Hey everyone I have the GK5CP0Z laptop and I was curious what thickness of thermal pads should I be getting for the CPU and GPU? I want to renew all of them as they are getting a bit worn.
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

Looks like the customer rep went on vacation or something. Called both numbers for OP, no one has been answering the phone since yesterday.
-
Someone is working there at least; my laptop was delivered there yesterday.ChiFlipNurd312 likes this.

Wow. Thank you so much for confirming that. I guess it's just a wait game now. I have emailed them twice in the last 2 weeks... not a single reply. Fun company....
-
Out of curiosity, I tried to call the OP support line just now. It looped the intro messages three times (what's with the serial killer computer voice?) and then just hung up on me.
-
Yep, had the same response on both numbers. When I called a few hours earlier though, the message was to call during business hours. I am guessing someone came back and reset the message ? Or it auto reset after reaching a timeout ?
Edit: called now, got placed in queue.Last edited: Dec 18, 2020 -
well so they fixed my laptop and when I got it back the screen was working fine, but now the keyboard and battery are not working. It does not work unplugged from the charger and keyboard lights are all off and none of the buttons work... going to try to reset the computer and see if that fixes it, but if not, I may have to send it in again. hopefully I wont have to pay for shipping again though...

Geez that's terrible. This thread does not give me much faith in their customer support.
My laptop is thermal throttling like crazy. It spikes to the 90s while browsing the web and I'm using a laptop cooler. -
same has happened to me all day today. have tried to call at least 5 times throughout the day and the message plays 3 times then it automatically hangs up on me... wondering if I should try to find EVOO support's number and try that lol
I need to get this fixed asap because my warranty expires in like a week... -
Yup. Tried calling a bunch of times too and I experienced the same thing...
Honestly, I don't think trying EVOO's number would hurt. You mind posting it by the way? You know, in case we get desperate lol.
Edit: Called again and got through. I hope the wait estimate is over stated cause I am not in the mood to wait for 600 minutes lol (5:11PM)Last edited: Dec 21, 2020 -
6:40PM Update
So I got off the phone and even though the last CSR said he would forward it to management, and this one said he would do the same. TBH he kind of sounded over it, yet polite lol.
Stated that I would most likely be provided with an EVOO replacement and went on to give the the EVOO support email ([email protected]). Customer service isn't terrible but literally everything else is lacking... I mean we did get this laptop for a steal at the time and now it shows lol.
Until I get my replacement, I am still anxious.
He mentioned I would be CC'd on the email he sent, but if not I will email EVOO support regardless tomorrow.
Happy Holidays!
P.S I also had asked if EVOO support had a phone number and said no and that email was the only way.Last edited: Dec 21, 2020 -
How long have they had your laptop? Just curious how much waiting to expect. They have only had my laptop since Thursday. I assume 2 weeks extra on top because of holiday delays.
-
Could you post the number here that you contacted support at ? I haven't heard anything from them.
-
They have had my laptop since November 16. Am not feeling good about it lol.
TBH Bro, call and check on yours. Press them until they give you something. I have been calling and barely got anything. From what I understand from the 5 times I have called so far, like a couple days after they got it, they knew mine was unfixable, but still it's taken this long...
Some of us have been contacted upon receipt, others like me have never once been emailed unless I contacted them. I'm not really trusting them right now since they originally told me a 3-4 week turnaround.
I have been calling 1-800-379-3820. Expect to wait on hold for like an hour. So much fun...Op25705994 likes this. -
Well I am still getting the error message calling them. Hopefully I can get through... guess I will just have to keep trying... hoping for some good news.
Edit: Just got in que finally. There is a 1 hour wait it says. Hopefully they will approve sending me a new one or at least paying for the shipping to them this time since I got it back damaged from them...Last edited: Dec 22, 2020ChiFlipNurd312 likes this. -
So, finally talked with one of the CSRs. I learned 2 things. 1: they are expecting new laptops only by the first 2 weeks of january, so I wont be getting a replacement anytime soon. 2: I will not be getting an op laptop again. It will be their new evoo model that is similar in specs.ChiFlipNurd312 likes this.
-
What are their hours? I just tried calling and was bounced out with the three-message loop, no queue. Is that because the queue is full?
-
I just got off the phone with them as well and was told the same thing. They will be paying for my shipping to them this time since it was not working when I got it back and will be giving me an EVOO laptop replacement with similar specs early in January.
I don’t think the EVOO laptops have an 8th gen i7/gtx 1060 though because they are newer and none are on walmart’s site. The only one I saw on walmart’s site currently is one with a 9th gen i7/gtx 1650. That is a worse gfx card than the 1060 we had. I hope that is not what we are getting... -
Yes, just keep calling every 20 min or so and see if it gets you in the que. That’s what I did and eventually got through. I believe they are open 9am-5pm pacific time, but am not 100% certain on the closing time.
-
They hung up on me after 40 minutes, and now the message playing is that it is after "business hours" of 4 pm PST (that's 1.5 hours from now).
-
Yea 4pm pst sounds right, but just keep trying. Their system has been busted the last several days. I got that same thing earlier today when I was trying to call and eventually got through.
-
I tried exactly at 1 pm CST. When I tried it before then, it would kick me out after the 3 welcome message repeat
-
... now I am really worried about what they are going to send. At this point, maybe having my old laptop might be better ? I mean the flicker problem goes away if you use an external monitor.
-
When I called, the rep only mentioned high end. Considering only Walmart officially sells these computers and that there only seems to me a low end model in stock online seems to confirm that second week of January estimate for replacements being in stock.
They had told me high-end, but no details so I am assuming at least 1660ti or if were lucky the 2060. Reasoning being that I sent in laptop with a 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD but none of the current models have an HDD and max out at 512GB SSD . I'm freaking guessing, but considering the BS estimates it would only be fair to get a top end model.
The following Redditor sent in an LP-3 (17in model) and got back a 2060 but they said it takes 2 months which falls in line with what I have been dealing with. (11/16 - 1/2 week Jan. 2021)

