Have you tried switching to Open dns or google dns? If not, give it a try.

    Which Router?

Check that both antenna wires are connected
Pull out the AC-7260 and reseat it in the mini pcie slot
Router is set to WPA2 AES ONLY
    5ghz channel selection...try different channel(I use 161
W-APSD is disabled in the AC-7260 Advanced Settings
Wireless Mode set to 802.11a/b/g in the AC-7260 Advanced Settings
In AC-7260 Power Management uncheck "Turn off to save power"
Control Panel power option while plugged in on High Performance
Router QOS settings WMM should be enabled on both bands
Try turning off Speed Steeping if enabled in the bios

Unplug the router power for 20 seconds to clear cache

    Reset the router if needed

If Windows 10,who is managing WiFi Intel or Windows

Thanks for the replies, guys. As for @ellalan's and @WhatsThePoint 's suggestions - I have fixed the issue by rolling back drivers to those from last September. Works fine and I get fairly high speeds of 200-300 Mb/s with an Ookla SpeedTest check. But that's obviously not the best solution - rolling back drivers.

To address @WhatsThePoint 's post specifically:

    1) Router is an ASUS RT-AC87U with the latest firmware installed.

    2) Yep, both antennae are connected. I haven't touched the chip since it was installed.

    3) As for the rest, I need to check on those.

    4) Not on Windows 10 - still using Windows 8.1.
    Thanks very much guys.

I have a Netgear R7000 paired with an AC-7260 in a 4 year old Sandy Bridge Notebook and a gaming desktop using driver 18.12.1.2 without issue.

I'm 10' from the router and in line of site.I connect at 866.7Mbps on the 5ghz band but it sometimes drops to 780Mbps

I have an AC-7265 in a different notebook using driver 18.12.1.2

I have Windows 10 Insider Preview build 10525,Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 on 3 SSDs in this notebook with all 3 using 18.12.1.2

I might suggest "completely" uninstalling the Intel Wireless ProSet and Bluetooth software>rebooting and then installing 18.12.1.2 again.

Right click on AC-7260 in Network Adapters and Uninstall device/software/settings
In Control Panel>Programs and Features >uninstall all Intel Wireless and Bluetooth
In Program Files>Intel>delete Intel WiFi,WiFi drivers

I've always read antenna's don't matter. There's no gain in them? Anyone who knows more about this subject??

I also have a E5-572g which comes with a Qualcomm Atheros QCWB335. It is said to be a 1x1 card but uses 2 antennas (main+alt, Then what is alt used for? Bluetooth?). I'm planning to upgrade with the eventual successor of the 7260. That's going to be an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 9260 Plus Bluetooth which uses PCIe (NGFF) as do some of the 7620's. So my question is the following, Is your 7620 a NGFF card or mPCIe, and if NGFF, what sort of adapter did you use to make it work?

hi guys .... just wondering if the covering pin 20 trick works on ac7260 with a thinkpad T430 for Whitelist trick

my problem is that i dont know which one is pin 20 ....on the back side there are fewer pins than in all documentation i could find

so ...can someone post a pic pointing the pin 20 if there is still one ?

    thanks

Have you looked on the thinkpad forum for modded bios?

Maybe this will help in taping pin # 20 and pin # 51

You need Lenovo card for most Lenovo notebooks - yours might not have a white list to begin with, but you are right that taping the pin won't help with the white-list.

This driver turned out to be a disaster for me on Win 7 64bit with Intel 7260.
More specifically 5GHz upload (when the notebook is transmitting) went down to 3MB/s. Download speeds on 5GHz were fine and both upload and download were fine on 2.4GHz as well.

I haven't tried on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate since I mainly use the drive for color management software, photo editing and printing.

My old expensive programs and hardware aren't well supported in Win8.1 and even less in 10

I'll give it a shot a bit later in the day.

I'm looking forward to your test although I won't be surprised at all if you won't experience any issues.
It would be way too easy if you would as well ;)

I spent quite some time playing with all sort of settings (assuming Windows networking settings were at fault) but rolling back the driver to 18.0.0.11 did the trick.

