if u guys still want it u can get the xps for 1350 with the SLi 8800GTX
or the SLi 9800GT for 1450
right here
-
-
which customer service line would i have to call to straighten out my order?
-
well 1350 for a 8800GTX on SLi is a good deal
-
-
the configuration that i ordered came out to something like $2160. after tax, one day shipping etc.
if i configure that now, the cost is around $2960.
its not a good deal now...... -
this was such a great deal. congrats to everyone who jumped on it.
-
that is a good deal i know about that it was 500 bucks cheaper
what im saying is that u cant find a laptop with dual 8800GTX for under 1400 bucks -
Don't congratulate anyone yet until someone confirms they got the sli 9800 with the discount.
-
i guess that there is a guy that already got one with the 9800GT's
-
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
This is a sweet deal!!
Too bad I bought it when it was double the price!! -
i dont think it can be matched. -
they changed the thread name lol
-
So has there been a confirmation of a guy getting the 9800s with this deal?........Wait nevermind I asked (or for those of you who are about to ask the same thing) I just realized the "promotion" just started like 3 days ago and nobody can get their laptop that soon. =p

Alright guys, here's what you have to do.
I'm on the phone will Dell right now, but basically, that page was pushing orders as quotes... you can call and get it transferred to an order from a quote, but it's a pain. I've been transferred around like 100 times now... but anyway.
If you don't do this within 7 days of your order, the quote will automatically be deleted and your chance at the deal will be gone.
Not sure if any orders have gone through without doing this. -
should i be calling anyway? -
Well, I figure that since it was a test page, it had access to the system but was not fully set up.
We can submit an order, but it does not go in properly and appears instead as a quote.
Orrrrrrrrr.... maybe I just got really unlucky and just mine didn't go through.
Thought I'd give everyone a heads up either way though, just because time is of the essence. -
I now have an estimated delivery date of May 20th.
-
i just called again, and they told me my order is fine...everything is in production and is projected to ship on 5/27/09..so its still looking good...
-
-
-
I placed mine on the 15th so I guess I should be receiving it 2 days later than you then, i mean, hopefully...
-
Even with a Santa Rosa chipset this deal is (was) utter insanity. If it used MXM-III or IV I would have purchased it to experiment
-
the only other best deal I have ever seen was an open box asus w90 for $1450 that only last a micro second on newegg...
-
I placed mine on the 14th, have a tracking number from fedex with delivery date for the 20th. And my invoice listed 9800GTx2. You can bet that if these don't arrive with 9800's in them, that Dell will be getting a lot of them back, either that or eBay will be a busy, busy, site.
-
If Dell gives you items you didn't order, there will be a large sum of complaints. I guess we should all call the person who took our orders.
-
-
-
Alright, my order is sorted out and confirmed now.
-
Dell says estimated on the 1st, and fed ex says the 20th
im going to go with fed ex because they haven't been wrong delivering to me yet. -
-
is dell emailing you tracking numbers?
where did you get it from? -
-
either that or they are using the "track by reference" in the FedEx website and using the order number as reference.
-
if by chance anyone ends up not wanting the 999$ or close price wise version with 9800gt's sli when you get it rather than send it back id love one that is not opened yet please let me know im looking for one.. thanks

I doubt anyone would be wanting to sell these, but on a more important note: some users on Hardforum are reporting that they received illegal config/price errors from customer service.
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1419501&page=4 -
Well in that link, one guy got an actual order number. So it's just a matter of time before someone will do it. Although for me, I ordered the laptop via phone. And I do have an order number in my email. Not sure if it's just the quote everyone is talking about.
Only shifty thing is when I plug in the order number and whatever else they need to look it up, everything looks right except there's no "bill to" or "ship to". Both are just N/A. -
It seems that Dell's customer service is really inconsistent. Some reps say it's an illegal price/config, while others let it pass. They need to fix this. Hopefully the people who do receive the laptop get the 9800's and not 8700's instead.
-
Oh, and I noticed one other thing on my invoice.....listed Home Premium 64 bit.
-
Lol, even if you get 32 bit that's still great since you can easily buy 64 bit vista and windows 7 with the money you saved.

I just realized this picture of the w90 resembles the teaser picture of the new alienware allpowerful to be announced in june
see the resemblance? -
The vents do look similar. Positioning of the vents and the angles of the front are different.
-
vents a little everything else no
