I don't see why not. With similar configs, the ASUS has a slightly better GPU in a larger, heavier (and uglier) form factor for $80 more.

Even if your priorities are different, it's not a wash either way.

    Code:
    	[B]Envy 15 G51JX-X3[/B]
    CPU	i5-430M i5-430M
    RAM	4GB DDR3	4GB DDR3
    GPU	HD 5830 GTS 360M
    Drives	500GB 7.2k	500GB 7.2k
    Screen	1920x1080	1920x1080
    Weight	5.17 7.26
    Price	$999.99 $1,078.74

yeah but the asus has a drive and the gpu has gddr5 over gddr3 which is a huge difference. Also asus has better warranty but the envy is pretty er

Gra 360m even with ddr5 does not outperform 5830.

WOOT, coupon works again. For a while for me the coupon would not work no matter the configuration. But I just tried it and it works no problem.

Yes, Core i5 is a dual core with 4 threads (2 cores + 2 threads from HT)

Unless you need more than 4gb ram i7 is overpriced. Since that model has 4 slots for ram it is cheaper to increase theram from 4 to 8. I5 has better battery life, less heat and just a little less power.

I don't see anyone mentioning it, but it seems it could stack with Bing 5% cashback. They'll apply cashback to your final price but still its like $50. :)

Why do they have different option on ATi 5830 choices according to the processor that you choose? example: ATi 5830 for i5 and Ati 5830 for i7 ? Is either of the cards different or the same?

Not saying I need USB3 just thought I'd mention it to potential buyers in case they're looking for it. In fact I'm going for a cheaper Acer model to save some $$. If I'm reading the HP site correctly only the Core i7 Envy 15 units come with USB 3.0.

I heard HP coupon + Bing = not compatible, the Bing will get cancelled since HP seems to be on top of making sure Bing Cashback doesn't stack with their coupons. I could be wrong though.

who is every one? There are 3-4 dashers here who says "bad" to any post that contains HP in it. Look at the post from reputable users. With Envy second gen there are two issues I found. One is the no backlit keyboard and the second is the screen oes not tilt more than 110 degrees.

    That is about it.

I think you'll be surprised. The 5830 is a pretty dang fast card, and almost everyone can get a 25% or higher overclock on the GPU memory, which is what hamstrings the 5830. Memory overclocked and a bit of a core boost and people will turn 10000 in 3DMark06, up from just around 8000 stock, which is still amazing in a 5lb machine. If you want a faster 15", go get an MSI GX640 or something that's more gaming-centric. The Envy is not a gamer machine... it's a slickly designed, attractive portable powerhouse that just happens to be pretty good at running games.

Do you wish you went with the glossy screen?

Do the USB ports on the right side annoy you?

Will I feel dumb getting i5 when I'll be missing out on USB 3.0?

If you need a laptop (which in definition portable computer) that can do many things like a desktop, this is it. I don't consider anything above 7lbs portable. Well then there is m17x which is a portable desktop.

Wait until it's in-hand before saying that. I got that email as well on my Envy15 order, but log in into your Bing account and it should report as Pending, right up until it's canceled.

no, bing send the email out even if it will be canceled. they will keep you hoping for about 45 days and then they will cancel the cashback. That is why I put the other cashback options out there.

I recently used bing with dell biz/home outlet + coupon and of cause it would not work at all. I've never received any notice from the get-go. On the other hand, my ebay/bing cashback was good and got the money back after about 60 days. We will see how this one turns out.
