im assuming you installed the launch manager?
i find the win7 one is useless so i install the 2.0.0.2 version listed under vista ultimate in vista sp1 compatibility mode works a treat.

yes, I have the same version of launch manager. But its not working.

Darika, in her post had told me to install the vista version of ITECIR driver under the human interface devices in device manager. But somehow I am not able to downgrade the driver to vista version because everytime I do that, it automatically gets upgraded. I guess it is a combination of all these issues that makes the cine dash work properly.

What version is your ITECIR driver? mine is 5.1.0.1

same version. but that's got nothing to do with the cinedash, that's just the infra-red transceiver

have you installed the empowering technologies framework?

also i set the compatibility of the launch manager.exe to vista sp1

empowering technologies framework is something which is required to install other applications like eaudio management, epower management, edata security management, esettings management. I have obviously installed it.

I have also installed the launch manager and set compatibility to vista sp2. Also tried removing the battery and disconnecting the power.

then im at a loss you have done exactly the same as i have, except i set them to sp1 compatibility.

also a lot of people dont reinstall all the empowering technologies stuff.
personally i dont. i only install the epower.

i have just tried mine again and all i have to do is.
Set the setup to vista sp1 and once installed set the launchmanager.exe to vista sp1 and reboot.

    hi. great review.
I have the acer 6035g laptop and upgraded it to win 7 almost immediately. Having a few issues though,

    1. The crackeling noise through speakers sometimes
    2. No subwoofer effect
    3. Volume not as loud as it used to be, and also not as good quality
    4. Fingerprint reader not working

Has anyone got definitive answers on how to solve these problems, any help would be amazing.

    Thanks in advance

Have everyone tried to connect eSATA hard drive? Mine doesn't work, nothing happens after pluging in. It is not a drive problem, it works on my desktop. I have Win 7 32 bit and BIOS v1.10

    My battery problem:

Few days ago i updated the new v.1.14 bios. But this bios version is absolutely wrong (wrong cinedash, fingerp. reader...etc..) I call the center support ('coz i have warranty ) and they told, install back VISTA, 'coz now i run W7 (they crazy..). So i install VISTA to a new HDD for testing, but nothing changed. So i downgraded to v.1.13 and everything ok.

But till i do this steps, on the taskbar i got message about battery:
    Fully charged (100%)
Consider replacing your battery" "There is a problem with your battery, so your computer might shut down suddenly".

Only a 10 minutes works with battery. And 10-20 minute enough to fully charged.

    What do you suggest?

talk to the tech support, if possible take it to the repair centre and let them see the problem for themselves so that they can try replacing the battery and see if it is working fine.

    good luck

    Hi,

BIOS 1.14 has now been removed from Acer's support site, which I guess proves that it is totally broken. If you're running 1.14, you're probably best to go back to 1.13!

Another issue - since installing the latest WHQL Win7 64-bit NVIDIA 9600M GT drivers (version 195.62), I've been unable to change my screen brightness. The previous drivers did not have this problem. I've found other people reporting similar problems on other forums. If you have this problem, you can report it here and hopefully they will fix it in the next version.

    :)

    For problems 1 to 3:
First install the latest Vista driver from Acer's support website. Acer seems to have customized Realtek drivers that enable subwoofer correctly.
You'll notice that in Control Panel the Acer HD Audio Manager will appear.
After installation you can install Realtek W7 driver (preferably v2.35 because newer version have issues).
Note: You have to run the setup of the W7 driver twice: first run will "deinstall" the current sound drivers. After restart, run the second time and the driver will be updated. The Acer HD Audio Manager will remain on your system.
Difference in sound quality should be obvious

    Problem 4:
Install the driver from the Acer support site. This will install the correct driver and also the Acer Bioprotection software. After installation and restart (!), the Acer Bioprotection software may be removed via Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, if not needed. The fingerprint reader will remain functional.

I've tested the latest WHQL display driver from nVidia 195.62. There's compatibility issue as you can't adjust the brightness of the screen anymore from the Acer ePower Management and with the keyboard with the keys Fn+arrow.

It is better to keep using the 186.81 driver from nVidia as there isn't compatibility issue.

I am also not able to use the Fn & -/+ keys which are used to increase/decrease the volume. As my numerous attempts to set the cine dash panel rigt failed, I thought to use the the keys to increase/decrease the volume on the fly but looks like even that is not working although the Fn+ arrow keys work to set brightness. Any suggestions on this? For now, I can only use the volume icon in the system tray to control my volume.

To all who has win 7 - check if every device has the driver properly installed. In my acer there is one unknown device I can't find driver for. Windows update can't find anything and I've tried every possible driver on acer support site. Perhaps that's why e-sata doesn't work for me.

I checked the device manager straight after installing W7 x64 on my 6935G and there were only 2 unknown devices showing. One turned out to be the fingerprint reader and the other was the ITECIR Infrared receiver.

LOL, it really IS infrared :) But where can I find it? The only thing I could think of is the spot on the left of card reader, but turns out it isn't...

And did somebody checked that unfortunate e-sata? Now that I have all devices installed, I can't find any reason why it doesn't work...

E-sata is located on the left verge, between HDMI and Ethernet - it's a USB/E-sata hybrid. About IR - I was surprised myself. As I wrote, I installed the driver nicely and still I don't know where is it. My first thought was about TV card IR, but of course I don't have TV card... Only richer models have.

You were correct. The IR receiver is the bit to the left of the card reader. Its purpose is to receive a signal from a remote control.

The once cracklling sound coming from my speakers is rectified now. I am guessing it is because of two reasons:

    1. As you use the speakers it gets the perfect sound quality.

    2. I suppose the vista drivers will do the trick.

The V1.14 has been pulled because it stopped the Cinedash from working and also it may have damaged battery's. I think its damaged my battery and slashed the capacity in half.

