Hey guys, I've been following this thread for quite a while and I've been thinking of purchasing it but this ( )
review of the laptop said that there will be a GTX1070 model released later this year (at 8 min 30 seconds).
Can anyone confirm if there has been any news that the GTX1070 model will be released?

    Hello,
Is it normal that the general right side of my trackpad is hotter than the left side. (the right side where there is usb3 port), It heats more if I plug a USB key and becomes very hot when I play a game While the left side does not heat too much. is it a problem with my driver, or my RMA at PCS who had not solved my laptop problem that goes off by itself (the solution was to take a 180w adaptator) ?

If you use have a single HDD it's normal beacuse the heat is generated by the HDD that is working

Mmmmm, but i have this feeling since i resend my laptop to PCS , they said they fixes my problem , but it only worked in one case (playing xcom 2) , and i flet like loading in the game where slower ... , maybe they did something to my HDD .

    Is that possible ?

So guys I've been following this thread for a long time and I just got my laptop from Eluktronics. I ran an XTU cpu stress test and no thermal throttling but power throttling and current limit throttling throughout the test. Temperatures didn't go upwards of 56°c. Any solutions?

Yea from what I've seen around its due to some power limit throttling on the cpu firmware so the problem has been happening on other i7-8750h equipped laptops as well something with heat dispersion so they limit power to limit clocks to limit heat .

I've been talking with Elucktronics myself about this model too. I'll be sure to inquire about their findings.

And ask if they've a rep around the forum.

You'll probably get more information out of those that are familiar with voltage and core tweaking. But so far I've not seen any good solutions.

    Hi Mike,
try re-setting your bios to defaults, I had this weird behaviour after upgrading to Mechrevos 1.1 bios and a reset of bios fixed the issue. I dont use XTU, only Throttlestop, so sorry cant help you there.
What TDP are you hitting with your CPU during benchmarking?

Haven't gotten one myself yet. Chatting with them about their possible refresh next year.

Search for "i7-8750H power throttling" and they discuss a lot of options mainly under voltage testing.

@Fastidious Reader With a repasted and undervolted machine (with 1.1 bios) there is no power throttling, myself and other guys here can run the CPU maxed out for as long as temps allow. I think the first PCS bios also did not throttle, but it sounds like the 1.04 might.
I had experienced what I thought was throttling twice on this machine:
    - First was where I used my throttlestop settings from previous laptop and it caused CPU to drop max TDP ceiling to something like 35w. Fixed by using default settings from another user / disabling Speed Shift in TPL settings.
    - Second time was after I upgraded my PCS bios to Mechrevo one. Post upgrade CPU was nearly incapable of turbo, but temps were also abnormally high (would hit 90c at 2.2Ghz, whereas normally it can max out at 3.9Ghz @ less than 70c). Bios reset fixed that.
Personally I'm very impressed with cooling capabilities of this laptop, where it can max out all 6 cores at 3.9Ghz and fit into 45w of TDP, whilst Aero 15x / Razer Blade 15 both throttle heavily, despite being pretty close in size / weight.

I think it was an Areo 15x that was experiencing power throttling I read somewhere.

That's actually good to know. Eluktronics offers a paste upgrade using a newer metal formula. Bit more stable from what they say. I'll look into getting that done before they send it out if I get their current G2.

Also check and see what their version bios they use.

Hope as Tongfang models get around more maybe we'll get some PremaMod work at some point and really sort these problems.

What undervolt specs are you using?

    -130mw cache
-140mw core (unlike with previous generation CPUs you can set the undervolt all the way to -999mw in throttlestop and not crash your machine, so I'm pretty sure CPU over-rides the offset value to keep stability. Anything below -140mw doesnt make any noticeable difference for me, so I keep it there).

    Hi all,
coming back to the Linux Touchpad issue. It seems like the solution is called Kernel 4.18.rc6 ff. At least it worked on a Razer Blade 18 which had exactly the same issues with similar error outputs. As far as I understand that "Kernel talk" the problem is, that in current Kernels some PCI Cannonlake Stuff is not fully supported. As this fix has been issued by the Intel -Linux guys, it is hopefully implemented in future Kernel updates.
If I find some time I'll definitely try it out, but the problem should resolve itself in the near future.

    The Fix:
    add https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=277507&action=diff and
    https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=277553&action=diff
    and compile the Kernel.

My bios settings were also unchanged, but after flashing another bios made my laptop have throttling issues until it was reset. I'm only suggesting it just in case your reseller updated bios before shipping, thus triggering the same issue... A bit of a longshot, I know.
    My throttlestop settings are:

    Hi !!

I have had my Recoil II for 3 weeks and I´m very glad with it. I bought it in www.clevocenter.com, and update it with 32GB 2400Mhz, 512GB m.2 sata Crucial and 2TB HDD 2.5".