Update: 12/23 - After another one hour queue waiting on the EVOO support line and basically was told they didn't know anything, so either I am expecting a random delivery sometime mid-January or literally nothing. Hoping you guys get useful news, because I am not sure if calling this often makes a difference...Last edited: Dec 23, 2020Op25705994 likes this. -
Hi, are there any TongFang gurus that can help me out with this question and also this one? Thanks in advance!
-
Yeah, that is the exact wording he used when I called... "High end EVOO replacement." I am hoping for a 2060 or 1660ti which would be amazing but not getting my hopes up.
I just sent my unit back out to them today. So early next week or so when it arrives in CA, I will call again and try to figure out exactly what they will be sending me back + keep you guys updated. Kind of funny we all had the same issue at the same time though. At least we are going through it together LOL

Right? I was hoping this would all be handled by now but nope. We are all anxiously waiting...
Anyway Happy Holidays folks! Hopefully no one in your lives bought you en EVOO lolOp25705994 and PhatPharaoh like this. -
So update: my original OP laptop arrived back at the warehouse today according to the UPS alert I just got. I was told to call them when it does, so tomorrow morning I will try to get in que and hopefully I get some news and update you guys on what they will be sending out as a replacement.

Does anyone know if both the M.2 slots are PCIe x4? Or only x4 when only one slot is in use and splits to x2 with two ssd? Or x2 on each independently? I have a pci-e x4 ssd on slot 1(upper) and I want to put another one.
-
has anyone been able to get ahold of them anytime recently? I just keep getting the message that it is after business hours.... has been like that for more than a week for me. Do you guys think they are still closed for the holidays?
ChiFlipNurd312 and Op25705994 like this. -
Think they will be back by Monday.
PhatPharaoh and ChiFlipNurd312 like this. -
was just in que for 45 mins and 3rd in line then it ended the call and now I am back at the end of the line and have to wait another 70 mins lol
-
I have been trying for every half an hour since 3 hours ago... cannot even get in queue...
-
I literally just called like 20 times in a row until I got in lolOp25705994 likes this.

good luck haha hopefully we get through to someoneOp25705994 likes this.

