Yes, you know it....That *Rum* cough...Desk Paperweight is aging very well :D And, continues to add to the ambience of the room, don't you think! :p :D

LoL...Yeah, I have to maintain some sense of order in at least one area of each of my rooms in my house...LOL..

It is nice have the sort of freedom you have with a lappy, you can use your desk space..but also go about your house without limitations! :D

Woooaahhh so clean! LOL! so true.

    I use a program called "Teleport" http://abyssoft.com/software/teleport/ and here's how to: http://www.ehow.com/how_2135941_one-mouse-keyboard-using-teleport.html

I can teleport my cursor to any macintosh that share the same network or bluetooth connection.

Dude that is an amazing amount of stuff you have there.

I can't wait to get mine up and going. I'm going to get a desk (from Ikea obviously) soon and try to emulate some of these since they're so cool. I never realized there were so many people with style out there.

Windows can be a little piece of Heaven sometimes. :D
Yes. Mac Pro & MacBook Pro
That looks like a late 90's HP Pavillion with a Compaq monitor running Windows Me?
At least the thing still works like an iPhone.

My desk is pretty old (at least 4 or 5 years old) and it was custom made. I mean I didn't bought it from Ikea - I brought a couple of people here, told them my plan and they made it from scratch. I also remember the good fortune, spent on building it. ;P
I can advise you to look for an U-shaped one. Here's a photo of what my desk looks like:

It's perfect if you like to put your arms on your desk while typing.

I too love U-shaped desks. And you paying a fortune to build it is a good reason to take shop class in high school ;) Takes some practice, but I build a lot of the shelves and desks and such around the house, do all the electrical/sound wiring and such. Buying a few tools and knowing how to use them can save you a ton of money. And it's fun, so that's just a bonus ;)

Dude, Dead serious! :D I used my old desktop for about two weeks while my laptop was being fixed. It actually wasn't that bad, honest. :p :D

Correct! :D Although my parents decided to not get an HP/Compaq monitor, so the Polk Audio speakers (not attached, I just used headphones) didn't attach to the sides of the monitor. It's actually running Windows XP Home SP3 with the theme turned to "Windows Classic" (it made things feel just a bit more snappy) but it used to run Windows 98 SE. :)

Said desktop is now in the trunk of my car in the remote parking lot, ready for it's ride back home to it's corner desk in my little brothers bedroom in a few days

Interesting, and useful. I take it that the remote access features have a robust security setup, given your remark about limiting access by IP?

What hardware do you use for that home automation system? did you built it yourself or is it some package?

    BTW here's my room:

SSL is probably more important than IP filtering, since an IP can be spoofed by those with the desire to break and enter other peoples' networks (as opposed to the merely bored, who will only do it if it's easy to do).

Good stuff; it's disgusting how much perfectly good hardware is just chukked in the dustbin instead of being creatively reused. If I'm not mistaken, a lot of the current computer millionaires got their starts doing essentially the same thing - collecting disparate components and putting them together into a functioning system. The fact that you get yours from a dustbin, or the like, and they got theirs from Radioshack (or the equivalent) is irrelevant.

Yeah we have some middle school/high school hooligans running around doing stupid stuff in my area, would be nice to catch them on camera like my neighbor did. Not to mention being able to control my house remotely would be a huge plus too.

Yeah this is a very neat rig I see there. I have a bunch of parts lying around that I have always been interested in making a setup similar. Heck just the gasps and comments Id get would make it worth it.
