You sure can if you burn your "digital copy" to a dvd/cd and install it into your partition. I am not quite sure what kind of file of the "digital copy", but I 99% sure that it should be in .iso file ( or other image format)

interesting, i might ask my college friend to get one for me then

I just got that one for 29.95 but unfortunately, I didnot knew that my gf also got that for me with physical disk. So, can I sell that physical one or it is not allowed?
-
You can't sell the one you got for 29.95 but I dont see why you can't sell the other physical disc as long as it was a "normal" full price version.
-
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
Thats the same 29.95 version with physical disk shipped. Can it be sold?
-
-
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
So still waiting for reply!!
Can that physical disk be sold?
I mean in ebay or amazon. -
Just bought my copy for $42.99
Windows 7 Pro - 64 bit w/physical disk
@spradhan
I'm pretty sure you can sell the physical disk. I don't see anything wrong with it. Just don't sell out your CD key with the disk because you are already using it and that would make it "illegal" to have two of the same copies running at the same time...
Now, here comes the hard part. The waiting...(bangs head on desk *) -

I wish but my faculty members are very talented that they didn't knew what MSDN was and when I asked for my MSDN access info, they gave me my college id card with the picture of me smiling infront of it.

Now I know that I can get Win 7 from my university and it is accepted by Microsoft but I dont understand how to get it by having such faculty.
-
So if I get the hard copy, it's basically the same one that anyone can buy when Windows 7 comes out?
I wouldn't mind selling it to get a few bucks as every buck counts as a college student, unless that's not legal... -

You won't be allowed to sell your Win7 - it won't be the exact same as the retail version (software wise it will be though, so don't worry). It's stated in the EULA.
-
already got it for free through my school

I'm not a student anymore, but I submitted my alumni email address (<name>@alumni.<school>.edu) and it seemed to work. It says that it sent me a confirmation email that will have a link that I need to use to access the store, where I can purchase my license/product key before downloading Windows 7.
Just got the email, followed the link, and it looks like I'm able to buy it.
What's the deal with this being an "upgrade" version? What's the difference between this and a non upgrade version? I want to be able to take a new (empty/unformatted) hard drive, put it in a laptop, boot from the Windows 7 DVD (I'm assuming it's a DVD and not a CD, but whatever it is...), and install it. Is this possible with this upgrade version, or is this only for use on a computer that's already running Vista or XP? -
im asking the same question too mate... check out the windows 7 thread,,,

LINK
<DT> Are these products Academic license(s)/version(s)?<DD>No, these are retail versions, which provide all the benefits you would receive if you bought it at the store
</DD> -
Uh, I'm pretty sure they're the upgrade versions, which you CAN buy at a store (being a retail version doesn't mean it's not the upgrade version).
However, from what I've read, you just need the XP CD to prove you're upgrading during the install process. If upgrading from XP, it requires a "full"/"clean"/"overwrite everything on my drive" install anyway. -
-
Is there a separate 64 bit version or does it let you choose between 32 and 64 bits?
-
It lets you choose.
-
Anybody else here excited as me that it's coming out in 2 days?
-
yep except for me its only 18 1/2 hours for me (or 19 1/2 depending wether they release it by daylight savings or not???)
-
-
no except they screwed us with this deal... they havnt put it up yet and its currently 3:50am...
and we couldnt pre-order it so i will have to pay fro it and download it latter on today (when i wake back up probs...) ahhh what a nightmare... bloody MS australia can never get anything right, they need to pull their heads outa their bloody you know whats if you ask me... -
I hope someone who gets a hard copy will tell us about it. It might be hard to sell if it's just a run-of-the-mill blank DVD with the ISO burned on and shipped in one of those paper packets..........
-
got it around 2AM EST and it's really nice
although i didn't need to install any drivers manually it's still cool that Toshiba made sure their drivers were compatible with older models. -
Can you go from Vista OEM to Windows 7 Retail and transfer that license onto another computer? I've never upgraded before. I know you can do this with retail full versions and that OEM versions cannot be transferred.
retail (say vista) upgraded to retail (say Windows 7)
OEM (say vista) upgraded to retail (say windows 7)
With the above two said, can they be transferred onto another new computer? If yes, do I have to install vista first then upgrade to windows 7 everytime? -
Perfect!!!!!!!!! Mexican Universities apply!!! I just ordered my copy!

2 questions
I have vista 32 bits version, the link says that
If your goal is to install the 64-bit version of Windows 7 on a computer running Windows XP or Windows Vista 32-bit, you will need to include the Backup DVD with your Order and install Windows 7 using this DVD media
Has anyone actually successful install the download version (64 bits) rather than ordering the dvd media
Q2- related to Q1- since the version is a full version, so why can't I format the drive and do a clean install of 64 bit W7? Since it really does not matter u have a 32 or 64 bits -
Got it, but had to go to the bloody Australian website and and go through that. Either way it's in my hands now. Just wondering to ppl who've gotten it, is it a full installation disk? Or just an upgrade. I've read the "Installing and reinstalling" article but I'm still un-sure, or rather want confirmation.
Anyway thanks for the awesome heads up, cheap Windows 7!! =) -
I've downloaded my copy of Win7 Pro 64 bit, and by following this
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=427568
I made it into a bootable ISO of Windows 7. You can either upgrade or do a clean install from the bootable ISO which is burnt to a DVD. And It will only install the version that you bought. It will not give you a choice to choose any other version of Windows 7 to install. -
i think I may finally jump on this. I was planning on not buying win 7 until the RC expired in June, but this is a nice deal.
-
it's a great deal, people should get this!
-
Indeed a great deal. Ordered two upgrades myself!
-
The keys they give you by email are compatible with the retail DVD versions, BTW. Just in case you possess the disc somehow.
-
anyone had any luck getting additional copies using student discount? i guess it's one per student email account.
-
Has anyone who ordered the backup DVD gotten it yet? I got an email 12 days ago saying mine had shipped but have yet to receive it.
-
-
how long does it take to get the key and download in the email?
-
if you pre-ordered then you should've received an email w/ key early morning of oct. 22nd. if u purchase it now i would assume you'll get your key and the link to win7 download as soon as you make the payment.
-
Yeah, I ordered a week after the 22nd and instantly got an email/download.
Windows 7 upgrade for $29.95 (you will need to be an enrolled student)
