and i got the confirmation days later, actually 4 of them in a row for the same order number so who knows![]()
-
Anyway to get live + cpp + coupon to work?
-
I just got billed. Does that mean it ships soon?
(Funny story: My bank called asking if my account had been compromised cause I had a $976 transaction from PayPal.
)
-
Lenovo makes the charge when the computer ships. If it is an actual charge on your card, and not just an invoice email, then it should be/have been shipped.
-
Wahooo! Yeah, I was definitely charged. I had a 9/22 ship date, too. Guess that meant 9/2?
Go figure. -
Sure it wasn't a temp charge?
-
Way to dash my hopes and dreams.
No, I have no idea if it's a temp charge or not. What's that? -
Lenovo will place a temp charge on your card that is merely to make sure that you have the funds on your card to complete the purchase. This charge will not show up as a completed charge on your card and will not be reflected on your "balance due" on the card itself.
So did the charge go through and do you see the charge reflected in your total balance?
I just talked to a representative who told me no U330's are going out for another three to four weeks.
So if they did charge you and it's not a temp charge, then you should file a complaint with them, as they are not supposed to do a full charge until your laptop ships. -
yup, are you sure it wasnt a temporary charge? I saw my remaining credit remaining drop by about 1000 after i bought one - lenovo must verify our credit card information, etc - but then it disappeared
that would be sweet if they started shipping them, but you'd think they would send it out to the people that had earlier ship dates... -
Hm. Ok. I guess I got over excited when my bank called about possible fraud due to the purchase.
I'll go back to waiting patiently for another month. -
I just called and my ship date has been pushed forward from the 10th to September 21.
-
09/29/08 is my ship date.
09/01/08 was my order date.
- I ordered mine Yesterday. I have been trolling here for a while, and I cant wait for the laptop to come... 3GB of DDR3!

Chatted with a sales agent today. My ship date got pushed from 9/02 to 9/29. Are they even allowed to push it back that far without telling you? I'm thinking about making a fuss, but I don't know what good it'd do. I really need this system asap for classes. Sigh...
-
Wow that's rough, I've had a 9/22 shipment date since mid-August and it hasn't changed at all.
-
o wow if yours got pushed that much, i'm sure others (like me) with 9/22 original ship date will get pushed til like october
-
Yep, from what I have read it seems everyone's ship dates are being pushed back three weeks.
-
Yup, mine is 9/30
-
Hmm, still 9/11 for me, i think it'll be a miracle if i get it anytime close to that though
-
Ordered mine on 8/24 and just checked the status and I'm still seeing a 9/22 ESD.
-
Call and let us know what they say.
-
It looks like Microsoft Live is no longer doing the Lenovo deal. I can't find the Lenovo store in the site. Also, the prices for the U330 on Lenovo's website have gone up $50 for both models.
-
Yea, looks like the window of opportunity is closed, if anyone is looking to buy this laptop still i have an extra quote i made on the lenovo page for price matching. I'd have to find it but i think its around $1000. post here or send private message if you're interested

I have another update for those who thought about upgrading the wireless adapter:
I called and tried to have the Intel WiFi Link 5100 upgraded to the 5300, at my expense of course. Aside from not having a configure-to-order option for the U330, the U330 lacks the three antennae required for the WiFi Link 5300. Sucks for those of us that run Wireless-N at home and want to take full advantage of it. -
Try the live link it didn't work.
I brought a T61p last year before school start and after some negotiating with the sales rep he give me the 10% online coupon discount on top of the student discount. Dunno if it'll work now.
BTW does this laptop has bluetooth? -
What are you talking about? Of course the U330 is not CTO, but it does have the 3 antennae. (See the white, black, and gray cables). Thank you, come again.
-
I thought 5100 was also N, but just @ 150 lower mb/s transfer (300 as opposed to 450).
-
Nice! Freakin' sales reps...
-
yup
there's some more info here: http://support.intel.com/network/connectivity/products/wireless/adapters/5000/index.htm -
Just ordered a 5300 from Lagoom.com for $47.46 shipped. They also carry the Tunbo Memory 2.0 4gb module, but that was nearly $80 so I decided to hold off.
-
Can you provide the URL to the 5300 that you purchased? There are three of them, not sure which one is compatible.
How hard is it to install this card? Is the only difference, in the speed of the N wireless? -
The part number seems to match up for the Full mini-PCIe form factor. I dont know if the antennae simply clip on and off, so I cant say what the installation will entail. Mine shipped out already, so I would advise waiting and I will confirm it is the right part.

