I ordered on 5/22 and kept my mouth shut hoping it would go through. I got the notice someone posted elsewhere about incorrectly keying in the credit card number or some such nonsense. Serves me right, I suppose. Now I'm going to try and make friends at Lenovo because I really want that laptop!

I ordered 5/23, my order is still alive. Let's hope it stays that way.
-
Mine is still alive as well....
and to add insult to injury for those who have canceled or been canceled......ordered mine 5/28, thru the EPP deal along with an accessory on the same order which shipped yesterday so they can't now use the bad cc# excuse to cancel my T60.....
(opted for the flexview for my wife instead of the newer T61) -
The first rule of internet bargain hunting...DO NOT CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE!
99% of the time it is the anonymity of web transactions that keep these deals alive. -
one got their laptop two days ago and is using it.
the other got the order cancelled by Lenovo, despite keeping their "mouth" shut.
mines and anothers are still "in process" and received confirmation that it will not be in late August as the order status states. -
Goren, would it be possible for your friend with the laptop to us a favor? Have him go to the warranty check page, you can get to it though your account, its a place where you can type in your serial number and it tells you how long is left for your warranty, and have him see if his warranty is still valid.
I would seriously, seriously, appreciate it. -
-
johnny, how do you know that they would only invalidate it when you ask to use it? there is no confirmation of that anywhere. All I have heard is that when they ask the employee to okay your order, and they say no, they will cancel the warranty that moment. Why would they just wait to cancel it until you ask? That would be deceptive at best, because anyone who wanted to check would see they had a valid warranty, but would then be denied service. Nah, i do not believe they do it like that. Now, they may not have caught him yet, which would be fine and dandy, good for him.

no, thats not exactly your point. What you said was that when you ask for them to fix something, they void your warranty. What I said is that when THEY check with the EMPLOYEE whose information you used - when they ask the employee if they ok'd your purchase, and that employee says no, they void the warranty at that instant, or within a couple days most likely. That way, if you checked it online, it would say that you do not have a valid warranty, regardless of whether you ask them to fix it or not.
-
There have been some reports of people finding fairly late that their warranty had been voided. (No, I don't remember who said that and I'm too lazy to search for it.) The problem is that even if those reports are reporting events exactly as they happened, they do not say *when the warranty was voided*, they only tell us when the buyer *found out that it had been voided*.

oh I see what you were saying now. I got the feeling that if they were going to ask, they would ask as soon as the order came in, but if they didn't ask then then you were pretty much ok on the warranty. It still seems kind of counter-intuitive to me.
2 years from now, person needs a laptop fix, so they call lenovo. At that point lenovo asks the employee if they allowed this person to buy a laptop two years ago...? odd, but i guess it could happen. -
I figured there is the possibility that when a bunch of EPP orders they might all go through if sales is not somehow alerted by people calling and such. Then possibly the EPP dpt. has a report generated every so often that raises a red flag on certain employee EPP accounts. Then at that point the employee is contacted. By this time some people have already received there laptops. The ones that shipped might have a voided warranty and the ones that didn't yet ship will get canceled.
Bottom line it's some protocol that probably not to many people know for sure about unless you work in the EPP dept. where these things are handled.
I stick with my original stance on this. I'd be willing to forfeit my one year warranty for the discount and figure that I have a good chance that nothing will go wrong with the laptop in the first year or take it to a local for repair. BUT, I wouldn't chance paying extra for an extended warranty and risk getting that canceled too. -
I cant disagree with the logic here, but only if you are talking about a "normal" EPP order. In this case, where one IBM employee is tied to potentially hundreds of orders on his Serial #, the chances that lenovo would act proactively to verify the orders is more probable. I think we will learn a lot of details surrounding Meyers orders this week. I know if I was still holding onto a Meyers order, I would simply want to know immediately from Lenovo if it will be cancelled or not (including warranty)...so that I could look forward to the machine (and no associated problems), or move on and buy something else.

its true, s4, I want answers!
At this point, I am still looking into other laptops just in case my deal gets canned. If it does, I'll hold on till the 4th of July sale and make my decision then. Until my ship date, I am going to desperately try to find out if the extra warranty I paid for is going to be around (If it gets canceled, they will refund the money, but I don't want the money, I want the warranty). If I don't get an answer, I may cancel at the last minute... -
yeah im worried about the extended warranty that i purchased. i got the 3 year on site one. at the very least, if they do cancel the warranty (should my laptop even ship), i hope they can refund most of the cost of it.
-
ok....i caved and called to check the status of mine.
Estimated ship date still shows 8/27. The csr told me it did indeed show an 8/27 ship but it was one of the orders caught up in the ship date "glitch" and should ship within 3 weeks of the order.
main point is that the order is still active with no red flags or sirens going off when the csr opened up my order.....
It's gonna ship......i can feel it.....LOL -
i ordered 6/3 and it just shipped today. i figured it would be canceled and i sent them an email to cancel couple days ago but it still shipped.

My X60 order from 6/5 shipped yesterday using Meyers EPP !!!
-

Anyone had anything to the likes of their order being rebooked for a much higher price? Say from 1200 to about 1850? This just happened to me today with an order date of 5/24 and a new ship date of 6/29 (from 8/27). Do I have any recourse or should I just cancel this order?

check the lenovo blog, apparently they know about this error and it should be fixed
