I'm sorta partial to the computer set-ups that double as tv/entertainment center, basically because I'm looking to turn my room into one with a nice 26-32" tv as a monitor.

What the hey, might as well toss my setup into the mix.
I hate my dorm, but I'm stuck with it until may, so I guess I'm making do reasonably well.
And my setup when I'm at home with a tolerably-sized desk space...
Asus G1S-A1
Samsung 205BW
Harmon Kardon AVR 146
Polk Audio RTi4 bookshelves
Snoopy Snowcone Maker (pssh, beat that!). I wish I could get some better (updated) pics, but I'm 300miles from home, so those will have to do, and the best camera I have access to is my phone, which explains the terrible grain of the dorm-shots.
Aiming for a sonosub and a new desktop before the start of next semester. -
Very nice
Nice and clean, I like!
-
The wiring was an atrocity when I was at home (I was only there for 2 weeks, and didn't feel like cleaning it all up only to rip it up a few days later). It isn't much better at the dorm. I can't fit my cooler's power brick through the back, so I have the cable going out the side, and where the monitor is, I have to run the cables off the side of the shelf.
I have since moved the external HD (which you can barely see on the left side of the reciever) into a new horizontal enclosure on top of the right speaker, and moved the monitor to the right side of the shelf. I moved it so I could get a better angle from lying in bed, since all I do is watch movies on the external. -
Seriously, thats a very nice setup - I think you have a good eye for a good looking simple arrangement. Looks good even in the dorm room - most peoples stuff looks like a total mess in those. -
2 Liquid Steel.Nice Room!
-
Liquid Steel, I Applaud your use of PVC and Toliet flanges for speaker stands. You may want to paint them though to help disguise them.
-
Not toilet flanges, though. They are sealed, which was the main reason I didn't use toilet flanges. Both ends of the PVC are sealed, which is nice because I filled the tube with sand and assorted scrap metal. -

Here is my setup at college (yes I installed an extra lock on the door
). Rig in the sig, Xbox 360, 32" Toshiba LCD, and of course my Sennheiser 595's keep me "on task" on those long study sessions.
...The monitor doesn't look that bad in person.
Enjoy! -
ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
There's my CPU cooler.. *cries* ..
On a side note, I just organized most of my power cables (I have tons), so I really should take a picture of my setup. Getting my new laptop parts tomorrow, so maybe then. -
^^^ yep, looks good doesn't it! It does the job and for the price I paid I couldn't be happier.

My system includes the same speakers and I agree with you - I'm very happy with them. (My gf is not. She's forever telling me to, "Turn that damn noise down!") LOL -
-
Not much, but does the job for me.
Got my 500GB external HDD next to the laptop.
26" Sammy HDTV on top - used to have my XBox 360 connected to it, but sold the 360 a little while ago since i got bored of it, so I link my laptop up to it sometimes.
-
-
rofl, yeh it is a bit of a monster! lol
-
can you change the keyboard color or is it stuck on purple?
-
You can change the LED colours..
-
yeah i was leaning toward the xps or the m15x. since the m15x is obvious you can change the led when configuring it.
-
Well my setup has changes a bit so here are some new pictures.

Cool setup. I like the fact that you have both the laptop and the external monitor side by side. Handy.
Will post pics of my setup whenever the laptop I want gets released. I've got a 47'' philips ambilight tv that I use as my monitor, surround sound system, Loftgoods Gamepod chair with matching ottoman, and will possibly buy the starter kit for philips AMBX. Should be sweet once it's all set up. -
-
lol, a dock for the iPod mini. I made one out of legos.
