Reading through the thread I have seen at least a dozen questions.
With 1 answer- I will keep you updated when drivers are done they will be released.
Anyways I appreciate your damage control and representation of OCZ. Thanks for everything.

go to game.amd.com, look under drivers, you will see the mobility Radeon XP mobility 8.12's are now listed...I am sure when ATI get back the driver they submitted to M$ for qualification they will release the vista version also.
I would post a link but i don't have 15 posts yet,
Regards modded INF's etc, remember desktop drivers may not support some features available with mobility drivers such as resolution and power saving.
Ryder i hear has told you we have an inbound date of next week for the Vista driver...till then please respect we have to wait for ATI to write the driver, have is qualified and then release it before we can request it.
Im not getting involved with any argument about 8.11 or 8.10 etc i think you guys are more interested in 8,12 because of Stream so this is where I will focus.
OCZ don't write drivers...ATI do and we look to be waiting on them.
Also I just spent 30 mins searching to see if anyone has an official 8,12 Mobility Radeon Vista driver and I could not find one,all i found was XP.
If you can link to an official Vista 32 and 64 Mobility 8.12 Radeon driver please do -
I consider mine "Official" - or so I have dubbed them.. well, am now dubbing them "Official"
-
So does anyone else want to tell me that this thread in this format isn't going to get results?
Now E-Wrecked, don't tell them a modified desktop driver you did is a mobility driver. It is not. This is an OCZ rep looking to deliver what we want.
ATi needs to be contacted directly. They have had the mobility XP drivers for a while, don't think they will release a Vista driver just because we want it. Tony, you need to contact ATi directly and have them create a 64 bit Vista driver. This is ATI's first decent mobile card in a while let them know that this is in their best interest too.
A great notebook without drivers is nothing more than fodder for nvidia fanboys. The 8.11 drivers in an overclocked system deliver about 60% of the fps in Far Cry 2 that the 8.12 modded ones do. They are where you should focus your attention definitely. -
hey hey hey..another ocz rep.
welcome to this side of the world! -
One more for the lynching mob
, Tony have fun...
While I do respect your post of estimating having it ready next week, how feasible do you think that will be? Because I know ETA's can get pushed back. What is your actual ETC? When do you really believe that ATI will have them ready and you will be able to provide them. -
yeah, we gotta slow down on the lynchings...considering your words we're heard and they decided to come over and share a few words with us. we still have to wait. and it's been many times i was like gunner..to hell with all that, give me what i want now!.
as of right this moment, the all out efforts of the few here in the nbr/k|n/rk/dark smiley and of course the serious users of these model have helped to at least make the drivers bare able. so lets give them the week. there is always plenty of time to talk crazy and make more enemies, but harder to to find friends and allies if you run them all off.
-
Ok..fine RunningGunner -
OCZ REP: GIVE US THE DRIVERS NOW! OR ELSE! BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!
Now, hopefully that accomplishes something.
EDIT: Please ignore the previous demands.. as, I agree with john that we can wait a week. But, come next Saturday..if not delivered.. BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU -
E-Wrecked, I wasn't dogging you, just saying while we have their attention, let's make sure we do what we can to get them what they need. Sounds like they need to be brought up to speed on some of the technical stuff.
-
John I hear you, I'm not lynching anyone (it was just my smart A** remark ).. It was them savages on the other side of the force
. Just kidding guys I know you were peeved off and venting.
Since we have 2 reps here lets give them the help they need which is our input (in a non aggressive way)and les wait for their output which we can hope its a prompt reply. ( if they keep constantly updating us with their ETAs or ETC's for divers and other things, we should be fine as long as they keep their deadlines.
"EDIT - though it looked like they were lynching the previous rep, I think I saw Gunner chewing off his leg(J/K gunner we love ya)" -
I agree RG; Obviously they're listening..or at the least they've heard the requests. Now, we shall let them be requests..and if in the near future, they do not deliver upon their word then these requests can become demands. For the time being, there's nothing else to be done. Ryder, tony, thank you for stopping by. We'll look forward to your visit in the near future to inform us that you have a resolution. And if not, THEN BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU. And, I'm sure we all love good things to come our way during the Holidays
-
I can hear E-Wrecked starting off his chainsaw... watch it hes like Santa, he knows where you live, when you're sleepin and when you're awake and baked.
Edit. Weird, this was post 111 on the thread and my post 111.. as a side note, and I'm only a level 1 greenbox T_T BTW thak you fr bestowing upon me the Green box E. -- Just broke it with my post further to below. -
im knowing ya having a bit of fun. -
lol..creepy numbers! numbers are scary..
-
yeah triple 1 is weird.. much rather have 151... heheh
Its Friday night.. none of you guys goin out or what?
Also in reply to John a bit of fun and a bit of beer. -
Guys im VERY thick skinned, been posting on forums now for many years.
Seems the XP driver i linked does not support the newer cards so we are all back to waiting.
Im going to remind you all what i said earlier...just so you get what i am saying.
Ryder has been told we should have drivers inbound next week. We don't write the driver...ATI do
This means we have already asked for the driver...
