i have installed ac 7260 in w230st today and i am suffering on 300ms lag spikes every few minutes ...
    It makes my gaming impossible.

I am using 5Gz band and I have installed latest drivers from intel.

Ohter devices do not have such issue on 5Gz :(

The AP is 20 feet away with a single wooden door in directly in the way.

    (AP)--||--------(PC)

The AP's MAC address is entered in the connection settings :)

This Broadcom chip is really interesting, but the availability is basically non-existent from anyone who isn't an OEM or large business. Its a shame because if this thread says anything its that there is a strong demand for another option in the ac mini pci-e market. But if their drivers are as flaky as intel's (despite the massive improvements intel has been making) then its a moot point really :(

Disable internal BT in bios or when you don't have 7260 installed then install 7260 BT.

No ping spikes issues here. Maybe you have some programs that don't like the Intel WiFi drivers if this doesn't happen on your other devices. I'm on version 16.8.0.6 drivers from Dell.

This is the reason I purchased the 7260N without Bluetooth instead of 7260AC. I also tried that Bluetooth disable on the BIOS but it disables Bluetooth altogether regardless of the port location and type on my laptop. Besides, the internal Bluetooth (Broadcom version 2.1 Bluetooth) on my laptop requires ZERO service / startup programs in order to function properly unlike Intel Bloatwares that needed to be running in order for their Bluetooth to work properly.

After using driver 17.0.0.34 for a few days I've decided to keep it to replace driver 16.6.0.8 that had up to now been the best performer for my system on 5ghz

I have Intel Bluetooth driver 17.0.1312.404 installed.

My MSI notebook has a touch button that enables/disables Bluetooth.

The only BT device I pair with my notebook is my Google Nexus 5 smartphone.

17.0.0.34 is the first Windows driver I've tried that I don't get massive lag spikes, dropouts, and general slowness on either 2.4 or 5ghz. With all the older drivers in Win7 on a Latitude D830 I was only able to consistently transfer about 5mbps (megabits not megabytes!). With the new driver I can keep a consistent ~500mbps link speed @ 5ghz from another floor in my house away from the router and get a good transfer speed. Previously I could only do this in Linux, for whatever reason the Linux driver has always been good.

At this point, you can purchase another 7260AC and see if that one still drops the 5 GHz. I never get mine dropped when connected to 5 GHz.

I did some proper testing of 17.0.0.34 on 5GHz band (total of 13 separate tests accounting for 52GB transfered using NAS via SMB and FTP - both upload and download).
The performance difference is negligible between 17.0.0.34 and 16.6.08 and 16.10 although if there is a slight difference it favors 17.0.0.34.

There are interesting changes on 2.4GHz band though.

I pointed out earlier (in this post) that there seems to be no difference in speed between 20MHz channels and 40MHz channels. This meant that the second channel wasn't utilized properly or at all. My router is Wi-Fi certified but allows me to force 20MHz or 40MHz channels (meaning it really shouldn't be certified )

On previous drivers I'd be connected at 300mbps (indicating 40MHz channel) and would get 2.5MB/s download and 4.5MB/s upload (with drivers 16.10.0.5 and 16.8.0.6).
With 17.0.0.34 I am connected at 144mbps (indicating 20MHz channel) even though the router is using 40MHz channel.

Transfer speeds are 2.6MB/s download and 6.1MB/s upload - somewhat better than previous drivers in spite of being connected at 144mbps.

I will test a different channel on 2.4GHz though - I'm using channel 13 and it's not available in some countries so if the Gigabyte driver had been released for a country that doesn't allow channel 13, than no wonder I'm connected at 144mbps (it's using channel 9 and skipping channel 13).

Another change I made is I disabled Bluetooth AMP - it's a name for Bluetooth HS where BT is used only to establish connection while Wi-Fi is used to actually transfer the file.
I'd rather avoid anything messing with Wi-Fi even at the cost of reduced BT speeds (which I don't care about at all).

<strike>Pending 2.4GHz tests - torrent to establish if the speed will drop down dramatically and stay there like it used to (in my previous tests 13 minutes of torrenting did the trick) and a different channel to see if 144mbps is Intel's deliberate trick or just a result of channel 13 being used.</strike>

EDIT: Neither torrents nor LAN transfers managed to bring 2.4GHz band down. I changed channel to 1 and it still connected at 144mbps in spite of the router using 40MHz channels. It seems like drivers v17 might be the break we've been waiting for in terms of 2.4GHz stability (although not the performance which is still laughable). Can anyone else run a series of tests and use 2.4GHz band for at least several hours to confirm my findings?

