I have the same issue. If you have your order number (or some other identifier), you can go to the support web page and click on "My Order Status" and it should show up there. Mine does, and my Dell account has been charged, so everything looks OK. I ordered mine through EPP, so I think that is why it doesn't show up on my account.

Has anyone found any benchmarks or reviews related to this laptop? I'm mainly interested in reading about the screen, how the dual 9800m GT in SLI compares to popular desktop video configs, and the construction quality of the chassis in detail.

I did a thread search on the the word Benchmark and it appears no one else has mentioned it. I'm mainly interested in 3dmark06 and vantage scores. I assume the CPU is going to be reason for low scores, but I have a T9300 ready to replace the T8100.

Weird. I ordered one, and when I tried to check the order status, it didn't work.

So, I called. They bumped me around twice before finally telling me it only went through as a quote, not as an order...

...but I got an order acknowledgment email. I never got the follow up order confirmed email, but I definitely went through the ordering process.

That's extremely strange. The woman assured me no order took place, so now maybe I can save another 15 bucks, but I am worried now that suddenly it will go through and they'll charge me for it, so I don't know what to do.

Dang it. Hit by the Dell Customer Service curse once more! They were very definitive sounding, but I don't know whether to trust them or not!

Nuts. Did you get an e-mail confirming your order? If you are logged into your account, try logging out of it and then check the status on the support page without logging back in.

    Hope it works for you.

Thanks a lot, I am a little of like lazybones who are tired of following the Microsoft's jargons.

Thanks a lot, so as long as the DVDs are OEM, it will be just fine?

Any link of ordering this DVD from Microsoft? Maybe I think I have to call them/have a live chat and provide them with the OEM keys I have with my laptop so they can sell the OEM DVD x64 to me at this price...?

Anybody feel like being brave and making an ISO of a Dell 64-bit home premium disc available?

You can usually convince Dell to mail you a 64 bit disc if you get in a support chat with them.

Also, there is no such thing as a "64 bit home premium disc" (though yes, Dell does label their discs as "Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate," you can install other versions as noted in my below chart.

    For Vista, it's like this:
32 bit OEM disc (good for all OEM versions, X86 only)
64 bit OEM disc (good for all OEM versions, X64 only)
32 bit Retail disc (good for all Retail versions, X86 only)
64 bit Retail disc (good for all Retail versions, X64 only)
Retail Ultimate disc (good for all Retail versions, both X86 and X64)

I am actually in the process of writing a guide for this.

Yeah, and if you order something outside of what your account type is the system can't seem to handle it. Mine is always EPP and when I first tried to order this rig, everything was fine when I checked out online but when I checked back the next day the price had doubled  !! Turns out that EPP wasn't set up to honor the deal that we all have been hitting. Once I got someone from EPP on the phone, we were able to go in and pull the correct configuration from my cart and get everything straight.

I don't know about Microsoft, but I believe this link contains the details of what you need to do to get the disc from Dell.

I finally made an order with almost everything default, 250GB 7200RPM Hard Drive and the Bluetooth module! I am sure it's not in production yet, but could you tell me when exactly you called Dell you wanted the grey wings for free? Before or during the 'in-production' process? I really have no problem with the blue ones, but the grey wings just look a little better.

DAMN it's gonna be my 8th lappy after I clicked YES for this order!

Guys I need some advice please. I recently bought a p7805u refurb gateway for $700 is a 1920x1200 screen. Amazing machince. Then I jumped over this deal. I went for a T8300 processor (which I shouldnt have)..it came upto $1329 (including tax) Anyways I called to cancel and they told me it cannot be done since the xps is already in production. However they agreed not to charge me any restocking fee if I return it without opening the box. The rep also offered me a $60 discount if I decided to keep it.

Anyways Now I am a bit confused. Should I keep my gateway..or is it worth paying all that extra $$$ for dell xps?? Would really appreciate some help here!

Mine was shipped on Saturday. The estimated delivery date is still 6/1, but I really don't think it will take over 2 weeks for it to travel from TN to NC. It will probably arrive shortly after my Sager. :D

im hearing from a ton of people i know that ordered this the same thing. from what i "heard" from someone who called dell today to ask about this he spoke with xps support since he already owns one and they didnt want to look up his order but i guess they did (he is usually reliable but not always) he was told this was not supposed to come with 9800's it was never supposed to be posted with those and it was supposed to have 8700's instead for the 999$ he said the guy at dell that he talked to told him some people may fine 8700's installed when they get their systems not the 9800's as was shown. he was told they pulled this as it was a "test page" and was not intended to be sold that way.

again i cant say how true that is but if you get it for the 999 and get the 9800's you GOT VERY LUCKY. there is NOTHING for that price anywhere to be had. i still wish i would have got in on this im kicking myself for not getting one
