window 7 only took about 1 hour for clean install, but the driver issue that is not well handle by acer cost me a full 2 days of searching and troubleshooting and still, things does work up right!Vanquisher007,my empowering technology works fine now,thx alot!just that the erecovery and eaudio i don't have it!because i notice that the launch manager is the same version with the 1 i install previously!and now i'm just too afraid to try out anything!i'll just wait until the day acer got things right!because i need my pc to work for my work!can't believe acer did this to us!F***

alright guy's,i finally get my cine dash, fingerprints ,webcam and the rest to work by using all vista driver!so i guess that acer don't really well prepare the window 7 driver for us to use yet!and about my internal subwoofer option,i install the version that darika provide here and then update it with the latest version from dritek websites, and it works fine and the subwoofer option is still there!and about the blu-ray playback, i just use powerdvd 9, it was easier and better compare to acer arcade deluxe!

    Hola.
Noticed that this thread has died out a bit but what the hell.

    I just upgraded my 6935g from win 7 32bit to win 7 64bit.
Can someone please tell me exactly what drivers to install as tried it before andcompletly failed. What versions of windows and bit etc?

Specifically the cinedash media pad (volume control etc) and auido drivers (previously crackeling through the speakers, or subw)

    Any help would be awesome

    Cheers
    Jonny

yea...this forum seems to be dead for awhile now!anyway since i'm also a win7 64 bit user...i have all sort of problems with the drivers...so what i can advise u is that install every single driver u need with the vista version for this computer!because acer don't really do a great job in the win7 drivers!and about the speaker problem...cracking and etc, what i did is that i download the driver darika provided in the front page of this forum!install that driver then go to dritek website to download the latest version to install again!then your subwoofer option will still be there and there is no more cracking sound for me!that's all i did...but in my acer empowering technology, i lost Erecovery and Esound i guess!can't manage to get it to install!and 1 more thing is the u can't watch blu-rays anymore because there is no acer arcade duluxe!and i can't find it anywhere also!so i just use replace it with Power DVD 9 to watch it!the quality is much better compare to acer arcade!so i hope i can explain to u enough!and about the cine-dash...i work fine for me after i install it with the vista drivers!and guys...can anyone tell me where to download nvidia previous driver for this laptop ?i want to remove this version 195!help pls...alive this post!

Do you know how many cell has your battery?
You can also download the free version of Battery Bar, it will show your battery wear. If your batter wear is too important, you may buy a new one.

To download Battery Bar : http://osirisdevelopment.com/

It works very well on Windows 7 :)

i think your problem is the cpu over heating... when the cpu reaches 53-55°C it's slows down (like my P8400 2,26GHz to 800MHz) to keep the notebook cooler... buy a notebook cooler pad and it's solves the problem

    Hi,

I've arrived her after some time searching the web for some help. First things first here are my specs:

    P8400 @ 2.26GHz
    4GB DDR3
    9600M GT 512mb DDR3
    320GB HDD
    Blu Ray

Ok so I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. Basically I think I have a problem with my GPU. In idle state its temp is ~60c, whilst my cpu cores are low (21-23c). However, as soon as I run anything which utilises the graphics card, whether it's gaming or just a physx demo, the temperature sky rockets to 105c within a couple of minutes and causes the automatic shutdown. I've had this problem since I bought my laptop and it's getting ridiculous now. Has anyone experienced the same? Does anyone know of a decent solution? (A cooling pad will make no difference).

Or should I just ring Acer and send it off for repair? This is the last resort because I need my laptop every day for uni work, but if it's the only way to get it fixed then it'd be worth it I guess.

Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

I have the same configuration and after 8 hours up time my cpu only 40°C and the cores 22-22°C an the GPU is 51°C so i think first of all check your fan if it has dust clean it or just call the acer to fix it.

Anyone tried to new R2.42 Realtek HD Audio Drivers? I had some problems. When I changed the bitrate to 24bits 96 Khz or 192 Khz the BSOD appeared, caused by the rtkhda(ud).sys. Returned to R2.41.

Same problem with the R2.43 HD audio drivers. I seems that resampling above 24bit/48khz causes BSOD. I'll keep the 24bit/48khz rate to see if there are problems with this one.

Hi lordkag, thanks for the brightness tip, very helpful.

Just an FYI for people - if your 6935G's been experiencing blue screen crashes under Windows 7 64-bit, the new Intel Wifi Link 5100 driver (version 13.1.1.1) seems to fix it for me! :) Previously you had to disable 802.11n to fix it - very annoying!

Also, as previously reported by mark0409mr01, if you want to enable Intel VT-X virtualization features on the 6935G, this worked for me: http://marcansoft.com/blog/2009/06/enabling-intel-vt-on-the-aspire-8930g/ (but be careful - only suitable for tech savvy users!)

Thanks RedRecividist! I have enabled Intel VT-X virtualization with the Tjeutje hints. Now Securable says Virtualization "Locked On". Any other advices to unlock those hidden options in the Bios?

    Hello,

    i have an Aspire 6935G ...