If you have a NAS or a computer that's wired to the router you could transfer files between the laptop and NAS/computer to see how the driver holds up under load.
Also anything that generates multiple connections seemed to bother the card- you could choose some Linux distro and download it from a torrent (and obviously upload to a share ratio of at least 1 - testing is no excuse for being a jerk ;) ).

These tests were enough to cause the card to drop down to a theoretical connection speed of 6mbps and not recover from it (at least with previous drivers).

Pinging the router 100 times isn't enough to conclude if you have ping spikes or not. I strongly suggest to ping 400 times or more.

Btw, I'll test the 2.4 GHz stability with seeding torrents but I won't be using the 17 drivers since 16.8.0.6 seems stable and fast enough for my laptop. Also, my netgear router is certified so I can't force 40 mhz mode. Even if I select "up to 300 mbps" the router drops back to 20 mhz channel if it detects co-channel interference. Thus I cant test for maximum throughput at 2.4 ghz. If seeding torrents for 24 hours didn't kill the wifi to 6 mbps, i believe it's stable now. Fortunately I don't have any problems with 5 ghz and I can stay connected to it indefinitely.

Luckily I don't seem to have any issues with 5GHz either although I'm not going to be definitive about it yet - I've only owned this router for like two weeks, not enough time by my standards.

I just did my 2.4 GHz 24 hour stability test with seeding 4 torrents at 25 KB/s at the same time and connection is STABLE. However, speeds aren't great at around 3-5 MB/s which is due to channel interference I presume. 16.8.0.6 is a keeper for me since it has never acted up on me on BOTH 2.4 and 5 GHz. Hopefully, future drivers fixes some of the 2.4 GHz issues others are having but the WiFi problem is over for me :).

I wish to replace Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG wifi card from ASUS N550JV-CN163D notebook with Intel AC 7260 card .

What drivers advice me to use for Wi-Fi and what for Bluetooth ?

How did you manage it to work the Bluetooth ? Because i saw many people who use Intel AC 7260 they have no luck to install the Bluetooth .

I need to put a tape in pin #51 ? Or what i need to do ?

What's the trick to make to work correctly the Bluetooth and the Wi-Fi also with Intel AC 7260 card ?

I'm using a Dell F300K Bluetooth mouse , and i wish to make it to work correctly .

    The wi-fi i wish to use it with a Dual Band 1300Mbps Router ( 2.4Ghz + 5Ghz )

I have an MSI GT780DX notebook running Windows 8.1.

I didn't mask any pins on my AC-7260.

To pair my BT device I first enable BT then I go to Settings>Change PC Settings>PC and Devices>Bluetooth

Here I pair the BT device with the notebook..

If BT is not enabled by pressing my notebook touchbar button then Bluetooth will not appear in PC and Devices

With BT enabled and the Intel driver installed Bluetooth will appear in Device Manager.

Naturally your notebook model may be different in the way to enable/disable Bluetooth radio

What drivers do you have right now for Intel 7260 card ?

Wifi and Bluetooth ? Which versions and where can i get this versions ( in case it's old versions, and it's hard to find it anymore )

Do you have just the drivers, without utilities ?

    Intel Bluetooth driver 17.0.1312.404

    Intel wifi driver 16.6.0.8

What drivers advice me to use with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit ?

I've thinked you still use the old 16.6.0.8 version of Intel wifi and Intel Bluetooth driver 17.0.1312.404 .

Where can i get the full 17.0.0.34 driver and Tools package ? In this package it's included the Intel Bluetooth driver 17.0.1312.404 also ?

So, in full 17.0.0.34 driver and Tools package it's everything : Wi-Fi + Bluetooth also ?

For Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, what Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers are you advice me to use ?

And from where can you select to use just the 5Ghz band ?

In that utilities/software it's an option in menu, from where you can select which bandwith to use ?

5Ghz or 2.4Ghz , or both of them in parallel ?

Set your router to broadcast different SSIDs for 2.4 and 5 GHz band then connect your WiFi to the 5 GHz SSID so that it'll never roam to 2.4 GHz. If the SSIDs are the same for both bands, the 7260 will roam to 2.4 GHz band if the signal for 5 Ghz is much weaker (around 15 dbm weaker than 2.4 GHz radio). Otherwise the 7260 prefers the 5 GHz band even if you set the band preference to "no preference"

Except of Intel AC 7260 2x2 with Bluetooth wifi card ( Half Mini PCIe ) , other 3x3 AC with Bluetooth ( Half Mini PCIe ) exist?

    Any news about 7300 ?

    If i have a Dual Band router : 1300Mbps + 450Mbps ( 5Ghz + 2.4Ghz ), how can i reach this transfer rates with a laptop wifi card ?

    If a dual band card it have : 867Mbps ( 5Ghz) + 300Mbps ( 2.4Ghz ) , this two bands can not work together to have : 867 + 300 = 1167Mbps ?

