Just got my K|N QX9300 Nagamaki

I had a question do you think restarting before the run would have put up higher numbers? I wasnt really paying enough attention to detail I guess.

ok..
1: make sure no un-needed task are running in the background
2: make sure all settings are set to performance. meaning: anything to improver performance aa/af off vertical sync off/ triple buffer on/texture filtering on/ al can be set to multisample or off.
3: windows areo off
4: windows search off
5 superfetch off
6: windows set to performance mode
7: external cooling..can be a fan underneath the laptop for benchmarking purposes only.and laptop needs plenty of breathing room.

try some of this stuff out....

hoop, your extreme over clocking buddy...so extreme measures need to be in play else what happens is...you system down clocks during testing. usually for a brief second but that is just enough to drop you anywhere between a few points to a few 1000 points. you have to think outside the box sir...

Can someone, hooper maybe, take a picture of the bottom of their Nagamaki? Please? Im tryin to cool my GPUs.. well, the 2nd one in particular.

 

I got CPU in check..now runnin at no more than 76c.. with OC and pump.

 

ok people...from what i have seen thus far...one of your gpu's will run about 10 degrees higher since it's the main gpu being used 100 perent of the time. at least this is confirmed with the gt and gtx's so im going to assume it's the same with the 3870's.


edit: say hoop, where are those 20+ frames score on very high crysis. if you want these donuts holes at your local doughnut shop...your gonna have to produce results buddy...LOL

 

Hey E, How hot are your GPUS running? I mean when your really clocked up?

Also what tool are you using to monitor? SO we can be ont he same software.

 

Also another theory would be to keep the fans running at full speed the entire time.

 

Another good news is might be getting a pair of 4850's for crossfire got Marks been trying to help get a few sets of these in, no promises of course. But I had my secretary spend quite a bit of time getting some new information on them. Sorry I cant disclose because of the NDA

Yea they have them in single not in crossfire yet.

When they get the 4870's in crossfire I will get them too=)

Object is to hopefully have a custom bios by done with teh 4850's that will work on the 4870's if that makes sense.

 

umm..or wait a month extra and get 4870s. If they're VGA you shouldnt need a BIOS for em. And, to the best of my knowledge, these are VGA.

speaking of patient.. ive been looking around for good drivers. I just posted in another site's forum.. Any clue about new ATI driver, or CPU drivers/tweaks? pain in the arse to update this thing.

 

All I have are the ones Mark custom modded for ATI

nothing on CPU, Although Mark and I have a few things in the works that we are awating on responses for should be by Monday. Which will take this machine to a whole new field.

 

oh..XTU, yea.. that will be all over the place in the next month or so.. But, its really no different than SetFSB..except its more GUI oriented. And has a few extra safety features. But, if the MOBO/BIOS doesnt handle the extra power..then there's a problem. the XTU is based on it's ability to..well, in lamen's terms - RMClock everything. Voltages, timings, enable/disable performance modes, clocks, Im sure you know. NHC, is the closest comparison I can think of..except doesnt adjust RAM timings..and your ram has to support that anyhow. Other MOBO mfr's already have the same exact thing. Intel is just a larger, broader company and has to be careful with what they release..and to who.

 

the only thing saving both of you is that cpu over clocking!

nice score. i looked..but there is only one thing wrong with that score...

if you look at his 2.0 and 3.0 score...it's way to low. these are the video scores

with a cpu score of 4454

where as E's score
7187
7883
with a cpu score of 3199

with scores like that...the x9100 is a better choice with the 3870's at the moment.... (speculation of course)

edit: and them scores sure are kicking my gtx's scores in the butt too...*sniff* *sniff*

 

I just get a kick out of reading Killer's posts on those other boards, he has quite a way of wording things thats for sure . Its to bad he can't ? or does not post here anymore cause its always good to read and here more story's from all sides .

 

I'd like to go visit the site, and see what all he's accomplished. Unfortunately, they banned me a while back for making a point that my 9800m GTS smoked the HD3870 in single GPU setup..and that was also with my CPU hitting 2600s @ 2.96GHz, not the 3.3 GHz theirs was OC'd to. And yea.. he got mad at me for standing up for myself. No need for me to carry on with this story, those who know, know. But, it would be nice to have the ban lifted..just to post my 3dmarks when I hit 16k

 

Maybe you should remove the "RECORD" from your sig until that times comes since you are not the record holder.

Seems like the Killer Notebooks crew has allot more support within their community to do the impossible.

1 i'm not taking anything away from that man who hit 16k on xp. congrats to him! i just said it doesn't count. that's an "opinion" and not a fact.

personally, no one can gain any real over clocking points unless they DO go up against k|n since they are KNOWN for high end over clock able notebooks. if im over clocking for records i would rather go up against best in class then to go against some yahoo who that has no clue what they are doing.

and since your trying to nit pick. who has the higher gpu score under vista?
we know who has the highest under xp at 8.8. and im sure there are many test left to come from many different notebook owners. so get over yourself!

Ok..so someone broke 16k with XP? I added a disclaimer to my last 3dmark run.. Vistsa 64, not XP 32bit..which would obviously run higher, regardless. How bout that same person load up Vista and take a whack at me? Or, I load up XP and anhialate him. And, well, GoG banned me because I embarassed them on their own forums..and now I am embarassing them here without saying anything derogatory.. otherwise I'd go see that 3dmark run for myself. Oh, and evidentally I am stirring the pot at K|N. Here's what they had to say 'bout me recently.


"...Actually that is a good lead in. This whole notebook market has been turned on its ear in the last month and most recently the last week. In the past we have had to contend with the "me too's" saying, "We're the same, there is no difference." That caused us to keep striving to be better.

Since the beginning we wanted to differentiate K|N from the competition. It started with the customizations, then the tweaks and drivers with OS optimization, then the hardware mod's and the proprietary software. The ODM wants us to send in a modified system for official approval of the cooling mods. Hmmmmm, I think I'll take the official stamp that these are approved myself.

Ironically the person that has his little campaign against K|N is driving a ton of business this way with his Jerry Springeresque rantings. People come to check it out like Hotel California and they never leave. It is also ironic that this person has a system they had to modify themselves because it ran so hot when he got it from MeTooPC.

How much hotter? Never mentions this in his smear campaign, but it was twenty degrees hotter than a K|N over clocked quad core. He also fails to mention that his home grown modifications will not be warranted by the company that built the MeTooPC. Yes, MeToo doesn't build this system, ASI does.

It seems they're embarassed of something.. or just upset that they spend money marketing and I spend time watching TV. Anyhow, have that person come post their scores, if someone else can't do so as a favor. Or..let's me and him go head to head and run XP and Vista..we'll see who comes out with the new record.


EDIT: The funny thing is, I haven't done any smearing.. I actually appreciate their Mods.. just not the finishing touches. And when they wanna come see me, talk to me, and challenge me..as opposed to smearing me when I have no chance to stand up for myself.. then I'll have a valid response. Otherwise, they know where they stand. Which, in comparison to my rig, is pretty darn low.

Runnin Gunner stated that because someone had mentioned my scores didnt count because I had a QX9300.

- if that statement were true, which we know it isnt, then in fact it wouldnt have counted.

- then I posted the 16k mark and it was mentioned that it didnt count because it was XP.

He wasnt bashing from what I read John just was taken the wrong way on different perspectives.
