$2.15/gb is the price point that I got my SSD and the Agility with Indilinx controller performs a little better than my Summit with Samsung controller.

ugh 60gb if only they had the same price point for the 120gb id probably give in
-
Could be worse-- like the joke of a "bargain" Kingston 40GB SSD for about the same price.
-
If your notebooks BIOS has RAID 0 support you could get 2 of these and use an external HDD for backups and bulk storage.
Here is an AS SSD Benchmark of a single 60gb Agility.

No that would be even worse. I need that 2nd HDD for space. Right now I have 250GB of games installed on the C: and over 150GB of media on the D: and this is my laptop that is a week old
-
I bought one a couple days ago when I saw the deal on SD. I'll be using it for my future desktop build...
-
I only keep the 1 or 2 games currently playing and uninstall them when I'm finished. Packratting data and SSD's does not mix.
-
Is this SSD any good? The price looks great but you get what you pay for...
-
The agility drives are probably the 2nd best SSDs out there, topped only by the X25-Ms. In terms of performance/price, they're probably #1. But, at least in my mind, they're #1 in terms of firmware quality and capabilities.
-
That's good to hear. Looks like it's sold out now at Newegg. I do like OCZ products, their warranty and customer service are always top notch as well.

If I see the 120gb for $260 I'd grab it in a heartbeat... wish they would be nice enough to give us a discount across the board and not just for one product. SSD actually get cheaper per gb when you get a larger capacity anyways.
OCZ is a ... meh company I have had a CS issue with them that was never properly resolved and if I am not mistaken lots of people have been denied or never gotten rebates from them for some reason or another. -
That's really odd. The few times that I have had issues with OCZ products, I'd hit up their forums and post about it. Within a few hours I'd get a response asking me to e-mail them so they can take care of it... and they did, efficiently and quickly.
Hit up Ryder over at OCZ bro. That dude will take care of you. -
NewEgg is pretty good about backing up their rebates if you've got the documentation.
-
I think this is why I'm gonna pass up on this deal. I just hate rewarding companies who treat their customers like this.
-
I have not (yet) heard anything negative about OCZ rebates, though I am myself waiting for one from a few months ago. I asked OCZ about it a few days ago, and everything is on track for me to get it still.
-
Let us know if you receive your rebate from them, and if it was easy or if you had to jump through hoops.
-
Uh oh... Prices went up for the 60GB's.
-
For desktops I'd much rather go with a WD VelociRaptor 300GB for $200, same cost as for a 64GB SSD. Too bad they don't make Raptor drives for notebooks.
-
Back in stock. $169.99 with $30 mail-in rebate.
-
Hardly a deal at this point--
-
Hey... I read somewhere that a 10000RPM enterprise HDD was released. It's a 2.5" form factor. I wonder where you can get that and I forgot the brand.
-
Those are server hard drives. There are several reasons why you should not, or could not, use them in a laptop.
-
LOL... Raptors are not that fast. This drive has twice the read speed of a raptor, and is much smaller and uses a lot less power. Also since there is no spinning platter on an SSD, the access times are instantaneous, while a raptor has to spin and move its arm around.
I just got this drive and plan on installing it this week.
Need to back up a couple hundred GB's of stuff before I can reformat... -
I'm going to get my OCZ Agility next week monday.
USPS doesn't deliver on Saturdays. Well... at least I didn't pay for it that's why. I have been waiting on it to reinstall my ASUS G50VT-X5 with Windows 7
-
My point is that you can get 300GB of a hard drive significantly faster than a traditional hard drive, instead of same price for a 64GB SSD. To me the capacity is the issue. For a desktop though you could do well with a 64GB SSD for your OS and basic apps, and second hard drive for games, multimedia, etc. For laptops that is the issue. Most laptops only offer a single 2.5" HDD bay so you either have SSD or HDD.
I'd be happy with a super fast 32GB SSD and a 500GB 5400RPM drive in a laptop, but you typically have to got 17" to get that. -
Thats what I'm setting my T400 up for. 64GB SSD as main drive plus the 500GB WD scorpio blue as the secondary one.

I agree but I am too picky, holding out for a good price on the 160gb Intel or something better. I could use a 60gb Agility for OS/Programs and then keep my stuff on the 500gb 2nd drive in my G73 but I want my games and stuff on the SSD too.
Not too many programs do I need to open and the OS boots while I setup my desk so no wait there. The largest loading benifit to me will be with games (even though I never really play games) currently I have 250gb of games installed on my c: and over 300gb of media on the D: with the dual 500gb hdd's that came with the G73.
So yeah I am a capacity>speed guy. Even so I would sacrifice some capacity for the ssd speed, just not willing to sacrifice the money those ssds are going for. Just way too expensive IMO and many people have accepted that price and consider it ok so thats the basline already set and those not willing to accept them are considered the odd ones. -
There are always options bro. You might check out the following from Silverstone if you want a best-of-both-worlds-but-not-willing-to-pay-an-arm-and-a-leg-for-it approach:
