intel 160GB sdd for 289.99 and $20 off with this code HARDOCPX615D
Newegg.com - Intel 320 Series SSDSA2CW160G310 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - SSD
-
intel 320 series has 3.0gb/s while intel 510 series uses 6.0gb/s
Ditch the 320 series and go for 510 series
Intel 510 series is one of the top 5 best ssd on the market. -
wow dude. i was recommending the price. it's a sweet deal. not everybody needs sata 3 even though they have it and some people need more than 120 gigs but don't have the money for 250 gigs.
-
On top of that, the 510 has been a bit buggy lately (doesn't use an Intel controller), for example the 510 has a warm boot issue on the W520. I'm looking at getting this 320 (assuming I can't get a 310 80GB, which I'm sure I'll never get lol).

you can't beat $270 for a 160 gig ssd. i want to get one, but i already have one.
-
Yeah my bad, And about the price well new egg always has good cheap deals related to computers and pc components compared to most retailers. What's up with that! A 160gb would usually be around $300-$400, but you managed to find one under $300. The 320 series is still a decent processor too. I was thinking of getting one at the time, but choosed the 510 series.
-
i got for $295 from newegg. i see it for 290 and 300 before.

Dunno why people think they need SATA 6 when that performance is only with sequential read/writes which isn't that important for most users. If you copy lots of large files (like > 1GB) then ok, but not many people use their SSD's for copying large files. 4k random is where it's at, and SATA 3 is more than adequate for any drive at the moment.
Good deal, thanks for sharing! -
Exactly, who is going to get an SSD just for large file transfers, no one. I think an ssd is worth the faster boot up time and faster data retrieval. I also bet in 4 years that there will be dramatic cuts in the costs of SSD's which are becoming more and more popular. Yes though hard drives (SATA 3) still work plenty fine.
What I like about an SSD over that. they stay in a solid state of efficiency (name says it all).
no noise from them, better gaming, more battery life, no defragging, flash memory -
This deal is $285 now after coupon which is still a good price.

I bought one just a few hours ago. I'm a bit pissed off that I waited this long (I could have gotten it at $269.99, but I have been out of town). I should be coming home soon with this package (along with 16GB Mushkin RAM that was on sale for $54.99 per 8GB) the day after.
