Donald from powernotebooks said about a week ago that Compal currently has no plans on bringing the 00 to the US, although he did say that it didnt mean they never would.

The lower res comes with a 6cell battery, which is flush, and the higher res lcd comes with a 9 cell that sticks out of the back 3/4". The 6 cell lasts about 2-2.5hours, and the 9 cell about 3.5 hours.

It is better to buy the fully built machine from us as it is fully tested and ready to use right out of the box. Plus the warranty on all of the is through one place :D

Anyone have a clue as to how hard adding the Robson memory chip will be? I'm starting to think it might be a good investment, but don't want to mess with my order, lest I lose my place in the queue.

Because I'm an idiot! Did as you suggested, and Ron at PN already made the change to my order.

this is by no means confirmation, but i gave a call to bizcom and to micro express and this is what i got:

    bizcom
the guy there said that the info they got was that the gfx card in the ifl90 has a code name of nb8p-gs, but he said that they were told this is actually a 8600m-gt. this may be why they had emailed the previous poster that the ifl90 comes with a gs version.

    micro express
i called them, they said that they were about 99% sure that the ifl90 (which they said they didn't have in stock yet) would come with a 8600m-gt with 512mb vram

of course, none of the companies above have actually gotten the final production models as far as i know, so dont take this as meaning 100% confirmation, but at least this means that there is a very high likelihood that we will see a gt in the ifl90.

Yeah I googled for nb8p-gs and found one French site that was a bit terse but seems to confirm that the 8600M GT has a code name of NB8P-GS. (Way to go nVidia! Talk about confusing code names!)

Oh yeah you think that's confusing?? Nvidia's classes of their new GPU models go as such:

G84 models: GeForce 8600M GT, 8800M GS, Quadro FX 1600M
    G86 models: GeForce 8600M GS, 8400M GT, 8400M GS, 8400M G, Quadro NVS 140M, 130M, 135M, Quadro FX 360M

Also I found some websites to indicate that the NB8M-*whatever* belongs to the G86 class which means the IFT00 will not have an 8600M GT (as per existing european model specs).

I don't know about Milestone, but I have to believe bizcom will be selling the IFL90 since they are a subsidiary of Compal. It probably isn't up yet simply because they didn't want to offer pre-orders. Maybe give them a call to find out for sure or check the site again once the notebooks reach North America.

If it helps we are not located in Canada but ship there regularly. :) We cant save you on Duties as a Canadian Company could though :(

Edit: Bizcom doesn't sell to end users, they mostly sell to distributors.

We have been told the driver CD will include all drivers. As Donsell stated they are also available on the Bizcom website.

Duties on average are 15-20% of the purchase price of the machine. To get the most accurate rate I would recommend contacting a customs broker for your province and they can confirm the duties that will be due upon arrival.

Site admin of karen.pl - notebook reseller in Poland says that they will have several dozen WSXGA+ Compals FL90 exclusively in the whole country. So it seems that buying hires compal will be extremely difficult task.

Can you possibly call them, if you are in Poland, and ask them what speed the GDDR is clocked at (shout out to Donald for making sure I was precise about referencing clock speeds and not GDDR2 v GDDR3). :)

Will the BIOS on the IFL90 boot from a USB device?

Also, I asked in a different thread if it was going to have a Trusted Platform Module, but it sounded like won't since it isn't a "Business Class" machine. Can somone confirm this?

Strangely enough, when I emailed the sales department of MicroExpress computers regarding the video card of the IFL90, they stated that both their WXGA and WXGA+ versions would have the 8600 GT.

    Am I missing something?