I still can't update the realtek drivers. There is a file in the acer drivers that make the realtek drivers sub-woofer work. Which file that is I don't know but I'll find it.

The two missing device drivers with no name is the infra-red and the HD Audio Modem by foxconn. I couldn't get the drivers to install at all for the HD audio. I could only get the driver to install when installing vista and the automated installer installed all the drivers it self.

The 195 drivers from nvidia stop the backlight working in the LCD panel. They will only change if you change the backlight and reboot the machine. On some occasions you need to reboot twice. That goes for all the 195 drivers including the brand new beta.

I turn the backlight off when running on the battery and now the battery may be damaged I need all the power I can get. So this is the problem for me.

this is my Acer Aspire 6935G and i have all drivers succesfully installed in Windows 7 Professional x64
i contact with foxconn for the hda modem and they sent for me via email
the infra red is only a receiver because the tv tuner version notebooks has a tv controller and it's use this infrared port.
    the x64 foxconn driver for x64 xp,vista and 7:

i have a bug with brightness of the screen... a can't change it... jus when im'm set the brightness and turn off/on the with Fn+F6...

and anyone know why deleted the acer the 1.14 bios update?
    kris120890 posted this:
somebody can confirm that? my CineDash work perfectly but, 2 weeks ago i should call the acer service because my original 6 cell sony battery died (10 minute life time in performance mode...) and they exchanged it for a brand new 8 cell sanyo and also exchanged the ac adaptor 65W to a 90W...
so i don't want to kill my brand new battery with wrong bios if it's true what kris120890 said.

I have been running Win 7 Pro 32-Bit for around 3 months now, dispite a couple of problems during the installation and no end of driver hell, Win 7 has worked flawlessly. When I first installed Win 7 I had to do a custom install as it would not allow me to do the upgrade through Vista  Anyway it installed fine right up to the end and it kept coming up with a couple of red X chkdsk.exe errors and after a few "ok" clicking on the error the installation finally finished and then I had the trouble of getting all the drivers to work properly, eventually I evne got the correct Launch Manager version to work and it worked all fine upto last week. I upgraded to the latest 195 NVidia driver only to be met with the brightness bug as explained on here and so ended up downgrading back to 186.81.

Then after getting the graphics drivers fixed again the Launch Manager started really playing up, volume controls on the cinedash wouldn't work and I attempted to re-install the Launch Manager so many times and it still would not work properly (with Vista compatibility & run as admin enabled) and so in the end being fed up with all these driver problems I decided to just do a full system recovery back to Vista (I know but I felt like I ran out of options, and also I never ran into any problems with Vista while running it before) and now I am back to a fully clean factory Vista setup for now. I'm not sure weather it is because it is still early days in Windows 7 and Acer or what and the lack of 7 drivers as all the drivers while on Windows 7 were on Vista compatibility? Maybe when I try again in a couple of months or so when drivers are more updated I might try out the x64 bit version of Win 7 instead.

The correct audio device was always set from the beginning, anyway it is not related to the Windows audio options it is purely to do with the Launch Manager program & the compatibility with Windows 7.

The Launch Manager (Dritek) controls only the empowering, wifi, bluetooth, www and email buttons the synaptics touchpad driver controls the CineDash. Under my windows 7 professional x64 everything works fine.

The Synaptics driver & program only controls the Mouse Touchpad and Mouse buttons, not the Cinedash. The Cinedash is controled by the Launch Manager.

well i bought my notebook with a preinstalled acer oem vista x86 sp1...
and in Windows 7 x64 i use this driver for dritek launch manager
    http://www.4shared.com/file/181267024/dc086edb/Dritek_Launch_Manager.html
this driver came with the oem vista...
and i think it's works fine. and the new foobar 1.0 supports very well the cinedash not just when foobar is the active window it's works when foobar is in the notification tray.

I hav this same problem with cinedash with my windows 7 but I could not bother going back to vista just coz of cine dash not working fine so I use the volume icon in the taskbar to control the volume. But I also see that volume can be controlled by pressing the Fn and the -/+ key in blue. But it wont work on my system, not sure why but does it work for you?

    Hi guys, just a question about 6935G, (I know, its a perfect machine);

Is there a way to turn off the backlight at night when you leave your computer on when you sleep? I think its time to actually find a solution instead of just placing a shirt ontop so the light cant be seen. :p

    Thankyou!

Yo man! if you want to turn off te LED of the cine dash or the mesia control, just ctivate the HOLD button. Atleast it will reduce some unwanted light.

On the other hand, if you want to turn off the monitor then pres Fn+F6. That will do the trick. Hope that helps.

To me, it doesnt bother, but since light from around power cable is the brightest, you could try rotating your laptop so it hits the wall or something :)

Use the vista version of the application for the empowering technologies. I mean not using windows 7 and running it is compatibility mode but the actual vista applications. You will get them on the acer website. I have windows 7 x32 and have got so far eaudio, epower, edata security and esettings. But I think there is another application i guess it is erecovery.

Regarding Acer Arcade, I too didint find that anywhere. Those applicatins had come preinstalled on vista. I am not sure if the windows 7 version of them is out or not.

Do let me know how it goes for you. I faced the same problem as you did.

Finaly, I wanted to ask you something, is your cine dash working properly on windows 7?

Follow the on screen steps to browse to the model Acer 6935. There is also Acer 6935g. I used the former model and then you will get option to select the operating system of your computer and for each OS there are drivers, applications, BIOS, etc listed. I have installed windows vista home premium x32 application for the empowering technologies.

I dont have acer arcade yet and have never played blu ray movies either on disk or downloadd blu-ray format but from my opinion, it is the optical drive that ought to be blu-ray enabled to play any blu ray movies.