So I got through and he told me that he is going to expedite my replacement laptop, but he has no idea what model/internals it will have/when it will arrive... So I guess I will just have to wait for it to arrive, then can complain if it is a worse gfx card... He put me on hold while he was doing that and then the line cut out lmao so I have to call back and make sure it was completed. Just my luck going to have to get in que again and wait.
Edit: Got in que again and 85 min wait LOL. I have the worst luck!Last edited: Jan 5, 2021 -
Omg.. lol. I was told that a manager will get back with me via email. I will let you guys know soon. So far, the CSR is not aware of any new shipments that made it to their warehouse.PhatPharaoh likes this.
-
Same. After waiting in que again, I was told that a manager would contact me in 3-5 days by email or call and that he would let me know what I will be receiving back from them and when I can expect it. Hopefully we get some good news at that time I guess.Op25705994 likes this.
-
No reply so far so I called today. They have now created a new technical dept and I spoke to someone new. The CSR said I will be emailed back in 2 days .. but also couldn't confirm if their warehouse had recieved new shipments.ChiFlipNurd312 likes this.

Just got off the phone with Overpowered. My unit is not repairable, so I'll be getting a replacement. They said they expect it to ship out the week of Jan. 25. I'm not holding my breath.
ChiFlipNurd312 and Op25705994 like this. -
So "good news" (if they actually pull through), I called and after only about over an hour and a half long hold, the rep "called the warehouse" and confirmed that the unit they are sending is an EVOO LP-5.
So not a 2060 but if I receive a working laptop then I can be done with this crap lol. I asked about tracking numbers and he said 2-3 days for a tracking number to be sent, so I am expecting a random box to show up at my door instead. That's based on other peoples experiences on the EVOO reddit. 2 months of waiting... I will post an up date if I get a tracking number or a random laptop in the mail.. Good luck my dudes or dudettes, home stretch!Last edited: Jan 11, 2021Op25705994 likes this. -
Yea.. at this point I would rather have something. I do/still wish its a 2060 though. The CSR that I spoke with said something about R series ? ..maybe I misheard. Hopefully i too can will recieve a definite answer in the next few days.ChiFlipNurd312 likes this.

So I got a tracking number, but not from support. (I never received a call or email as usual, and never expect one. tbh.)
Looks like they are using FedEx, and you have to sign up for a free fedex.com account if they haven't given you a tracking number otherwise. It lets you see if anyone is shipping something to your address and you can keep stuff on a watch list to track. This was a day after they told me it would ship in 2-3 days, so first time they did something they said they would. Scheduled to ship today and get here by the 1/18.Last edited: Jan 12, 2021Op25705994 likes this. -
I am glad your issue was solved. I will try to give them a call tommorow and see if they have an update for me as well. Do let us know how this model compares to the OP one.
-
Will you post when your actually have some tracking movement, not just a number? That would confirm that they have replacement laptops in hand, which would mean that presumably those of us waiting for replacements should be getting some updates soon ...ChiFlipNurd312 and Op25705994 like this.
-
Well, it ain't solved till I can test it lol. But true, thanks man. I hope everyone gets a fair and acceptable outcome. You know, gaming laptops with working backlights lol
My gripe is that the LP-5 only has a 512GB SSD vs the 1TB HD/128GB SSD with my previous one. I am scared to argue that, but I will wait until this one comes in to debate whether another 2 month wait is worth the argument lol. The positive is that its a 9th gen that's can still be undervolted where I heard someone say the 10th gen can't unless I have bad info.
The only information that was updated today was the it was "picked up" in Anaheim , CA. The tracking info says it is indeed an EG-LP5-BK which is the one the rep said they were sending out.
But of course, I will try and keep you guys in the loop on my laptops cross country road trip.Op25705994 likes this. -
Picked up means the package is in FedEx hands. So that means that actually shipped you a new laptop. Hope for those waiting for replacement stock.ChiFlipNurd312 likes this.
-
what are the specs on that model? I will also try to give them a call tomorrow, but have not heard anything back from them yet. Is that the one with the 9750h and 1660ti? Still would be an upgrade over ours if that's the case, but hoping it is not the one with a 1650!
Hopefully we all get some good news soon!
EDIT: Also, the 512 GB SSD should be an upgrade over the 128 GB SSD/1tb HDD. We can easily add an extra 1tb 5400 rpm HDD for really cheap.Op25705994 and ChiFlipNurd312 like this.
