Thanks for the drivers. I don't use StartIsBack, I use Start8 (and the comparable product is Start10). Here's a shot of my desktop:
![]()
I'll consider classic shell, though Start8/Start10 fix a lot of things outside of just the start menu (like the charms bar and multi-monitor corner stickiness). I've never run StartIsBack in my life xD.
I'll get these downloaded so I can store them to install. I hate reinstalling an OS but eh, what's the worst that can happen. Too bad I'll need to do a ridiculous amount of tweaks from the get-go. And then boot with DSE off so I can install nVidia drivers. Ugh. *shudder* Thank meowmix for lack of secure boot on this thing!

When you install Windows, do nothing........ just run......
Download Windows Update Blocker then run it and disable Windows update so that when you connect to the internet, no drivers / updates are downloaded.
Remember, we need to install all the latest drivers before we connect to the internet to prevent Windows Update from installing the drivers it feels like installing
Now have TeamViewer 12 ready and install it, send me a PM with your TeamViewer ID / Pass and let me do the magic.....
I will also show you the best way in Macrium Reflect on how to set it up, and speed up the backup/restore process and set it up in a way that when you want to restore an image, you won't need a USB Recovery Flash Disk but can do it on the fly via a simple reboot........
I can do all the tweaks to tame Windows 10 in no time as I've done it hundreds of times
that includes restoring the old calculator, old windows photo viewer, disable cortana, adjust your Firewall Settings to prevent useless stuff like Microsoft Spotlight and whatnot from connecting to the net.........
Show you all what we need to change in the Group Policy Editor to prevent the usage of the useless Home Group, disable the new app installed notification, disable Windows Error Reporting and System Restore....... thel is too huge to list really..... -
As for some of the tweaks like getting O&O shutup 10 running, I need to learn that, so I'll fiddle a little then ask you to mop up what I missed, if you don't mind. Not trying to spite your helpfulness, I just like the firsthand experience (but restoring calc and photo viewer and all that sounds like a bloody pain, so I'll watch you do it hehe).
I don't really have a drive to back up to properly, though. My storage is rather limited right now (256GB OS, 512GB storage). I have more drives yet to arrive, but for now this is my limit. Once everything is perfectly up and running and I have my drives though, I'll come ask you. -

Falkentyne Notebook Prophet
Hi guys, I ordered 2 AC-8265 cards from the ebay seller yesterday. I assume it will take like 3 weeks to get to California? Or two weeks?
Anyway is it easy to install this into an older MSI whitebook (I believe based on something like GT60? GT63 or something, I don't remember exactly, but it was one of the MSI whitebooks from 2012, that came with a 2670QM Intel quad and an Intel 6230-N dual band wireless card. I want to get rid of that and put in this 8265. I saw someone with a GS70 upgrade to one of the newer Intel cards, so I assume this is the same thing? Open it up, remove the card and the antenna wires and hook up the new one and install drivers? But is it compatible ?
I actually think the whitebook is based on MSI GT780DXR or something thereabouts.
Thank you! -

Inspired by Phoenix's repack for the Intel 8265 AC, I wanted to do my own repacks for current and future ISO's. Not being sure which files to keep or discard from the extracted Temp files, I ended up on some dark corners on the Internet and stumbled upon these gems:

I would advise everyone to bookmark these links since they will be updated when every new drivers come out and you can use the INF packages for your systems with easegod1729 and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

But I cant even tell what the difference is between an 8260 and 8265, so I won't be in a big rush to pop it in until I get everything else running. -
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
Will there be Intel 19260, or is Intel discarding 802.11ad?

Here is a picture of my Gigabyte P34w v3 with an 8265 running instead of the 7260hmw it came with. I wasn't prepared to lose my M2 SSD so I got a cheap adapter from ebay that allowed me to use the pcie slot. It is ungainly as you can see, and I haven't permanently stuck the antennae down but it works absolutely fine.
The pic is actually an 8260, but I found out about the 8265 and upgraded again. The result is the same, it still works.
Thought I'd add this as I am back for the latest unbloated drivers lol. -

Hi,
Have anyone experienced issue with AC 8265 that there is no Bluetooth listed under device manager?
Laptop in question is Acer Aspire VX5-591G and it had Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 installed to it.
Bluetooth works fine with QCA61x4 but after putting Intel to it, it doesn't appear to no where. -
-
Tested that, but it didn't work, driver installation went fine and no issues with that.
What could cause this? -

Added my signature, this certain Acer model have qualcomm atheros qca61x4 or AC 8265 installed, european models have with Qualcomm.
It's bit weird that this laptop doesn't work with it, on Acer forum, they claimed that it could be issue with Intel wlan itself not the laptop. I have ordered a 8260 and second 8265 for testing.hmscott likes this. -

Could those pins affect? because card in picture has all connected ( E and A) but intel has only connected latter one.

I also own the 8265 and am experiencing the jittering lag spikes:
