The xmg and eluktronics cc were interchangable right? So their cc 2.1.0.15 could be used instead?

Is there any reasonably accurate ETA for when Intel will be done with things?

I have the eluktronics version 17 installed for control center along with that lan driver already so I guess we'd have to wait.

@Eluktronics do you guys have the mag 15 heatsink available for purchase?

It was at 900Mhz, we fixed the issue by resetting the power saver battery profile to factory settings and now the CPU package idles around 5w or so on idle

Nice, btw I have another update on Aurora, should be a day or so before we have a test sent to XMG and the other resellers before we have a public test.

Excellent, btw is there a way to have like a default profile in Aurora so I'd be able to make a plugin where I'd control the lights if no games are present?

I think it would be pretty dope if the left and right sides of the keyboard change from blue to green to yellow to red to dictate the GPU and CPU temps and then have that side breathing red if the gpu or CPU thermal throttle :)

And if you get that lightbar project working I'd use that default profile to make the light bar change from red to yellow to green to show how much charge the battery has while it's charging.

    The possibilities would be endless!

You dont need a plugin, you can create any lighting profiles you want we have tons and tons of effects that you can layer and layer and layer to do anything really.

    See the image below.

Is this working for the QC7 or do we have to wait on the public test?

It will work for all TongFang mechanical keyboards and optom-echanical keyboards including the QC7 which is what I personally own and test on. We are still integrating but should have a public build in a few days if XMG and Intel/TongFang approve it.

How many hours should I be seeing on Power Saver mode with normal use (i.e. Google Chrome + Skype messaging)? Will battery life shorten if Steam, Origin, and Discord apps or open in the background?

Why would you update if you know since 441 the update breaks the laptop.

Hmmm, still not getting these results even after your tweak. What’s your discharge rate according to your Intel Graphics CC?

In terms of the freezing/stuttering, I've had no issues with Nvidia 441.20 (as per my other post). Updating to 441.41 just now, however, brought back the freezing/stuttering problems.

Check what version of Intel gpu driver you are using, that also could cause the studdering if you aren't using the default version, I believe xmg left a post a few pages back with all the details.

Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk

    1. Discharge rate is -12027 mW
    2. I have Intel gpu in powersave mode
Command center is also in powersave mode with quiet fan
    3. Powersave battery profile should be selected and default
    4. Windows power saver is enabled
    5. Keyboard and lightbar backlight is off
    6. Need to use old Nvidia driver otherwise studdering and Nvidia gpu stays on
    7. Latest bios 56 in use.

From what I hear Intel and TongFang proper said it was a good idea and were looking into it, we just reverse engineered the control center faster than they could look into it lol

I don't think the XMG Control Center says "Eluktroboost", it just says "Enthusiast" I believe. I haven't tested if the "Enthusiast" profile actually applies the equivalent of "Eluktroboost". In 15 I believe it used to say Eluktroboost but now it does not in 17.

Depends on the driver. This rolling back of Nvidia driver thing is only temporary. Intel is working with Nvidia to fix the issue which I assume will come out in a month or less

Probably not. Go to "Apps & Features" in Windows, uninstall NVIDIA Display Driver, reboot and make a clean install from an NVIDIA setup package.

    Meanwhile:
    • Intel is still working on isolating the issues that have been discussed in this thread.
    • I can confirm that we are helping to bring Project Aurora to this laptop.

Thunderbolt 3 Update on Intel QC71
Versions: Readme 1.0, Drivers / Control Center v60, NVM Firmware v50.0

Intel has shared with their partners a new, signed package for Thunderbolt 3 drivers, Thunderbolt Control Center and Thunderbolt firmware.

    Introduction:

This is a "Release Candidate" version, meaning: the software itself is stable and final and it will probably be identical to the final release.
However, the folder structure and update instructions from Intel were not yet designed to be read by end-users, so I repackaged everything and wrote my own instruction manual.

I recommend this update to anyone who might have real-world problems with Thunderbolt 3 docking stations, adapters or any other USB-C peripherals.
If you have not encountered any problems, please do not install this update fow now.

    Download:

    QC71_TBT3-Update_CCv60_NVMv50.zip [Download]

The file is hosted on Google Drive for now. We will host this in our Download Portal, once I get some good feedback from you guys.

    Package Contents:
    • Thunderbolt Control Center v60
    • Thunderbolt Firmware Update NVM Version 50.0
    • Instructions for Thunderbolt 3 Update on Intel QC71.pdf
There is no simple setup.exe to install all components in one go.
Please follow each step in the PDF file. Let me know if you have any problems with one of those steps.

    Changelog:

Intel's changelog lists dozens of minor bugfixes that are too technical to explain here.
The full "Release Notes" document is 33 pages long and labeled as "Confidential" - so I won't share any details.
I never had any issues with Thunderbolt or USB-C on my sample. I have a Thunderbolt 3 dock which has worked fine from the start.
So I need the feedback from the community to see if this update fixes and rare issues that have been reported over the last few weeks.

