Finally my Recoil II arrived from RMA with a totally new display..... AND IT HAS A STUCK PIXEL *dying inside*
On black screen the pixel is blue and on blue one it is black.
I don't know how Quality control works on PCSpecialist, but i sent the laptop with a black wallpaper and they return it with the same one and the problem is only on the black wallper. WTF PCSpecialist??? The stuck pixel is the first thing i saw after 2 seconds my laptop turned on, how did you not see it?

UPDATE: The stuck pixel went away. I don't know if the 1 hour epileptic video helped, but for now i'm happy with my full working laptop

Ok.. then I have a follow up question for PCS about this topic.

    If I buy a laptop:

    * And not the dead pixel warranty.
    * Or the 30 days dead pixel warranty.

    (does not matter which one)

Then I have to RMA my laptop back to PCS after 30 days. For other reason(s). Which are nothing to do with the display.

    * And my RMA'd laptop I send back to you for service has no stuck pixels.

    * Then you need to exchange the entire laptop, including the display.

    * Will you guarantee to me that the replacement does not have any stuck pixels?

    * Or do I need to buy the 12 month stuck pixel guarantee, to be sure this does not happen?

    * Then what happens for an RMA after 12 months?

This really concerns me. Sorry about all the questions. But I would like for some further clarification. Please service this guy's problem first though ^^.

It's my situation. I bought the 30 days warranty pixel and the display had no dead pixel. Now they replaced the display and i have a pixel stuck. I will try to fix it with some (unuseful) youtube video. Then i'll try to write again PCS to ask what they can do

I heard of s program that sometimes works. It does different patterns and such to possibly unstick pixels

I tried to order one from PCS today but they are out of stock of my preferred config. I see the XMG comes with a 180W PSU.

    "Intel® Core™ i7-8750H when combined with 6GB GeForce GTX 1060 + 15.6" Matte Full HD 144Hz Screen. Stock is due: 29-08-2018."

After reading all the way through this thread, I decided to buy one of these from Eluktronics because they were having a sale on a preconfigured system. I'm wondering about their version of the bios and gamecenter. For those who got a system from them, did you keep what they include, go with the Mechrevo bios and gamecenter, or do something else?

I'm just about to head to bed, but they do include Gamecenter with the full per-key rgb settings, light bar settings, fan profiles etc. Not sure about the bios, will check tomorrow.

So how are the Eluktronics MECH-15-G2 (Tongfang GK5CN6Z)

    Treating those that got one?

Looking at one of their newer sale specials with SSD premium drives and liking the specs and price.

Costs less than outfitting their base model with the same specs.

Yeah, the specs and the price on the deal they have at their website seems really good. It's what I ordered, but today I got cold feet and decided to cancel. I decided I really want something with a better battery.

Yea that's been part of my thinking. And now with the RTX 20s official I'm wondering what improvements they are bringing to the table. What their actual proposed performance will be or if they'll be able to get the GDDR6 ram stock for mobiles sometime in the next few months.

Could that Ray Tracing be efficient enough to affect battery life and such. Important questions.

The new RTX are for now only desktop and will avaible the next 1-2 months. There are no news about the 2060 desktop and mobile and will probably be announced at november-january. The first gaming laptops with RTX 20XX will arrive quite surely at april-may.
The GDDR6 aren't RAM for laptop, but for GPU, so if the 2070 has GDDR6 also the future 2070 laptop is going to have gddr6.
The Ray Tracing has nothing to do with battery life

Quite a month ago i found a new way to convert our keyboard switches from a "cherry mx blue" to "red" (no clicky sound, but no "click" feeling)
Today i modded my switched and now they are just a cherry mx brown (no sound but the "click" feel remain)

It has been fixed more than a month ago. There is no more power throttling issue

For who is interested our switches are GTMX 20-16. I don't know what they are, but there are few keyboards on the chinese market with that switches

There is Thermal throttling only under benchmarks, but it's a common thing for all laptops. In gaming no throttling

PCS told me that their 1.04 BIOS is the stock 1.04 BIOS from Tongfang. It does have the the OTP setting but they have disabled it because there are other settings that would also be enabled too which could cause damage to the laptop if used incorrectly.

For using OTP at medium or high you need a better PSU and a good cooling base, so for the everyday use OTP low is pretty good. For this reason i switched to XMG Bios, latest EC and better optimization (i hate Mechrevo logo, too much colours).

So Eluktronics says they are looking to have a 1070 Max Q version for their Tongfang GK5CN6Z version (MECH-15-G2) by early next year same with their model having the expansion battery at the cost of the 2.5 slot.

Course they say it all depends on their source so that could be changing.

Well that was before the Nvidia conference . Though with the increase in power requirements and GPU sizes. About the only thing that could support them would be the larger Clevo laptops if they are announced.

So we might be a while before the thinner laptops get anything on the RTX line. If power requirements don't end up having just some redesigned Pascal 2050 and 2060 GPUs

I've literally went through every single page of the entire thread and just want to thank you for the effort you've put in (everyone else too)..

I saw your post about not flashing the 1.10 bios using batch file (the one called f from chinese site) if you already have the EC version 1.25.09 and then your guide on how to flash the PCS 1.04 bios on the next page.

So to install the 1.10 bios using efi, would i just copy the AfuEfi64 folder (from the bios section) onto a usb stick, then navigate to the dir section via efishell and type f.nsh and press enter to install the bios and that's it? Does the pc automatically reboot etc once its installed or do I need to do something after?

Is it worth using the xmg 1.11 and newer ec like you ? If so, were do I go to download them?

Thanks again for your help and everyone else in the thread.

Depends on the gaming requirements. I have only a GTX1060 and it will be enough for me at least another 3-4 years for sure. I don't play FPS and similar. Maybe my next notebook will have a 2xxx model, but not in the near future. I don't need it.

It would really help for people coming back later on, if there were a wiki or guide somewhere. Or if the #1st post was updated to include that. For the correct / best /safest flashing procedure. These important posts - have already gotten lost here. I can't find them anymore.

Here you can find the XMG updated EC and bios. Remember to flash before EC (only if you have a lower version) and then the BIOS.
    https://www.mysn.de/driver/1_XMG/XMG_NEO_15_XNE15M18/BIOS/

I think that the XMG bios has just a little bit less performance, but a better battery than the mechrevo one. Actually i'm happy with the XMG

Thank you kinder. Could you please confirm the exact method to flashing via efi shell please? I see people just typing in the name of the .nsh file and it automatically updating and some people manually typing the bios name and then lots of /letters but different letters so I have no idea which ones to type if we already have PCs 1.04 and 1.25.39 ec without using batch file in windows as you say this can brick the laptop.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1htHPRexB941-UoumWXr8n52_wR-A8xx4/view?usp=sharing

After you update the bios, go in bios "load predefined value" or something similar. That's all

Best Bios are Mechrevo and XMG
. XMG is a bit lower than mechrevo but has better battery

    Hi everybody,
I've been following this thread since a few weeks, and I would like to thank all of you for the accomplished work.
I just ordered the GK5CN6Z from PCS (Recoil II) with the following specs :

    i7 8750h
    GTX 1060 w/ 6GB RAM
    2x8GB RAM DDR4 2666MHz
    240GB Intel 760p NVMe M.2 SSD
    1TB Seagate HDD 7200t/min and 128MB cache

    and the 144Hz FHD screen

    for around 1400€

I will repaste with some Noctua NT-H1, and try to apply the mod for quiet switches with feedback

Cant wait to receive this new computer and sell my 4 years old beloved MSI GS60 !

I asked for the 180W PSU but they still don't know when/if they will be available, at least on the french store.