So, the 1300Mbps speed of dual band router , i can reach it just with a 3x3 MIMO AC card/adapter ?

Right now, it doesn't exist any 3x3 AC with Bluetooth ( Half Mini PCIe ) wifi card, to can replace it the laptop wifi card ?

From all the big manufacturers, no one have made it a 3x3 AC combo wifi card ?

Wlan Wifi minipci & minipci-express modules - Chipset Qualcomm Atheros, Mediatek Ralink, Realtek - Wireless Mini Pci and mini pci-express cards for 802.11ac, 802.11n, 802.11a , 802.11g and 802.11b

    Here i saw it this Qualcomm chipset : QCA9880 / QCA988x 802.11AC up to 1300 Mbps

    3 x 3 MIMO :

    It's this 3 x 3 MIMO wifi cards, but unfortunettly isn't : Half Mini PCIe cards :(

It's separate. You need to download both Proset with WiFi drivers as well as Bluetooth drivers.

No 3x3 AC half mini cards exists yet. However, Broadcom can easily make one by putting the BCM4360 chipset that is used in the Macbook Pros to the mini-pcie half mini card.

I had a bit of extra time this morning so I gave 2.4ghz a shot

SanDisk Extreme 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive attached to the router's USB 3.0 port

Transfer 3.8GB Windows 8.1 ISO from notebook desktop to the flash drive.

On 5ghz the speed reached as high as 24 MB/s

    On 2.4ghz the speed reached 14.5 MB/s

Tested with both 17.0.0.34 and 16.6.0.8 with little or no difference.

In inSSIDer v3.1.2.1 my 2.4ghz SSID has the 15dbm advantage over the 5ghz SSID but the link score is 30 compared to 100 for the 5ghz.This is at a non line of sight location 20' from the router through to steel reinforced cement walls.

How can i install just the drivers from Intel PROSet/Wireless 17.0.0.34 and Intel Bluetooth driver 17.0.1312.404 , without to install the utilitys also ?
And from where can i download both of this drivers ?
In both of this utilitys it's a file called : "Autorun" .I must to install the utility from : Autorun ?

I've downloaded more version of Intel Bluetooth drivers, but i can't manage it to install it in Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit .

When i'm trying to install it , itt tell me something like : i must to have windows 7 and windows 8 , aber my OS it's windows 7 ultimate 64bit .

Right now my wifi worked with Intel PROSet/Wireless 17.0.0.34 , but my Bluetooth work with Generic Bluetooth .
But i don't like it how it work the whole windows . Sometimes, the windows7 doesn't want to shut down .
I can't uninstall some utilities what i have before the Intel PROSet/Wireless .

I wish to know where can i download the correct version of 17.0.0.34 driver and 17.0.1312.404 driver .
But just the driver .Or when it's not possible to download just the driver, how can i install just the drivers, without to install the utilites also .

I need both of this drivers for Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit .

I do clean installs of my Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8.1 Pro x64 every few months or needed sooner if issues arise.

The same driver works on Windows 7 and 8.

To install the 17.0.0.34 driver only without any of the addons open the unpack the zip file>open the folder>open the Win7Plus folder>open the Win64 folder>Open the Install folder>Open the data folder and click on Driver>Run>Next>Accept License>Next>Next

If you are having shutdown issues do a google search about the issue then think about doing a clean Windows install since the issue is probably not the Intel wireless driver.

Do you guys think the Intel 7260 drivers have progressed to the point where I can replace my Killer 1202 card? Or is it not worth it either way?

99% of the time I'll be connected to 2.4Ghz wireless n. My card currently creates occasional drops if I'm farther from the router or massive latency spikes otherwise, once every few hours. Looking for an alternative to test.

Well if most of the time you are connected to 2.4GHz band than no, it's not a good idea.
It works fine for some people on 2.4GHz be done but they are in the minority so chances of this card swap being an actual improvement are rather slim.

And to install just the driver for Intel Bluetooth driver 17.0.1312.404 ? It's the same with Intel PROSet ?
How did you install every few months the windows ? With any backup software ? Acronis True Image Premium 2014 , Windows 7 Backup Restore , Macrium Free Reflect ?
    What version of Windows 7 x64 are you using ? Windows 7 Pro x64 , Windows 7 Ultimate x64 , with SP1 or without ?

From where have you download it the Intel Bluetooth driver 17.0.1312.404 driver ?

    I have Windows 7 x64 HP on one SSD,Windows 7 x64 Ultimate on another and Windows 8.1 build 17031 on a 3rd SSD.

My desktop PC runs Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

I have images of Windows 7 so clean installs with updates are quick and painless.

