I have the tv tuner on my model, its a little external arial that plug into a socket next to the usb ports on the dvd rom side of the laptop.
if you are in windows i could only get the tv to work using windows media center, tv seems to be diasbled in acer arcade. However, it does work in acer arcade when you boot into it.

My only problem with this laptop is it seems to stutter alot whe gaming, i have read this is cpu throttling but know little how to fix it

hi everyone.im having problems with my 6935g(with t6400 proccessor).when im playing games like call of duty waw after a few minutes screen is lagging my 50 60 fps decreased to 8 fps.at that lagging time i checked task manager and saw that a process called audiodg.exe's cpu usage was about %30.after all i thought that this process can be related to something about realtek device and i removed the driver.after removing the lagging got better and fps increased from 8 to 15 but it still not enough.what can i do to make things better.I loaded last driver for realtek but everytime i load realtek problem is getting worse so please help me i will be waiting for your suggestions.

It could be the CPU throttle issue which is more likely to occur in summer. It happened to me with Mirror's edge but better since i undervolted my CPU. Theres 4+ topics about it in the acer section most with the 6920g.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=392507
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=393073

Its when your CPU gets to a certain temperature it throttles and runs slower. You can tell if this is your problem using RMclock...theres a guide about it again somewhere in the acer bit.

It only shows v1.10 for me. I doubt it will fix the throttling though.

    Hi,

I've installed the 1.13 BIOS without issue. Everything seems to work fine, but I haven't actually noticed any changes/improvements as I was having no problems before!

    I wonder what it did...

Just updated the bios to v1.13. Haven't noticed any changes yet. Currently looking for any changelogs for the bios update. I remember bios update v1.10 included a changlog for that release. This time it's missing.

Anyways, a bios update is perfectly safe if done properly. I suggest reading the instructions included with the bios update file. Extra advice: Pop the battery back in case there's any interruption to the ac power supply (e.g power outages, ac adapter accidentally comes lose) during the update process. Also remember to close any unnecessary programs/applications and disable any overclock/undervolt or anything that may make your laptop freeze or hang due to instability. Hope it helps.. :)

On a different topic, I'd like to ask if other owners have problems detecting the correct cpu temperature. Currently using an arsenal of temp monitoring programs but none seem to be able to detect cpu temp changes. It only shows the initial cpu temp during startup. Temp monitoring for gpu,hdd and tz's are working normally.

You want to display your screen on the TV via HDMI? You have to go to display settings and check the dropdown box for your TV. It's the computer that needs to recognize the TV, not vice versa.

Hi, I have the same issue. Temps show properly for motherboard sensors but the CPU core temp sensors don't move. I'm *fairly* sure that they did work when I first bought the PC, but stopped working the first time I updated the BIOS (to 1.06)... They still don't work correctly, now on 1.13, but it doesn't seem to affect the PC so I don't worry too much. Would be nice if they fixed it though. Anyone else?

Don't use the power button to switch on the laptop. Press on the "Acer Arcade" button on the cinedash media console instead(button that looks like a stick man). The laptop should boot straight into Acer Arcade without booting windows.

I didn't notice it working in the beginning coz I only began temp monitoring after I upgraded bios to 1.10. It's not a big deal though but I hope Acer would fix this in future bios updates as not being able to monitor temps kinda makes undervolting the CPU less fun(unable to measure correct reduction in temps due to undervolt). I think the closest sensor to the CPU would be TZ00 but I doubt it's as accurate as an on-die temp sensor.

i found out recently that some of the people that own this Acer Aspire model having a throttle problem which reducing your performance by 50% after they detect the "overheat" on your laptop. it seems acer is being overprotected and has set the throttle to be activated when your laptop reach 66-69 degree. it's really annoying when the temperature around that level is normal. some of the solution is updating your bios to v 1.10 and it works for some people but not me is there's any other solution?? much appreciated if anyone willing to share. thanks in advance

    Hi

You can upgrade straight to 1.13. Previous BIOS's were 1.10 and 1.06.

    I'm currently running 1.13 on my 6935G

@FENDI i dont think that the problem is with SP2...since i updaed it recently as well and i have had no such problems...but could be in your case.....i dont knw much about the apps and all since i have been using the laptop for about 2 weeeks now...but i think if nothing works a clean install or a reset to the default factory setup should solve your problem for sure...and ure other questions about 64 bit vista can be answered if u just scroll to the first post of this thread. Darika has put a link to the 64bit drivers and ACER apps up there as well...and as far as i know you cant use your 32 bit key on a 64 bit version (correct me if im wrong). hope tht helps.
@Mark: thanks for the bios heads up....i'll be updating it rite abt nw

I've now installed Windows 7 RTM ultimate 64 Bits on my Acer 6935G.
    Here's my first feedback:

    Installation successful and Genuine

I had to install the following drivers:
    - Latest nVidia Geforce 9M for Windows 7
    - Latest Audio driver from Realtek for Windows 7

    - Card reader (Vista 64bits) for better support
    - Touchpad synaptics (Vista 64bits) for better support

    - I haven't installed Fingerprint utility as I don't use it, but I'm sure the vista driver will work ;)

Empowering Technology is working very well but I had to activate the Windows Vista SP1 compatibility on the Empowering Framework. Don't forget to reboot after all installation of eAudio, ePower and eSettings.