Any one who thinks OCZ are slacking on support over this driver please link me to an 8.12 Vista 64 driver that supports 3XXX cards...I will then have the bullets to fire at the office if it is publicly available.
If you can NOT find one sit back...have a few beers and wait for the official mobility release...
Now i just have to pray they get it done for next week ...LOL -
i have to say guys come on do you see anyone from sager posting here? how about dell? toshiba? WE HAVE 2 OCZ reps here from the actual company NOT EVEN RESELLERS.. they are from ocz. i have to say imo this says more about them than anything that they were willing to step up and actually take their lumps by posting here. and even after all the badgering they are keeping cool and are still posting. i totally respect them for taking the effort to help us at all. thanks guys ill be for sure looking to ocz for my upcoming system
-
prayer is a must. make it heavy, make it sincere, and make it happen.
z, agreed.. it says a lot. -
If you fix the driver issiues next week I'll buy another OCZ DIY notebook, if not I'll buy a sager instead.
-
Ryder has asked...the Laptop guru's as OCZ have asked....its now not upto OCZ to deliver first
I should imagine ATI know the FPS on these drivers is what you are looking for, by there being a delay i think they found a few issues porting from desktop maybe... -
-
-
I'm just being sarcastic..
-
btw nice to see you here tony welcome.. forgot to add that
-
-
I'm going to have to jump in here and agree with Tony. ATI are the ones who need to write the driver, and they're the ones we should be on about mobility driver support. Doesn't anyone else think it's crap that if I have a desktop I can go to the ATI or nVidia site every time there is an upgrade and get a new driver? Everytime there is a new game released, there's usually a beta available and ready for download that takes care of the biggest issues concerning gameplay. Why is it that notebook users aren't being treated the same? If I remember correctly, this is a fast growing market segment, and the video card manufacturers need to adapt and step up support in this area. Yes, I know why they haven't until now. I know that at this moment both ATI and nVidia typically don't do anything other than supply the chips for a mobility card, and someone else does the work, but this happens with desktop cards too, they still dont have the long wait to get new drivers. I think the video card manufacturers just don't set mobility as a priority, that is what needs to change. So, let's lynch ATI now!(j/k)
-
up untill recently...their we're no "real" mobile ati issues, because their we're no real gaming version of their mobile card. the 128 they put in the hp nc8230 ran perfectly fine on the factory drivers and still does. they probably thought it would be the same. errrrrrrrrr, wrong. so now we have multiple driver fixes from different sources including ati. when you guys first got it, wasn't version 8.5 or something...or 6. something? and now they are rapidly approaching 8.12. and once it's out...what will happen? we will take their oem driver and attempt to make it better! right or wrong? because in our minds..we need to put that extra busy body, no it all, i think i have a better idea, i heard, i tried this and it worked better, oops...look what i found...touch. (LOL) we just need to have a little faith this time. people are now talking. not like before...falling on deaf ears. maybe if you point them to some of those benchmarks...they might want to forward them to right people to help with understanding why we want the mobile drivers. (just a suggestion and not a what you should do)
-
- Now that we're all done with the "feel good OCZ rep posting." YOU ARE SLACKING ON SUPPORT! We aren't talking about just this driver, you have released NOTHING since the inception of this notebook except BIOS's to bring the system to a level it should have been at when it was released. This isn't about one video driver.
- You had ALL the quad core data from K|N months ago and had to be FORCED by INTEL (Special thanks to mHooper) to get the BIOS fixed to an acceptable level for the chips you have been saying were fully supported in this system!
- There are still issues that need to be addressed and you know what those are. If not, K|N has been telling OCZ not only the problems, but the fixes for months... ask them.
THERE WILL NOT BE AN OFFICIAL VISTA 64 BIT RELEASE OF A MOBILITY 8.12 FROM ATI UNLESS YOU GET IN TOUCH WITH ATI AND TELL THEM TO MAKE IT PERIOD. That is what we need you to do, and actually do it. They need to recognize and code in for THIS 3870 crossfire and future mobile cards also, not stuff from 2 and 3 years ago. The stories of "planned releases" and what you and Hypersonic "are currently working on for release 1, 2 or a million weeks from now" is a shell game.
You found your way here with a little help from a friend to contain this... I think it's pretty obvious that the good will has officially run out so you should listen when you hear that " something like this might happen if the ongoing issues continue to be ignored." Sound advice from a good friend. -
Running gunner- I still think the original problem is with ATI. I don't wait for a desktop driver from any of the manufacturers, I get it straight from ATI. Why should it be any different for us? Then there's no middleman and theres no waiting. It may require a shift to more standardized mobile cards, but I'm fine with that, because the only way we're going to get mobility drivers as fast as the desktop owners is through ATI directly.
However, the only thing that is going to fix this for us right now is OCZ, and you need to do 2 things for us. Get us new drivers now, and pressure ATI to stop hiding from this issue and release the mobility drivers in as timely a fashion as the desktop ones. It doesn't make sense that ATI is dragging their feet on this. They release a card that's less than half the price of the competing nVidia card, and rather than show up nVidia, they don't have proper driver support. ATI has repeatedly had bad driver support in the past, and while maybe their desktop driver issues are solved, they're mobility drivers are as slow as anything they've ever done. Some good focus in this area and they could dominate the notebook section, which would certainly help OCZ as well (who else is using ATI mobility cards at the moment?). You guys need to get it together!
