If it comes with 8700M GT's instead, will dell pay the shipping to return it to them?

yeah if you check the page now for the m1730 you will see that the 999 one has 8700's in it.. imo it was a mistake on dell's part we may even see some cancelations by dell

thats stupid on dells part. how they gonna confuse 9800m gt sli for a 8700m sli.

i have seen them do this alot of times though so it maybe something that they can make money off of somehow.

i hope they won't cancel my order since i ordered 28hours ago. I think the deal was intended by dell. One of you guys here confirmed that they shipped out the order for that deal, so the deal is true. I think the link is dead 'cuz they're out of stock for that liquidation

what the guy i know said is the dell rep said if you looked that page said "1730test" and it was not supposed to be listed as it was. again i cant be sure this is speculation right now its just what my freind was told when he called about his order not showing up on his account.

i still would have taken the chance and order one ...

when the 9800m first came out, they offer gtx just $100 more from gt. now it's gone. I don't know if we call and asked for the gtx for the phone order.

if you refuse the order, and it returns to dell, the have the right to keep the laptop and not refund you your money.

in order to return a laptop, you MUST have an RMA.

i read this in one of the m1730 posts.

Too bad they aren't selling the WoW M1730 anymore. That with these specs for a little bit more would be an even better deal. Even if you don't like WoW, the WoW edition looked so much better.

from what i read on slickdeals.net, if the confirmation order email still stated "9800m" , i think the assembly techician will read and install component according to the order confirmation. I hope my order confirmation email won't be changed

Can speak from experience (multiple times, as recent as last week, this is not the case). Myself and my Business Customers order allot of Dell systems and we routinely check the website for a Service Tag number after a system ships so we can confirm the config (ex. presence of an LG panel for certain systems, etc). We started doing this after a rash of errors on their part, interesting there is now a 48 hour delay on getting an invoice/service tag after shipping).

You can refuse, the system will go back to the shipper and sometimes sits in their depot for 3-4 days before returned to Dell (my rep told me this is done as some people refuse then change their mind). It then goes back to Dell.

If you can check prior to delivery you can always accept and not open, Dell will pay for return shipping.

Wish everyone well, I ordered one of the dual 8700 based M1730's when they lowered the price to $999 a couple of weeks ago. Incredibly nice system, amazing 1920 LG panel, quiet and cool. If you can get by the size and weight (the AC adapter is almost the same dimensions as my HP 2140. His system also came with Dell M1730 backpack (made by Swiss Gear)

That's kind of dumb. You order something, they switch it out without letting you know. Then you open it, find out you got the part and you have to pay for their error? If they're not going to ship with the parts listed on the order, they should just cancel it for you. There should be no risk on your part since you knew fully well what you were buying.

OK, I found both my invoice and service tag online for the new system. The invoice states: "1GB Nvidia Dual GeForce 9800M GT". Under the service tag code it says: "F979M CRD,GRPHC,NVIDIA,G92,9800M-GT2".

Now I'm glad I never got to cancel the order. :)

I have an "Order Has Been Acknowledged" email, but that email says "What's Next? You will receive an Order Confirmed email shortly with your customer number, order number(s), estimated ship date and final purchase amount."
Still waiting on that email... still no recent orders showing up in my account. I'm a bit worried.

Another sick deal kind of thing? Well 1600, could you get at least Q9000 and FX3700M in it? If so I'd say it's a huge deal, and of course with the 17" RGB in it.
