Well nothing new has been really going on for me this week as I continue working however I did get one of my drawings framed which I hung in my office. Costed me about 150 dollars to frame which was alot I feel but did in fact want to frame this one for some odd reason. The frame has some anti glare glass on it that is even better then the glass on my own Computer Monitor  . I also found an old laptop which I'm listing on the boards 4 free, lol. Oh but I did order my 2nd m17x-r3 laptop with the 6970 option, I'm going to try to cleanup my whole setup and find a way to use optimally use all 3-4 of my systems at one time without having it look like a mess :)

I recommend investigating Synergy for the multiple systems approach. Like a virtual kvm and works quite well

Lol I have images rotate every 5 minutes this was just the one that was up at the moment. I have since removed it because it's too bright of a wallpaper with lights off. I have also trade my MBP for iMac 27" Thanks for the complements, I would put new pics, but all that has changed is the iMac and a iPad.

First image is my current set up, all crammed into a room with only 1.65 square metres of floor space (no where else to put it all...). Since the photo was taken, have upgraded the keyboard and mouse to Alienware TactX (can't really get in a photo due to the size of the room...).

Second photo is for nostalgia's sake, old set up from a few months ago before the family decided to up and move. Must say I miss the space... you can also see I had to heavily modify my desk to fit the two big screens (well.. take the top shelving off!)

Whats the specs on your file servers? I was thinking about getting and old optyplex or something for a home file server but I wasn't sure if they could handle it.

The specs on the one I would buy are P4 3.0ghz with hyperthreading, a gig of ram, a couple 500gb HDDs (I would install them myself). I would also think about using it as an email server and MAYBE host a small webpage.

They're not very good, the black one is a Pentium E2500 with 1GB of RAM, only 80GB HDD as I haven't gotten around to install a bigger HDD yet, and I don't actually need it really, it only stores my software and music on it, the other one is a Pentium 4 2.8GHz with 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD, this one is the Domain Controller, Mail Server, and hosts Sharepoint - That's why the HDD is so low. It doesn't store anything else on it.

Alright, I couldn't find a proper section to post this but I really need help. Seeing as how there's 40+ users all posting their setup, I'm sure one of you uses or knows a nice desk to put your laptop/monitor on right?

I've spent literally hours trying to find a glass computer desk that looks nice but there are either bad reviews or it looks like .

Can you guys recommend me a nice-looking glass desk? I don't want any L-shape computer desks, and let's keep the length under 45 inches. Black glass would be best, but clear is nice as well. Anything over $200 is too much, but if it looks nice then I'm willing to put out the money for it.

If this is off-topic then a mod is welcome to delete it. Or at least point me where it should be posted. Thanks.

There are some server tasks that require so many resources that one box just wont work. I tried it at work with 15-25 people. Dual processor (both quad with HT) and 4 gigabit ethernet ports in link aggregation and users said it was slower then the servers it replaced. But for home use, smaller companies and environments with less needs I agree. Heck I use a t400 as a home server and it pulls many tasks: media, apache web server, SSH server, file server, ftp server, office TV, development box, and off site storage for work.

Granted there are only 2 users in the environment, but still quite impressive for a 3 year old laptop.