I use these drivers, 18.20.0.9, and W7 Home premium 64 bit. Are there setting that it should be set to for best performance, or leave defaulted. I am having comcast come to my house for loss of connection daily on all three laptops, and slow speeds (11Mbs vice 75Mbs when connected via cable to), same wifi adapter, and want to ensure everything is as is recommended so there is no gotcha moment by the tech

Do you have your own wireless router connected to the Comcast equipment in bridge or access point mode or do you just use their equipment?

The 18,20.0.9 is the latest release but you may want to try 18.12.4 that Intel posted a few days ago,09/17/15, but is a bit older than the 18.20.0 posted on 09/09/15

    18.12.4 compiled 8/25/15

Hi! I was thinking of getting this card to replace my Intel 6230 (got a problem and the notebook still fine, so just i'll just change). Broadcom or Atheros have better solutions (with BT)? I have an AC1200 router in case. I was looking for a card that captures good signal

No one really test and compared them as far as I know, but availability and price is a issue for Broadcom and atheros card. And their driver update is almost in existent, so any bug you encounter may stay for a while.

So far I've only seen the AC-8260 as the WiFi on new Z170 Desktop motherboards from Gigabyte(G1,WiFi models) but there may be others.

Intel has now released a Bluetooth driver with the AC-8260 listed as the only supported wireless card.

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25351

The AC-8260 is listed as supported in Wireless ProSet 18.12.4 but not in 18.20.0

Using an Intel AC7260 card on an old Alienware M11xR1 notebook.
The notebook is running Win7 Pro SP1 64bit.

Intel WiFi Driver: 18.20.0.9 (Device Manager)
Intel Wireless Bluetooth: 17.1.1507.528 (Device Manger)

Is there any way to detect if the Bluetooth audio is using aptX® codec in Win7?
Does the current 17.1.1507.528 drivers supports aptX???... I think it does... but not found any way to confirm that.

I have both Sony GTK-N1BT and Denon Envaya Mini bluetooth speakers, which use aptX®

The Bluetooth audio sounds OK on the Denon speaker and I have no complaints, but I'm just wondering if the aptX® codec is being used...or not.

My Android Xperia Z1c phone displays a 'toast' message saying it's connecting with aptX® support when using either of the above speakers.

    Thanks for any pointers/info.

    Update

If I look at Device Manager -> Sound, Video and Game controllers -> Bluetooth Audio, it says it's using 17.1.1411.498 and as I look at other drivers in Network Adapters like PAN and RFCOMM, they are using divers 6.1.7600.16385.

I have just shamelessly ignored the old original integrated Bluetooth module on the MB and installed the new Intel driver for the Intel AC7260 card over any previous drivers and in my mind, it does seem to be working OK with the AC7260 card. Maybe I should strip the notebook down and remove the original Bluetooth card on the system board. o_O

    Update 2

I read the Intel wireless-AC 8x70 supports aptX

    Bluetooth*
    Bluetooth core 4.1
Bluetooth Features BR/EDR Secure Connections, LE Dual Mode Topology, LE Link Layer Topology, Low Duty Cycle
Directed Advertising, Train Nudging, Generalized Interlaced Scan, and more
Embedded Codec (Host offload) A2DP (Embedded SBC and aptX), HFP (CVSD and mSBC).

I used to have a integrated BT module and windows only allow one of them to work at the same time. Yellow exclamation mark.

Disabling one of them in device manner and there aren't any negative impact.

One thing I've learned about Windows 10 is that there are far fewer things that can be controlled by the user including forced updating.

With WiFi there's a choice when using an Intel wireless card to have Windows manage WiFi or Intel manage WiFi.

If you login with a MS account that choice is gone so logging in with a local account is may choice for a bit less spying.

    WiFi Sense is turned off.

This brings me to Intel WiFi drivers. With the Official 18.20.0 downloaded from Intel Downloads I have the Intel green Intel WiFi icon in the taskbar and I can access the Intel Connection Utility

With this 18.21.0 driver I have Windows managing WiFi and I have not found a way to change it to Intel managing WiFi.