For a second I thought you meant your U330 shipped! Hehe..
-
HasLenovo changed the CPU on the IdeaPad U330? I see people on this thread who ordered one configured with Intel Montevina P7350 2GHz 1066mhz FSB 3MB but the only option that is showing for the one I am looking at w/320GB (the bigger of the two offered) is:
Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor P7350 ( 2GHz 667MHz 1MB )
What's up with that? -
either more typos or we've all been duped
-
100% a typo
the p7350 is strictly 2.0ghz 1066mhz fsb, 3Mb cache -
Lenovo called me last Friday telling me my order was still slated to be sent on Sept. 23rd. However, they will do their best to expedite it. I thought it was nice of them to call.
-
Wow, i'm suprised they called. I haven't received a call but the date still shows 9/22 for delivery.
-
I was informed today that each week they don't know an exact release date, they are told to give a three to four week time frame. (this was in response to my asking why is it that two weeks ago I was told 3 to 4 weeks and today it's the same time frame.)
-
Are you saying units will likely be shipped on time? Or just that Lenovo prefers to give a conservative estimate as to ship dates?
-
I don't think Lenovo has any idea when these laptops will ship. If what they say is to be believed, it is all up to whomever is their supplier for the 6-cell laptop batteries.
Reps have recently told me that it looks more like mid to the end of October for laptops to start to ship, but can't guarantee anything. -
I ordered the U330 on 8/24 using CPP (got cash back by emailing MS) and got an initial estimated ship date of 9/22. I chatted with a rep earlier regarding the order status and this was what she had to say:
Amy Parkin: That U330 system is on a back order. It is delayed and is taking 3-4 weeks to ship
Customer: so is that 3-4 weeks from 9/22 or as of today?
Amy Parkin: AS of the day you purchased
Customer: i purchased it on 8/24, so is my ship date of 9/22 still active?
Customer: or is that pushed back?
Amy Parkin: It is pushed back. 10/2 is your estimated shipping date
So crap, looks like most of us will have to wait a bit longer. -
i really hate this...dell is the same. Why the hell selling pc but can't fullfill customer orders. ARe they stupid or something? I figured the more they sell the more money they make, right? Keep them in stock, hired more people, **** it!
BTW, I ordered mine on the 8/22, shipped date still 9/19 on the check your order page! -
I ordered mine on 9/1...
Website shows the unit will ship 9/29
I called Lenovo and they said now the U330 is going to ship 8/6.....
-
did u mean 10/6?
a week delay wouldnt be terribly bad...but if it is end of october like some are saying, well that is ridiculous -
I just talked to a CSR and he openly admitted that they have no clue when these laptops will be ready to ship. They stated that there is a supply issue with displays and batteries. Until those supplies are replenished, there will be zero laptops shipped.
He did say that every week their "3 to 4 weeks" is extended if they haven't heard from their suppliers on the parts they need. -
Here's a new Lenovo $200 off coupon: USPSEPTDEAL
$1,199.00 - $200 = $999.00 -
Pretty good deal for those that missed the cashback or 15% off coupon. The higher config came to $1348-$100 pricematch- $109 cashback = $1139 with 3yr Accidental Warranty. The pm and cashback are both pending, so we'll see if that works out.
-
Yes, 10/6... -
Okay, so I got the following e-mail from Lenovo as a response to one I sent them about a week ago:
"Dear Adam,
Thank you for contacting Lenovo, the makers of ThinkPad and ThinkCentre products.
We apologize for the delay in response, this was primarily due to the status of your order.
We have been speaking with our supply management team about your order and unfortunately
we cannot fulfill this order at this time. The ideapad you have purchased is currently out of stock
and we are waiting for the suppliers to replenish the stock in our warehouse. You can continue to
keep your order active, however we do not believe your order will ship until mid October. If you
cannot wait that long we understand if you may wish to cancel. Please call a sales representative
to cancel your order at 1-866-428-4465.
If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reply to this email, or to call
us at 1-866-42-THINK (428-4465). We will be happy to assist you further at that time.
Once again, thank you for contacting Lenovo."
Keep in mind I ordered mine on 8/19 with an original ship date of 9/2. Others who ordered theirs later are still getting ship dates as early as mid-September. So, yeah, they clearly have no idea when these systems are going to ship, but I'm gonna guess that they'll start early-to-mid-October. Also, I wouldn't necessarily trust the estimated ship date on your order status page. Mine said 9/2 even after a sales rep told me it was changed to 9/29. Now, it says 9/30 even though it's evidently slated for sometime in the middle of October.
This system had better live up to the hype. I'm getting pretty tired of Lenovo's "customer service." -
Lame... by the time the U330s begin to ship, they will probably be offering a higher config with a P8600. Eh, I figured I'd be waiting a while. Its definitely a hot item, and after comparing it to what the competition has to offer, I will gladly wait.