Does this update fix random wake-up from Standby?

Some users reported wake-up events 3 hours (180min) after going to Standby.
The Wakeup cause was usually related to USB-C. It happens when the laptop wants to automatically switch from Standby (S3) to Hibernate (S4) and then fails to do so.

Since applying this update, I have changed the timer from 180 to 5min in Windows advanced power management options.
I will try this with various configurations (unplugged; with charger; with USB-C devices; without) to see if I can reproduce any wakeup events after this update.

[Update, November 28] We conclude that this Thunderbolt Update does not fix the periodical wake-up from Standby issue yet.

[Update, December 2] A new permanent workaround has been posted here: Workaround for periodical Standby (S3) wake-up issue on XMG FUSION 15

    Thank you for your feedback!

This update can also be discussed on Reddit: Thunderbolt 3 Update for XMG FUSION 15 on reddit.com/XMG_gg/

    Cheers,
    XMG|Tom

Which NVIDIA am I uninstalling? There's a lot of NVIDIA-related programs showing up, and I don't want to break anything. Would it be okay to use Revo Uninstaller for installing, or are there things I won't want Revo Uninstaller to be removing? What do you mean by clean install?

"NVIDIA Graphics Driver" - it will uninstall everything else as well.

Don't use 3rd party tools if you don't need to. Try the official way first, as outlined in my post. // Tom

EDIT: Never mind, I see that it's an option I tick inside Custom installation process. Thank you.

What does clean installation mean? Is that something different from a normal installation?

I ended up ordering a Mag15 from Amazon, now whats the status on re-pasting? I can easily do it myself but do not want to run the risk of voiding my warranty.

So i received and started to use the laptop and I noticed some problems in one of the first games i tried (and pretty much the one that decided me to upgrade my rig) : Devil May Cry 5.

According to benchmarks and gameplay from youtube, I should easily be getting at least 100fps on ultra, but i can barely manage 30 with everything at the minimum, and i'm getting drops even below that in intense moments.

Do you know what may be causing it ? I lowkey think it might be a DirectX issue because the first time I tried to launch the game, I got error messages saying "x_input13.dll" couldn't be found, which i solved by downloading another version of DirectX from the microsoft website.

Any help in getting that laptop to work would be greatly appreciated.

Edit : i just tried playing Overwatch and am getting 20fps on low settings. My GT740M did better, something is definitely wrong.

It was. I ended up solving the problem by updating DirectX through Windows Update. Probably should have thought of that before making that post, sorry

Hello everyone. I just received my Mag 15 and so far so good - ran into a little trouble getting the Soundblaster update to work, but over all pretty painless.
Question - has anyone that has paid extra for any of the thermal compound upgrades received any sort of documentation, or anything, that shows your upgrade was completed? I'm thinking that these upgrades are done 'to order' and just not sitting on a shelf, but I'm a bit surprised there is nothing noting that it was done. Not even any sort of packing slip / receipt kinda thing. Another reason I'm skeptical is that I asked if I could add a dbrand skin after my order was already submitted. I got a response that it would be added, but I received the laptop with no skin. Honestly, this is no big deal since it was my mistake to forget it. But, that skin missing, coupled with no assurance that the upgraded compounds were applied makes me a bit unsettled.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Do I put the electric tape between all the plastic clips? I tried doing what your image showed but the creaking remains the same.... Not sure what else to do or if I have to apply it to all the clips? Layer it?

When I put the fabric tape between all of the clips at the front of the laptop (where the light bar is, there is about 7 clips) the creaking was 99% gone. Standard electric tape did not do as well as the fabric tape though.

It was explained to me that it is 100% a hardware mod. However I do not have permission to explain any further.

Well if its a hardware mod then its not unique to their system and all of the resellers have it.

I don’t know about the QC7 specially but the Mech G2 chassis is also shared with other third party sellers and the boost feature is not available to all resellers.

I think in this specific system since Intel was so heavily invested in it they all have the same physical hardware and features as they all share the same software and bios with no modifications at all between them.

From my dealings with XMG, Eluktroniks and Maingear working on Aurora and digging into the EC and control center etc it looks to me as if its just a text change on the QC7 and they all have the same hardware and GPU limits in place.

I think we need to do a test to find out for certain; but from my own testing on my Maingear Element my GPU boost clocks are on par with other vendors like the XMG Fusion 15 and Eluktronics Mag 15.

With that said, there’s nothing there that could declare this as a text change only and not a physical modification to the chassis.

Without the mod, text changes would do nothing.

Right a text change would just be whatever they want to label the high performance mode. For example on my Maingear Element its called Redline. If Eluktronics is doing a hardware level mod its not done at the factory, and they are doing it on their end; which I highly doubt they are doing as they are not even charging for it on the Mag 15, and that kind of mod would be expensive and risky to do and im sure Intel would be pissed if they are breaking specs set by Intel.