Reinstalling Windows 8.1 Pro x64 is very fast from a SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 flash drive.

I got my Intel BT driver from station-drivers.I get most of my driver updates from that site.

BTW,this is a clean W7 x64 Ultimate install that I did last night from a USB flash drive in the slow USB 2.0 port.

and then i've setup in "Configure" : "Band Selection" - "Mandatory Acces Point" and "Cisco Options"

I leave it blank : "Application Auto Launch"

I have change preferred band back to none and the 5ghz drop dead issue seem to be gone, at least for 3-4 days since the change. Also changed to a only so it only run on 5ghz.
    Hopefully it stay that way.

It's an uncommon issue that you have to disable the 2.4 Ghz band in order to keep your 5 Ghz band from dying. Might as well call your WiFi "Intel Single Band Wireless-AC 7260" I'd try another 7260 AC and see if that works perfectly without any changes to the settings.

No, it is the "preferred" band option.
If I only disable the 2.4ghz, I still had that drop dead issue~~

Oddly I don't have it. Probably the only issue with 7260 that I don't have ;)
Seriously though - it's not a good card but I knew what I was buying so I don't have a right to complain.

Intel made drivers v17 official by the way. The very same version that came from Gigabyte by way of WhatsThePoint earlier.

So, I just installed the AC 7260 in my Clevo P150EM that's has the latest Prema Mod on it. It was running a Bigfoot N-1202 card before. The weird thing was the Wireless light never lit on that but the Bluetooth light would work perfectly. On my other P150EM it has an Intel N-6300 on it and the Bluetooth light and function keys do not do anything as they should and the wireless light and function keys work properly. The 7260 however, the Bluetooth function keys work but the light is always on, while the wireless light never goes on but the function keys don't work. If I use them, the card loses connection momentarily then reconnects no matter if my control is set to off or on. So, I cannot turn of the card from the keyboard shortcut. Does anyone else have this same issue? I'm trying to decide which card to use, I love my 6300 however it has been having issues in the past with 5GHz but I think it was something with my router. I only own an N600 router and the university I'm at uses N600 enterprise routers so the third antenna I guess is currently useless. As far as the 1202 and 7260 go, I think I'd rather have the 7260 since it is the same but with AC band (for future proofing). All 3 cards though show the exact same details on speedtest and they all seem the same to me. So I'm really just concerned about the status lights and such.

Edit: I'm running the latest drivers, and all OS's are Win 8.1, however the 1202 card was only messed around with in Win 7.

I'm starting to think it is just incompatibility issues since the cards released after the laptops.

With mine BT switch works exactly like it should (lights up when BT is enabled) but Wi-Fi switch is always on. It works fine - I can disable the cards and it stays disabled but the switch should be off when the card is off - but it never is. It's not really an issue so I haven't mentioned it before.

Well, it seems aside from the annoyance of not being able to use hotkeys and the lights to change BT and Wifi settings, my 7260 is the reverse of my 6300 in that the 6300 had issues on 5GHz and my 7260 has issues on 2.4GHz. Considering I prefer 5GHz but the 2.4 is still usable, this makes me happy. I also think the latest driver fixed my 6300 on 5GHz issues. Not sure if I'll swap or not. I'd rather keep the 7260 is possible. I really do hope intel releases a 3x3 card though.

Edit: Well, after 4GB of downloading my Dropbox onto my new computer, I watched this occur:
    Capture.PNG

Now I'm trying to decide if I want the 1202 for Bluetooth and since no router I own or use is N900, they are all N600 or if I should go back to my 6300.

But when I run a ping check through cmd I see 0 packet loss and 1ms ping nearly all the time. I don't know if maybe it was an issue on Dropbox's end but then I had this which looks stable.

It's probably on Dropbox's side as they can "drop" the packet on their side in order to limit the bandwidth they can give to you. If the 7260 isn't dropping on you and your pings are consistent 1 ms (doesn't exceed 10 ms during the test)after pinging the router 500 times then keep it definitely. A N600 enterprise AP with 1 Gbps internet bandwidth should saturate the "300 Mbps" WiFi link speed, and that should give the 7260N or 7260AC 180 Mbps of actual throughput like you see on my sig.

I've been following this thread since day one and have tried every driver available. Using an older Inspiron 1420 the official 17.0.34 driver is the first one stable enough to make the card usable and it only took one year!

At 15' I'm getting 866.7 connection with an Asus RT-ac66u but only 144 using the 2.4 band with default settings; it seems there is no 40MHz setting available for 2.4. Range seems very good even with AC. No idea about Bluetooth.

I tried the card in a Lenovo G780 but it's not on the whitelist so no go.

I'm finally satisfied with the purchase of this card.