I deleted 18.21.0 and reinstalled Official 18.20.0 and got Intel managing WiFi back.

The choice for having the Intel icon appear in the taskbar is missing from the selection of which icons you want to appear in the taskbar in Windows 10 when driver version 18.21.0 that is WHQL is installed
See the attachments of the different icons that can be selected with Official driver 18.20.0.9 and WHQL 18.21.0 from MS partner

Guys what is in your opinion the most stable driver for Windows 10 64 bit? I keep getting random disconnects and it is driving me crazy.... Thanks for your help.

Station driver version 18.30.0.9 working fine without any disconnections, ac7260 card and the OS is Win 10 Home.

EDIT: You may have to try different drivers to find perfect driver for your model, placement of antenna is a problem in this model, you can find it in this review( under Body/Design):

    Thank you both!
For me it is a Windows 10 / driver issue because it was working fine before W10 Fall Update.
Default Windows driver (don't know what version) not stable
    Acer version 18.12.0.3 not stable
Official Intel version 18.21.0 not stable
I'm now on version 18.30.0.9 and it is working fine for the moment.
Update: still no more disconnects with 18.30.09 driver only. I'm very very happy :D

I have a Windows 10 Pro x64 build 10586.17 installation where I use a local account sign in and have Intel manage WiFi.This was an update over a Windows 8.1 Pro x64 installation on July 29th..This drive is over due for a wipe and clean install.

I normally do a wipe and clean install about every 3~4 months but this install has past the 7 months marker.

Windows 10 WiFi Sense is turned off.

On an different SSD in the same notebook on an Insider Preview installation where I use a MS account to log on,WiFi Sense is enabled and Windows is managing WiFi there 18.30.0.9 works well but I don't do any heavy downloading on it

While doing normal surfing, viewing web pages and forum posting type activities 18.30.0.9 appears to work well

I've not had any disconnect issues with any previous WHQL Intel driver versions since maybe some in the early 16 series.

As we all have learned about home networking over the years past few years is that nothing is for certain.A setup and setting that work for me may not work the same for you an vice versa but shouldn't be extremely different. The health of the OS is the big variable as is the maker's notebook firmware

Hi reviewers, have been reeding about the connections drops for a few days after purchasing an asus Tx300 with an Atheros 9485. I replaced the atheros with an ac7260HMW and the intel card is stable while using the network under 2.4 ghz with the latest official drivers provided by intel with windows 8.

Any other 802.11AC Wi-Fi + BT card 3 x MIMO with working drivers for windows 7 instead of Intel 7260 for upgrading my ASUS N550JV-CN163D notebook wi-fi card ( Intel 7260 ) ?
    I have an 1300Mbps router , and i need 3 x MIMO 801.11ac wi-fi card in my Asus notebook
What do you say about : Asus Broadcom 3x3 BCM94360HMB ?
It is worth to change my Intel 7260 from my Asus notebook with BCM94360HMB or not ?
I'll have win7 drivers for wifi and BT if i'll use BCM94360HMB instead of Intel 7260 ?
I'll need an adapter to can change Intel 7260 with BCM94360HMB ?
If i'll use an adapter than i'll have a lower wifi transfer rate even with Intel 7260 ( 867Mbps link ) ?

    thank you

Only a few 3x3 cards exist that are PCIe. The ones that do use different size antenna. So if your laptop doesn't take M.2 cards, NO you can't use that broadcom card because your antenna can't hook up to them.
That would mean you either must use an adapter (which will hurt performance some), pay someone to swap the antenna plug on the card (will cost you), or run external antennas with adapter to SMA which means having wires stick out laptop.

Any of those sellers selling little internal antennas won't work as well either and will result in performance loss because you won't find a good location for antenna to function.

And why do you need faster WiFi? Is your internet 1Gbps? If not it won't matter anyway, your internet wont get faster... Unless you are always moving large files non-stop it doesn't really matter.

Heads-up regarding 18.30.0.9 on Win 10 (and 8260). If I turn off the laptop while it was in Airplane mode, after turning it back on, Wifi can only be enabled by disabling and re-enabling the adapter. No such problem with 18.21.0.
