It is a 4 year old Ikea Jerker (the table version). I think they make a new model that isn't as deep (I got it when I still had a 22in CRT, so I wanted the deepest thing possible). I believe the new one is called Frederik, but I am not positive.

Yeah the Frederik is the newer one. I should have gotten that instead of the desk I have now.

This is a beauty, no? It's stuffed into a little alcove/closet area just off the garage. It's a beater machine used for nothing aside from disto-hopping with Linux. Notice the extra effort put into cable management, and how well the assorted peripherals match and blend into so nice a theme: Modern Classic Male Mess. [IMG]

Still have them, yang, but thought people could use a good laugh seeing the shots above. :D

The desktop isn't a G5, though, it's a MacPro. Look the same, but the MacPro has Intel innards.

    Good to see you, btw.

A silly collection, I know, but I probably could wear a different one every day for the next couple of years.

The weather's nice lately, yang. Actually, it's been downright hot for the past couple of days, but humidity really isn't an issue. Good-lookin' guy in the avatar, ain't he, but he needs a bigger boat. :D

Well, my desktop has changed a bit since last time I posted, which was probably quite a while ago. The desktop in the picture isn't near finished yet...I am waiting on water cooling related parts so I just put it together air cooled for the time being...

i found it on the site, it is Fredrik. it is only $120 and i want to buy it, but i live in syracuse,ny and the closest store is in NYC.i added it to the cart and went along to see what it would add up to, and with shipping/handling and tax it comes up to $400.

i can't find any other places that sell it.

can anyone recommend some other table style desks?

I'll more than likely be building my new desk out of an 8ft piece of laminate countertop, and some prefabbed legs from either ikea, or home depot. If you are so inclined, it is pretty cost effective, if you just want a flat, sturdy surface.

That's why I didn't get it because I would have had to go to Illinois to get it. Soon after though they built a store in Ohio, go figure.

I am selling my old computer, so I took it apart to dust it out today and while I was at it snapped a few up to date pictures as most of the old ones I lost or were poor quality. I have to share a handfull of them because they are like works of art! The front intake could be a wallpaper!

All of these are with my point & shoot and no tripod.

Those are the pretty ones, all the rest I will put in my for sale thread later.

    Me too.

$47 for the case, $8 for the window. I love it, but it could use a better airflow (I'm working on a solution for that now...).

Thats a great price for a case that looks like that!

    As for cooling:

Cut a hole in the side panel for a fan blowing in on your components

Cut a hole in the top back blowing out

Mount a fan in the front bays to blow in and i think it will stay really chilly in there!

That is a very sleek looking laptop. May I ask what you used to attach it to the laptop? I would think glue would come unstuck due to the heat.

Sorry about the quality but these pictures were taken on my new phone and I haven't had the time to tweak the camera settings.

From left to right: Averatec 2155 my mobile rig, Toshiba P4 from 2004 my new possible home server, and my dell vostro 1700 my main rig. Pretty plain setup, but I like it and it works out.
