@D2 Ultima
Did you try the TCP Optimizer? I feel my browsing is snappier now -
those disconnect under heavy load.
I don't think that would help. I have no problems getting my speed or holding a steady connection... what I have a problem with is this:
This is me simply pinging my modem/router (it's one unit). I'm connected by wireless ac as well. I tried using the standalone router connection we have and it didn't make a difference. This card, in itself, seems to have issues holding a stable connection for me. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
how do I run that command? what IP shall I enter coz when I entered yours it gave me an error -
Your default local IP for your router or modem is probably 192.168.1.1

here is mine with the TCPOptimizer tweaks.........shall I be concerned?
-
That one 26ms is worrying, and that loss is also worrying. You don't seem to have as bad an issue as I do, however generally pinging a modem with good signal should grant a steady stream of 1ms, maybe some 2ms/3ms thrown in. Anything over 4ms for a strong-signal router ping I would be worried about. I KNOW my sister's 8260ac does not have the jitter problems, neither my 7260ac in my old computer.
here is me pinging google, for more reference, with a picture of my teamspeak connection's reading my ping and jitter.

sorry it seems like my TCPOptimizer settings were not on......how does this look........
-
Still shouldn't be having the 48ms/35ms spike, but if your router is busy with a bunch of other devices it makes sense.Vasudev likes this.

Right, so my card is somehow not working properly. That's what I assumed.

or maybe it's the fact that the Windows 8 version of the driver is 3 versions behind. Remember, this card was just released so driver updates are very important
Also ensure you don't have any apps in the background that may be using any bandwidth when you run the test.
Finally, what AV are you using? I am using NOD32 so I disable it when running the test as it has an HTTP scanner which I don't want it to affect the test results
@D2 Ultima
is this the driver you're using? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/do...re-and-Drivers-for-Windows-8-1-?product=86068Last edited by a moderator: Feb 12, 2017 -
Windows is mostly stock (in terms of installed things, anyway). I noted that the driver was far behind, though I was almost to attibute that to W10 needing to be babied with constant updates to fix everything M$ breaks. But I don't know. It's true, the card is extremely new. I should be testing W10 in the near future... if the card works well there and not on 8.1 I might have to go behind Intel for this crap. I REALLY do not want to make W10 my primary OS anytime soon.
I can guarantee you this problem stems from the card and not the OS or programs running. Especially since my P370SM3 if I boot it now (and shove an external monitor on it so I can actually see something) will have far more things running and far less (which is to say no) problems with latency. That's what's annoying me.
And yes, that is the driver I was using.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

I'm going to be dual-booting it probably this week. Either way, I don't want to make it my primary OS. I don't like my crap being reset on update. I don't like having to update things I don't care for. I don't like all the bugs (especially with respect to SLI) that W10's drivers have. Just check nVidia's release notes and see the bugs they've fixed and bugs yet to fix for W10, then scroll down to what's open in W8.1/W7.hmscott and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

if you use O&O ShutUp 10, you can prevent Microsoft from conducting experiments on your machine, disable all privacy envading stuff, disable Windows updates, etc......

Yes, I know. But you eventually NEED to update, and updates reset things. And drivers can be a real crapshoot with them especially for multigpu

I never had Windows updates reset settings, only a few stuff related to telemetry sometimes which can be fixed by running O&O Shutup 10 and as long as you have the latest drivers, WU won't find and thus won't install any driver updates.

I disabled WU to stop updating the nvidia drivers to latest versions.
@D2 Ultima: Have you tried using WIn PE or Linux LiveCD to rule out any hardware issues? Have you disabled uPnP and have you checked if your wifi channel is optimal using wifi analyser app? -
Win PE? I haven't tried any linux; not familiar enough with linux. I haven't checked uPnP or any such thing, however I've been through the QoS options with a fine-toothed comb, and nothing seems to change anything. Not used any wifi analyzer app. I've set it up the same way I've set up wifi on every system I've touched in the last few years and it simply fails to work.

try this:
Disable Windows Connection Auto Tuning
To check values, type the following in an elevated command prompt:
netsh interface tcp show global
To disable Window Auto-Tuning:
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
To enable Window Auto-Tuning:
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
This is for Windows 10 but maybe it works on Windows 8D2 Ultima likes this. -
No dice. It also has spikes like if it's searching for networks despite WLAN optimizer being used... I'm going to try disabling the "scan when associated" thing in the registry and see if that works.
Edit: also no dice. It seems this card is doing what it wants. It might be faulty.Last edited: Feb 13, 2017Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

I replaced my Killer 1535 with an Intel 8260. While the WiFi was much better, I noticed a strange problem with the Bluetooth portion. I use my Xbox One controller this way and saw that games were not performing as well as when it was connected to the Killer card or directly via USB.
For example, in Dishonored, I would get strange stuttering, and the framerate would vary wildly between 70-110 when using the controller wirelessly on the Intel card. Using it over USB pegged the framerate at 130, which is the limit set within the game's configuration files. I put the Killer card back in, and the controller behaved pretty much the same as it did wired. There were a couple very minor drops, but nothing less than 110 fps. Further, after a cold start or reboot, the controller would sync with the Intel card just fine the first time. But after it powered off, it would not reconnect unless I unpaired/re-paired it. I tried a couple different Intel drivers with similar results.
Believe it or not, I'm going to keep the Killer card because I use the Bluetooth way more often than the WiFi.hmscott likes this. -
Yeap, i was mad, i got an intel 8260, zero problems since, never touched the drivers too..Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Lol generally the Killer card is worse for Bluetooth but its the other way around for you.. Well if it works, keep it

8.1, and I'm certain it's the card at this point. I've done everything from registry hacks to WLAN optimizer. I'll probably install W10 tomorrow and check it out. You got a bare driver download for the newest drivers for the card, so I can toss it on a second drive in preparation?

StartIsBack has an issue which I've reported to the developers ages ago and he refuses to fix it.
You see, with Windows 7, let's say you launch a program, CCleaner for example......
That program will now appear in the start menu on the left pane frequently used programs......
If you right click on it and choose remove from list, it won't show again, but if you launched it a few times again, it will show up again in the list which is how the start menu should work. It should show you the frequently access programs in the list on the left.
Now, with StartIsBack, if you remove a program from the list thinking maybe you won't need it there to show up as you aren't going to use it often, but later start using it more, it will never populate in that frequently accessed programs, it's gone........forever....you have to manually hunt for it from the Start Menu.
Classic shell works exactly like the Windows 7 start menu, it will re-add a program if you removed it from the list after you have run it a few times. Classic Shell is basically, the Windows 7 start menu ripped from Windows 7 and move to Windows 10
Here is my XML settings file if you want the start menu to look exactly like Windows 7 but with the PC Settings shortcut in there for ease of access: Download Phoenix Classic Shell XML Settings
My Windows 10 Desktop:
Once you have Windows 10 installed, feel free to tag me so I can set it up for you and get rid of all the junk and disable the privacy invasion stuff.
