I had to remove the Dell 6200 card from my laptop, it is such a shame.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-802-11-In...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item27b0ba4de2
I later discovered that it kept on sporadically freezing on me on some sites. I don't know if i should try again with a non branded card. I'm doubting if whether it would even make a difference, probably not.
I tried the 6200 Intel drivers, Sony drivers and the Dell drivers. All 3 probably were all the same or may be the last 2 were modified in some way, i don't know.
If i try again i would like to get a new retail card. Or may be i'll wait until a Sony one turns up on ebay.

My Inspiron 1545 I only has 2 antennae, can I just attach the existing two and not around with the 3rd and if so would it matter which posts I attach them to? I'm a bit concerned about which posts to attach them to since the card in my laptop now is labeled white and black but the picture on the provantage website doesn't show any such markings.
-
yes you can use the existing two, third is optional.
Doesnt matter which color, they are just antennas. Just plug them in socket 1 and 2. -
-
Checking out some antennae, on the Tycos like this one on ebaywhat are you supposed to do with that copper square thing? Maybe it's smaller than it looks, but?
-
I bought my 6300 here in the NBR Marketplace. Great seller. Paid Friday, arrived Monday. Easy to install in my ASUS G73. G73 only has 2 antennas but I get connectivity all over my house.
Cheers, -
Easy way: boot up a linux usb key with a recent kernel where drivers are already installed, discover it will never work in linux due to stupid compliance paranoia. Some distros stay up to date more than others, try looking at the pen test ones.
Printing labels is easy, printing new ones with proper spelling is almost as easy. Check the backing too, they might not be bothering to match the yellow. (not that yellow confirms anything)
I have a "perfectly" marked full 5350 and half 5300 as well. -
PS I wouldn't worry about real vendors.
e.g. provantage tends to drop-ship, so theres a good chance you actually get your fedex/ups/whatever boxes straight from intel.
They are also a fairly big official US distributor so the odds that you get an ES from them are about nil. (and intel will actually give a sh*t if it happens unlike fleabay etc) -
-
Your error will look something like this:
Bug 1991 – Unsupported EEPROM VER=0x21b
Summary: Don't buy from fleabay/etc when OEM plays games like this
Real Summary: in the long run, supporting OEMs that can screw you over like this is bad -
yeah, even I wanted to know where you got your adapter.
I cant help noticing that wireless cards (in general) are much cheaper for laptops than desktops. -
I bought it on ebay for like $10. Its just a simple mini pci-e to pci-e adapter.
I upgraded the antennas so it looks like this now:
This card on a desktop is very fast and stable. It doesnt skip a beat. Much better than desktop wifi cards. -
Around $10? nice find! I'll end up getting a couple dozen.
I've been using other kinds for testing but they also connect the usb lines (~$20 w/o ant) or usb+SIM (~$30) which isn't needed for wifi on a bunch of workstations. Great for fooling around on my home stuff though, toyed with some wimax and 3G cards
I've seen other cheap converters before but usually with only one RP-SMA pigtail, or none at all.
And yes, desktop cards are stale and absolutely SUCK compared to the awesome selection of minicards.
These adapters should last awhile until theres whatever new expansion standard years from now.
Are those dual band antennas or 2.4 only? So far I've only found one type of reasonably priced 2.4+5 rubber duck and its still steep at $11-12 per. -
Is the power consumption better in 6200 or 6250wimax compared to a 5100??
-
Hello,
I have a question and I hope someone can answer.
My question is, can I upgrade from the 4965AGN to the Ultimate-N 6300m and will I get a better connection out of it?
I have an HP DV9580US laptop with an Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965AGN.
I upgraded the processor from a 2.00 GHz Intel® Centrino® Duo processor technology featuring Intel® Core 2 Duo processor T7300 to an Intel Core 2 Duo T9300.
Thanks, -

Hi guys,
I just got an Intel 6200 for my laptop and came with a plastic sticker on the back that covers some chips and transistors.
Should I remove it? I don´t know if that sticker can melt but I don't wanna risk it and ruin the card. -
Intel, HP, or some retailer?
If it is a major manufacturer, leave it. If it's the retailer, I would remove it. -
At any rate, if you pull the trigger, I recommend getting from this guy, fellow NBR member...I did and it was quick and painless: http://forum.notebookreview.com/com...-ultimate-n-6300-advanced-wireless-cards.html -
The plastic sticker on my card is just blank, well it basically has one of those pixel barcodes and some "(P/b)" forbidden sign, also known as Non-lead.
I don´t know if it´s an ES but it really works way better than the default Atheros that came with the laptop. I bought from a very reputable seller in the UK (36000 votes on Ebay).