That's all for my first feedback. I will update later the main page once everything is perfect

I'm very happy with my ACER GEMSTONE. ACER got many quality problem in the past, but only the cheap entry models was most concerned by those problems.

I've never seen any problem on High End models. Even entry models of other brands got problems. I had longtime ago an entry Toshiba model and the motherboard died after 1year and 2 months...

Anyway, I didn't get any problem with my Gemstone, it's strongly built, no problem of heat, no blue screen or freeze. Well if you want to go for an ACER, I can assure you that this model is a really good one. I got also 2 year Warranty extension for free by ACER. That was also a good argument for me to buy it.

I do not use it a lot as I have a much powerful desktop, but I use it more when I'm moving, traveling, doing some games, websurfing, some Photoshop, watching HD movies (the speakers and bass are quite good for a notebook). Well it does everything I need.

If youare looking for a good ACER NOTEBOOK, go for it ;)

guys (and girls) ive got two questions for you...since you've had the 6935g for quite sometime you might have already done some research on this (maybe not)...anywys firstly anyone have a sleeve for their laptop?? which sleeve do you recommend for the 6935g. i alrdy have a bag but i want a sleeve for those times when you just want to put the lappy away for a while or carry it a short distance....and secondly did any of you get the model with the media centre remote with it?? i have the DVB tuner but since my machine was a refurb i didnt get any accesories. so im in the market for a suitable media centre remote control, know any that would be compatible with the 6935g??

I want to tell a story about my 6935g few weeks ago, where I have few series of argument with my wife, long story short, she get mad with me and start to poke my 6935g screen & keyboard area very hard because I ignoring her, things getting bad when I had to throw my laptop on the floor (about 3 meters away from the table where I use the laptop), and when I pick it up, power is off, saw mark on the left side of laptop, edge next to express card slot. my cooling fan are completely bent... on the laptop, everything ok except I dont get any sound out of it, send to acer center and few days later they return me back the laptop and it's work like new! and there are no charge as it's under warranty So, to answer Stanley123 question, I would say this thing is strong! and Acer customer services in my town are awesome!

I'm sure you can gain some more battery life with Windows. You may increase your battery life about 10-15%.

    Always the GIRLFRIEND :p
I'm not sure the warranty will cover it but you can give it a try. Replacing the keyboard will be easier and it's not expensive. In Thailand, the keyboard replacement is about 1070Bahts (30 USD). If you try by yourself you may make more damage. I think 30 Dollars is not so expensive to avoid more damage and get a brand new keyboard.

but have you ever tried to open your notebooks to clean the cooper (from the cooler)?

these days I tried to open... however looks like that I have to unscrew all the notebook just to clean it.

I've been able to make a new test of Battery Life by playing Video under Windows 7. To play the videos, I've used Media Player Homecinema.

    Movies played :
    - Fast and Furious 2009 (1080P)
    - Blood the Last Vampire 2009 (720P)

I've been able to watch these movies without to play the end credits for about 3h10mn.

So if you look back at the Windows Vista video test, Windows 7 offers 30mn more of video playback.

    Hi everyone!

I've had this laptop for several months now. I got it for two reasons, first, its a great great hackintosh (SL titanium solid, almost Macbook Pro clone, far better than any Windows!), and M$ gaming, which is brilliant as e-sata is just as fast internal drive.

I've been eagerly waiting for Battlefield 1943 to be released, and bought GTA IV which after two months of tweaking I finally got it to work for hours on end, without hick-ups, frame drops, overclocks, etc, all medium to high settings, around 28fps "steady", even in high explosion settings, etc. I have the GDDR3 version, 6935g 864g32mn to be precise. In the end, I found the problem was two thing, one was CPU temperature, second is GTA which is very badly ported. Once its fixed, its great, until then its a headache. I cannot confirm this, but I really think disabling pagefile completely solved the issue, but I went a "99 permomance tweaks for Vista" guide I found. All very similar to XP normal tweaking, but Nvidia Control Panel tricks and pagefile did the trick.

One of the issues I later discovered, was that CPU throtteling made the game stutter like crazy. When around 66-68 (never went over that) the game dropped to 12fps. This is easily fixed with a good cooling pad. No need for hi-end stuff, a good regular one drops 8-12 degrees and that is more than enough.

Anyways, I've found out that VMX technology is locked in BIOS by Acer... WHY ?!?! Service help is NOT helping me. They just dont answer. Anyone know, or please check, if version 1.13 of BIOS wakes this feature up please?

Where can we find info on this BIOS update?

Anyways, just have to say, darika, you're cute as a button (sorry, couldn't resist, I know this is tacky...) and thank you very much for your thread! It certainly helped me decide on this laptop early this year.

And a big "hats off" to Acer, made a fantastic laptop, I used to hate and speak really really badly of Acer. I am ultra picky when I spend cash, and now I have one.

    Very very recommended!

ACER BIOS 1.13, BETTER GRAPHIC SUPPORT?

I've updated the BIOS wich was 1.10 to the new bios 1.13.
Since the update, the Windows 7 Score for the Graphics rating has a little bit increased from 6.3 to 6.4. This is the only thing I've noticed from now.

I will let you know if there's any other improvement.

The main page of my REVIEW has been updated.