I adjust with throttlestop votages to -139mV/-125mV (core/cache), set 41T in multiplier and high performance in gaming center.
You can see the result here. The temps are perfect: 77ºC (27ºC ambient).

    https://www.passmark.com/baselines/V9/display.php?id=106018342226

The CPU is great: 14700 in passmark.

FYI, for anyone who is wondering if the 144hz panel is worth it, I got mine from Eluktronics with the 144hz panel and I haven't had any backlight bleeding issues with it, and of course that refresh rate makes everything super smooth. The internals here (stock, no undervolting/OCing) don't seem quite enough to run modern games on high (or ultra) at a framerate to take full advantage of the 144hz unless the game is super well optimized, but it's still a good viewing experience all around imo. Definitely worth the 100 USD extra that I paid for it.

Skyrim SE with DynDOLOD and 4k textures and a couple dozen mods runs at 55-60 fps with BethINI high/ultra presets. I think Skyrim's clamped to 60 though due to its engine.
Witcher 3 high settings is ~70-75 fps.
Guild Wars 2, ultra everything: -no other players around in vanilla maps - 75-85 fps
character limit/quality lowered, everything else ultra - 55-65 fps vanilla maps with normal player pops
expansion maps and zergs make 1080TIs break a sweat, I was about 20-40 somewhat stuttery fps on ultra in the current Boss Bash event

    Edit again:
BDO maxed settings is 45-50 fps, turn off the "high-end mode" and it's a steady 58-60 or so with little visual difference.

When I get Titanfall 2 finished downloading I'll check that out as well.

Edit: this is the 1060 version, not the 1050ti.

Pretty sure there is no g-sync support. CPU runs well under gaming loads, have not seen any throttling at all playing Titanfall 2 / ME: Shadow of War, with CPU temps lower than my previous machines with quad core CPUs.

I'm temping usually about 70 celsius on GPU and 60 on CPU under gaming conditions, measured with HWmonitor. I got Skyrim to unclamp and with some Reshade, DynDOLOD medium (high was same fps but a bit of stutter when loading exterior cells), and BethINI high I'm always >60 fps, usually 62-65.

    No G-sync on the panel.

Titanfall 2 ran smoothly on high with the 6gb vram textures, resolution scaled down quite a bit though when I set the FPS target to 120+.

So going with how the Tongfang GK5CN6Z models is laid out would it be viable to get a smaller ssd drive for the OS (say about 256 GB) and then a 1TB drive for programs games and such?

    Both being M.2 SSDs

Unfortunately I haven't done any monitoring of frequencies during gaming, but during benchmarks it comfortably sits at 3.9Ghz throughout the run... I guess it would depend on the loads, but I expect similar frequencies during gaming as well.

Yes, it's definitely feasable. I'm using one nvme ssd and one SATA as shown in the picture.
One thing I like of this computer is that attached inside the lower panel in correspondence of the ssds there is a relatively thick aluminum sheet whith a thermal pad to dissipate the heat.

P.S: how do you attach pictures directly to the post in this forum?

Does anyone know if there is any word on the larger capacity battery? It would seem that Origin might have sourced the larger battery as their version of this laptop has 8 hour battery and no 2.5" SATA slot:

Its been a bit since I've been to this thread. I got my laptop almost 2 months ago and most things are running very smoothly, but I'd just like to run a few issues I've been having by you guys to see if anyone has had similar ones and to see if there's a possibly solution.

    1. I lose connection to online games I play very frequently, way more than I'd like to or more than I think is normal. It happens in a multitude of games, whether they're on Steam or not. I've tried monitoring my wifi but nothing seems to be the issue, and it happens even if I'm the only person in the internet. Anyone else experience similar things?
    2. The Gaming Center program gets detected as a cheat device in some games that I play. Not really an issue since I can just force close it, but it seems like a flaw.
    3. My laptop doesn't seem to respond well to my 5G network, but does fine on the 2G network. Or maybe its my 5G network? Either way, it'll frequently drop, stutter, refuse to connect, or really do anything with it. Is it a fault of the laptop?

    Hi Turnip,
Ive done some online gaming and have not had any disconnects myself, signal seems to be stronger than on my previous Aero 14. Might be worth checking whether your WIFI antenna are connected ok to your WIFI card, I've had an issue with another laptop where WIFI was all over the place and it turned out to be one of the cables had semi-disconnected. When you say your 5G network - is this with an internal 5G card?

ah doh, yes of course... One thing to try is to disable your bluetooth if you arent using it, I've had a few intel cards give me ****e WIFI performance with bluetooth enabled and being rock solid with bluetooth off.