Windows Experience Index measures the capability of your computer's hardware and software configuration and expresses this measurement as a number called a base score.

Basically i had a very hi score before i windows7 as i used Tune-Up Utilities2009 and now my rating is at 5.9 as Tune-UP is not compatible with W7 could any 1 be kind enough to let me knw how to get this no up.

    cheers,
    DJ

As I recall, unless you have an SSD, or hack your score, the best score you'll get for any mechanical HDD in WEI is 5.9. Even Velociraptors at their 10000 RPM only get 5.9 in WEI.

New BIOS (1.19) *and* new Launch Manager (for Win 7 64-bit, at least) available at Acer Support! :)

I've not tried either yet as I'm not at home.

Yeah I just noticed the new bios. I hope it fixes the brightness problems from the Nvidia drivers. I don't want to try it yet because the last update screwed my battery and it now only lasts 1 Hour instead of 3 on power-saver. and 45 minutes instead of two hours on high performance.

Anybody prepared to take the bullet and try the bios and the latest nvidia drivers.

The new Launch Manager seems to work just fine. No problem like the one before. The BIOS i haven't yet tested. I'll wait this time because I think I have messed enough with the BIOS. I suppose the virtualization will be again hidden and locked off with this one. So again dumping the BIOS.
I don't think the brightness problem is caused by the BIOS. The old drivers worked just fine. The new ones only requires Fn+F6+arrow for changing the brightness. I have noticed a 6% battery wear since the using of the new drivers, but it's possible to be the normal wearing.

Flash from inside W7 Ultimate x64.
Tried to bite the bullet, but got a message that there is no BIOS file in the directory. Duh?
There is a .119 file that needs to renamed to .fd extension then it works.
    No problems found.
W7 Experience Index scores for Processor and Memory up from 6.1 to 6.2

New Launchmanager works perfect under W7 x64.

BIOS: Intel VT-X extensions are still disabled - I wonder what's changed. For me, there was no change in the WEI scores, they were already at 6.2...

Launch Manager: The fact that the Launch Manager icon has gone back to the old one and a quick check of the dates/times on most of the files makes me think that this version is actually barely changed from the old Vista version that worked on W7. Still, that's no big deal, as it works fine... :)

Great, ill try both when i get home from work.

Heres small application that i made for configuring CineDash buttons. You can set programs to run when pressing Arcade, Internet, Web and Empowering buttons, and also enable media keys to work with other programs like winamp. It may be helpfull, so check it out.

Just installed Bios 1.19 and re-enable VT-x using the Marcan blog instructions, memory score has gone up slightly and the 6935G feels slightly "snappier" :)

Confirmed VT-x enable with SecureABLE and the MS Hardware-vt-x compatability utility, both confirmed YES :)

Like someone posted earlier it would be bloomin useful if ACER published a changelog GAH!

Thanks to all the chaps and ladies involved in this thread, it's a great resource for us!

    Thanks RedRecividist :)

I thought I still have 6 weeks full warranty left so if I brick it I'll get my money back (we get 12 months warranty in the UK under the Sale of Goods Act).

This thread has been SO useful I thought I'd take one for the team of us Acer 6935G owners and report back, happy to be of help.

The VT-x enable was fairly straight forward
    - I downloaded the vtenable.py script for Marcansoft's blog pages (Google it!), installed Python 2.6
    - I followed the instruction set by Gabriel (around Aug 9th 2009) and Tjeute (Aug 11th 2009) in the above blog.
    - Then I crossed my finger and hoped for the best when it rebooted lol!

    All the best :)

I've installed the latest version of Launch Manager (for 64 bit Windows 7) v3.0.02.

As far as I can see, it works fine apart from the Acer Arcade Deluxe button no longer works. When I press it, the Cinedash lights up but nothing appears on screen. Anyone else have this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I've just reinstalled the Vista Launch Manger in compatibility mode and now that doesn't open Arcade Deluxe either!! Instead it opens Windows Media Player. What is going on??

EDIT2: I've fixed it. I uninstalled Launch Manager altogether. I had a feeling that having Windows Media Center turned off might have had something to do with it so I turned it back on. Lo and behold, I reinstalled the latest Win 7 Launch Manager and the Arcade Deluxe button works again!
I turned off Media Center again after installing Launch Manager and the Arcade button still works.

    Hi again,

Since moving to BIOS V1.19, I've been experiencing the throttling problems commonly reported elsewhere for the 6935g... I've never had these problems before...

Does anyone else see the same problems since moving to V1.19? (frame rate in games suddenly halves after the PC has been working hard for a while... More info here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=403988)

Hi - I have a 6935G running 32 bit XP. I have read all 447 (!!) posts in this thread but found no answer to my question - has anyone managed to get the TV tuner working under this OS? I have found drivers for most things but cannot get the TV tuner to work. I love the PC but would like to receive TV if poss. Thanks!

    @steve jones
The drivers you've installed are working (no incompatibility)? What version do you have? Do you have the antenna that should come with the laptop? And, the most important, do you have DVB-T in your area? Because only this type of transmission you will receive with the built-in tuner.