I want to replace the wireless card in my Leveno Ideapad U350 so I can add N. I bought and installed the 6200 card and when I boot I get this message "Error! Not supported wireless LAN in system". The U350 has the ULV U4100 processor. There are no newer bios for the notebook. I have noticed that the newer U350 notebooks come with the 5100 wireless cards. Do you think there is any way to run the 6200 card or should I just buy a 5100 card? I imagine this is a chipset compatibility problem. Thanks!

Ive seen a few guides to modifying the BIOS table and editing the whitelist but im not sure if its available for your model or bios.

Howdy
I've bought one AGN 6200 from ebay, and there's a quite strange thing happening.
On Windows 7 I cannot get it to work, the drivers install and stuff but it always says "This device cannot start (Code 10)". Taking a look at the event manager, it says that it can't allocate the resources.
What's even more strange is that I booted Ubuntu 10.04 live CD and the card works flawlessly in there.
This is on my laptop, an Acer 4810TG. There's no boot or unsupported device error, even though I've checked the BIOS and the card doesn't seem to appear on the "whitelist".
Does anyone have any ideia of what's up? Don't really wanna be stuck with Ubuntu for wireless networking.
Thanks -
which version drivers did you install?
-
I've tried the drivers that come with windows 7 natively, the 13.0.0.107 from intel (edit: these are the ones for a 4820T, got them from the Acer site) and the 13.2.1.5 from intel also.

Hi I have a problem with a network adapter Intel Wireless N 6200 to perform after installing drivers go to work and then not recognize any network remains bolcat system (can not access the configuration they give her on / off she left off and returns only after you restart). I put all dirvers to 13.1.1 (win7-32 bits), 64 bits is the same. A be a driver problem or the problem is the wifi network card??

Hmm, but when I look at the seller, I see that he is from Texas. And people who have bought it (at least one) claim that it is genuine Intel. Are they n00bs who don't know what they are talking about?
-
-
Okay, will do that! Thanks for the help
-
First off, I'll admit I'm not smart on wireless networking so please be gentle.
I'm buying a new laptop and was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade the wireless card from the stock one found in Clevo or Compal builds to the 6200 or 6300. Specifically I am looking to see if it would help out in this situation:
Very soon I will get an all expenses paid trip to the middle of the desert and get to live inside a metal can. The wireless signal is not strong enough to get inside the cans so everyone is buying antennas. Will upgrading the wireless card improve the ability/chance to receive the signal, and if so, will it improve signal strength. If the answer is yes, is the 6300 that much better or is it a wash when I won't be able to get huge transfer rates anyway?
If an antenna is going to be a necessity, which one is the best bang for my buck?
Thanks in advance for your answers. -
Anybody with any knowledge on this?
Thanks -
What is your current card? IMO the differences between cards isn't much overall but in certain situations, it can be better. For the price, it's a cheap upgrade.

Do these anteannas really STICK OUT ?

I admit for $24 I bit and bought
The Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 - 633ANHMW - eBay (item 250707860594 end time Oct-14-10 11:49:32 PDT)
I received it looks legit installed it and nothing wouldn't even recognize in a asus g73. Contacted the seller said he would ship me another since this one was DOA. Just curious is there a way once installed to tell if there genuine? -
Can you spot the potential fake?
I'm not pointing fingers just yet. Wanted to see if anyone could explain the variances and which one is real. I know what I think but lets see what you guys think
Hope I'm wrong lol -
Without researching it at all, the second is the real one.
The sticker/label is sloppy on the first compared to the second, how it was stuck on, and the quality of printing, particularly the scan code and Intel logo, Intel wouldn't let their name look blurry like that, look at the registered symbol. The second also has a Mac Address. The first may be an engineering sample that has been re-badged, but the label is certainly not of Intel quality.
ES models (from what I have heard) share the same Mac Address, this isn't a huge issue unless you have a more than one on your network. -
Nah the first one also has a mac address it was just blanked out. but yeah I saw the same thing I purchased the top one which isn't anything like the bottom one in appearance and the build of the PCB board that I can see

Anyone else?

Genuine Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 Wireless Cards come in a OEM box you see below...

The pins are totally different. The bottom has less pins and both pin tabs have a slightly larger gap between them than the top.
-
Yeah I know but what is it then? They have to be selling working wireless cards?
-
Ebay has just totally gone down the tubes though and most vendors don't even have an actual picture of what they're selling. Here is Amazon's pic for the 6300. I honestly would not trust Ebay for something like this. I had a hard time pulling for Amazon when I bought my Intel 6200 card.
Just inspect closely when you receive and if it looks fishy, see if you can return it. Good luck. -
Yeah sad really....
On another note anyone have any good leads for the third antenna for a g73? -
I got this wifi card from this same Texas seller. The wifi does not work.
From device manager, all I got is "this device code not start code 10"
-
That is one of the most common reason for that error on wireless nics. -
Heres what a real card looks like
