yes, but CA's prices are well ridiculous compared to pececik.pl for example. also allegro.pl might be worth a shot, they got some compals too, it's been a while already (about a week) that these machines are available.

there's also zepto.com.pl, but those are expensive too and the contact with zepto in Poland is quite, well, difficult ;)

http://pc.emarket.pl/pricelist/item.aspx?PID=C0310058 <- looks (and costs) a lot more reasonable...

it's a sad thing we mostly get only VBI's, I'd want the IFL90 not the FL90 rather with the TVtuner as well, so I probably will not be getting the FL90 in Poland.

I mailed people from zepto (international) and they anserw on the next day. I sent 3 mails to zepto.pl and they never anserw on any of my questions. they just don`t respect the customers

I know that on allegro are chipped notebooks then on CA but they have better LCD display

    PS.
    Are you from Poland?
Maybe we can speak polish? :)

well, the lcd display is indeed quite important, but I'd prolly try to look for the FL90 in the .uk unless I find a reasonable offer, price-wise. I currently own EL80 with 1280x800 glossy and it's not so bad, despite the not too grande viewing angles.

Besides, the WSXGA+ only comes with 9cell batt, which sticks out of the notebook, and I don't need the extra battery life anyway as my laptop mostly sits on some table, hooked onto the mains. Come to think about it, I hardly need a battery at all since it sits in my fridge as we speak/write ;)

I guess you can always ask the allegro reseller about offers, perhaphs they'd be able to sort you out with something better.

And yes, I'm Polish, and we can obviously speak it, tho on private as as far as I know the forum is english-only.

    Regards,

    //m.

Why is it that the Sager NP9260, suppositely the same computer as the IFL 90, at the same specs as the IFL 90 I bought about 400 dollars cheaper?

NP2090 you mean? You're not getting the warranty, the ifl90 comes with 3 years.

And the np9260 is like 2500.

GlueEater is correct. The Sager NP2090 is the Compal IFL90...not the NP9260.

The biggest difference is the 1 year warranty with 3 day shipping on the Sager compared to the 3 year warranty with Next Business Day shipping on the IFL90. There are other subtle differences as well that will make the non-Sager IFL90 a little more expensive...but call your reseller and I think you will find out it may be worth it for you...or not...either way it is a great laptop. Buy the one that suits you best.

It is reliable for the WXGA model, the WSXGA model will ship shortly after. Both are in limited quantities.

All of the original shipment has been sold, so June 22nd is not a good estimated ship date for any new orders.

You should expect them to start shipping again the end of the 1st week of July at the earliest, and more likely early in the 2nd week of July. There are many pre-orders that will need to be filled first, so for new orders the ship dates will be slightly later.

"Graphics: nVIDIA NB8P 512MB 128bit GDDR 2 32M x 16 * 8" This is a quote from Justin on the first post of this whole thread. Has this changed recently, or is the gdd2 memory confirmed, and if so, does this mean worse performance then the asus g1s?

A few things have changed since reporting this nearly a couple months back. The 256MB has been updated to the "GT" version along with the 512MB version being confirmed with the GT. There is also a WXGA+ that will be arriving in. This laptop will be comparable to the G1S in performance.

Hey, that's a nice comparison chart, Justin - thanks! Looks like the 8400 is a quite a bit slower (at 3dmark tests!) than the 7600:

    8600GT...6874(3dmark05), 3566(3dmark06)
    8600GS...4765(05), 2743(06)
    7600GT...4900(05), 2800(06)
    7600.....3400(05), 1900(06)
    8400G....1994(05), 1147(06)

insert standard disclaimer about nVidia not having had enough time to get drivers for the 8* series up to snuff.

I fond it very strange that in this review of a Clasus Dynamic (Compal IFL90) here in Portugal, Rivatuner has identify the memory as being GDDR3, but the clocks where at the level of GDDR2! How weird is that?

omg :( can IFT00 with 8400M be even more rubish than HGL30 with 7600GT? i think, no IFT00 with 8600, would be ultra stupid decision from compal... can't believe were won't be any IFT00 with 8600GS or 8600GT :(

i'll wait for IFT00 anyway and if it apears only with 8400, i guess i'll have to swithc to IFL90, guess extra inch won't make a big difference...
and nice review of IFL90 http://babelfish.altavista.com/babe...a//www.techzonept.com/showthread.php?t=163760

Are you saying the smaller resolution WXGA+ will have a noticable performance increase over the WSXGA+?

What if someone with the WSXGA+ ran a game at the same resolution as someone with the WXGA+?

I don't know, it just seems that a huge performace increase would be rediculous.

I don't know about huge or even noticable difference. It's just 1680x1550 is a pretty large resolution to push out.

And if a person was running a game at WXGA+ with a WSXGA+ screen it wouldn't be their native resolution so you'd get some lag.

Not sure if this was asked before, but I was wondering where the drivers come for the XoticPC IFL90 - compal or directly form intel & nvidia? Also, would the signed 64bit drivers available when the units are shipped?

Here is where the latest drivers are located. They originally come from the Manufacturer of the hardware and then provided to Compal. The 64-Bit drivers should be on the CD or you can use the link provided for all latest drivers.

    Hi, I'm Italian.
I have order the Santech X3620 (Compal IFL90) and I have a question: is it possible to install a Linux distro like , in example, ubuntu?
Here say that it's not possible.

I personally have not worked with Linux. The prior generation of Compals (HEL80 & HGL30) worked fine with Linux. The machine is so new I dont think anyone has tried or commented on Linux functionality with the IFL90

    Hi Everyone,

All the specs from Compal list the IFL9x as being available in three video flavors: Intel GMX x3100, GeForce 8600m 256MB VRAM; GeForce 8600m 512MB VRAM. I do not see anything about WSXGA+ resolution in these models. Have the specs changed?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Where are you getting your specs?

We have had the Compal specs for the IFL90 for several months and the WSXGA+ has always been there.

The Compal IFL90 (NOT FL90) specs state - WSXGA+ w/GeForce 8600m 512MB GDDR2...it does not come with any other video card.

    Hi,

I have an IFT00 running pretty well with Ubuntu Linux 6.10 (Edgy Eft), I suppose that the IFL use the same hardware so almost sure that it will run smoothly.

If you have few technical expertize I do not recommend Linux, it will work on this laptops after the installation, but you will miss the sound, the camera and the wireless network.

At first you have to boot using vesa graphic driver for having access to Xwindows/gnome, after you install the nvidia driver is no longer necessary.
All of this hardware is configurable and it will work on Linux Ubuntu but you have to dig on some forums:

Wireless: Intel is planning to release a driver for this card soon, meanwhile use use ndiswrapper with drivers from windows xp.
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=396204

Sound: latest Alsa drivers and patch for realtek chip.
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=489603

Nvidia already have drivers for Linux supporting this cards.
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_100.14.11.html

Camera: need to install linux-uvc and driver gspcav1, works with Ekiga(SIP) and aMSN(last version), this is a V4L2 type camera.
    http://dollarunderscore.wordpress.com/2006/10/18/how-to-get-the-webcam-on-the-hp-dv2000-working/

Hope this could point some directions for those who want to try Linux.