I hope that makes some sense to you guys out there. Bad driver support from ATI was my only concern in buying this computer, it's unfortunate that it is a real concern. Expecially with the coming of the 48xx series cards, these things are really going to rock, if only we have drivers that work. -
Agreed. Not much else I can add to that. -
Read my post again...i reminded most here twice what is transpiring.
When the driver is done it will be done...nothing I can say or do above what has been said will change that. i strongly suggest if you feel this strongly please get yourself over to the AMD game forum and ask for the driver...OCZ have already officially asked for it but any help from you asking on the AMD forum would certainly help.
By the way do you work or are affiliated to KN?
lastly I was helping some SSD users on this very forum before Ryder even new about this place..check when i became a member -
-
... Lets sure hope these Reps will keep on updating us during the week and not just leave us without info until next Saturday.
-
Hi OCZ reps,
Any chance you guys have an update on the ETA of the drivers? Are they still on for this week? -
OCZ reps? Hello?
-
I think they need to see some noise in order to come in and reply.. we gonna have to let gunner loose on them.
-
Nobody has to yell, but I can't give you a daily update everyday this week.
Tony nor I are in the office in California, we are going on info given to us by the office.
When the driver is finished, I will run right over here and tell you guys.
-
FYI that whole "When the driver is finished(note the open time frame), I will run right over here and tell you guys" bit is not very reassuring. Would have sounded a lot better "This weekend Ill be so happy you guys will have your drivers." or "This Friday I'll come running to tell you the drivers are done." something along these lines.
Choose the words more careful Rep. They can be misinterpreted, you can avoid many problems and angry ppl.
Get em Gunner.. J/K
Edit - Also you could call the office for an update I'm sure they would be glad to let you know if its unchanged or not. Not being physically there doesn't mean you cant get an ETA update. Trust me I ship things all over the world and all I have to do is call people to see if the Vessel's ETA still unchanged. Usually get a reply on the same day and its very easy to do. No asking to do some Rocket science formula. Just use common sense before saying "you're not in the office therefore you cant do this n that", We're not asking you to physically go into the office to get a cup and bring it to us. There are many things you can do while out of the office and getting info is one of them. There are multiple ways of communicating thnx to technology. So please, I kindly ask you to stop feeding us the "We're not in the office" stuff and get working on getting us some answers. -
If you are / were not in the local branch of OCZ then maybe you shouldn't be giving timetables on the release of these drivers. I am assuming from what the OCZ reps have said, that this is where these drivers will be originating from.
It gives the outward appearance that OCZ is again trying to move the shells around in the game. Now, judging by your post, it won't be tomorrow but instead "when the driver is finished..." yada, yada, yada.
Ironic that BOTH reps have the same comment, "There is no need to yell..." Really? I thought we established with proof that sans yelling you ignore your responsibilities. Please refrain from talking down to the end users that YOU SOLD YOUR PRODUCT TO AND ABANDONED!
I own a Killer Notebooks Nagamaki. The support is incredible, but what is not incredible is that a small boutique shop can out support a multi-billion dollar company. I want some results because I want the other cool stuff Killer Notebooks offers (like my carbon fiber hardplate on the palmrest) that they can't get to because they are doing YOUR job! -
OCZ Reps I asked for kindly the previous time, I wont do that again. Pls give us an ETA update. Otherwise I'm gonna let loose on Patronizing a product and giving you an extensive drag around this forums. PLS GIVE US AN UPDATE.
-
OCZ is committed to support for this platform and has always released updates when they become available, and this includes pushing for the latest drivers. OCZ does not write the drivers for mobility Radeon 3870, these will be released as soon as they are completed and validated by ATI and we are pushing for continual updates. OCZ supports all of our SI customers many of which add value to the solution with their own unique brand. Support for any of these solutions needs to go through the branded/boutique notebook brand where the product was purchased. We work directly with our partners to support their platforms but front line service and support for products that have been customized is taken care of by these brands.
OCZ does offer DIY notebooks under the OCZ brand and our team can assist with support with these products. If you need support for your OCZ DIY notebook please visit the Official OCZ Support Forum: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=168
If you need support for a notebook purchased from another notebook brand please contact the branded vendor for support.
Thank you. -
cmon guys we actually have ocz people here and you are going to ruin that.. leave them be.. they cant do anything about this its up to ati not ocz. ocz simply buys this chassis and is the us distributor for it basically. they cant do anything about it if ati doesnt give them the drivers. go over to the ati forums and screem at them
-
After Nvidia's announcement in support of notebook GPU driver updates, ATI must follow suit--they really don't have a choice if they want to be competitive.

This thread has deteriorated into bickering as well as insults towards other member so its now closed.

@OCZ reps:
Thank you for providing your insight. Please keep "us" informed on any further development as I am sure many members will find it helpful.
