Asking around the 17 inch model key caps are unique to its design. And I've heard no change in the 15 inch key caps so that's something they source themselves

Welcome to the laptop world. I think you need desktop PC with a "super ultra destroyer pro gaming TN monitor". The 0.005 seconds less of delay will surely improve any gaming session.

Oh well. So I'm happy to know i'm totally wrong. When the new keyboard will be avaible i'll buy it and try to understand how to install it. There are 2-3 screws under the keyboard. I'm quite sure it is required to remove also the motherboard to have access to the screws.

Yes it is true. The 17" laptop uses the same keycaps of the 15". They are the same keyboard with the same "switch" type.

I wanted to buy a full keyboard (in Spanish) since I have several broken switches and they told me that they did not sell the keyboard, only the keys ... although in the end they sent me a few switchs for free (thanks PCS!) but It is curious that you are offered the full keyboard.

Anyway, changing the full keyboard does not seem like a simple task, as IKinder_bueno says you should probably remove even the motherboard

I agree, this is was I was thinking about when I said "fully and easily removable (without removing glue, bending some parts, destroying some other...)". I agree it's not as easy as changing RAM, but it's still removing screws and parts and unpluging stuff. I hope that if you were able to repaste CPU and GPU, you will be able to replace the keyboard without the need of extra special tricks, skills or tools.

Wow, looks like we have contradictory information from PCS. @yachar do you have access to "My spare parts" on your PCS account ? This is where I saw that I was able to buy new keyboards. And the technical support guy told me that these keyboards are entire keyboards, with switches and caps, and that he was not able to send me only a few switches as you had. Lucky you !
So maybe you're right and the the technical support guy was wrong and when you buy a new keyboard on "My spare parts" page from your PCS account you only get caps... or not. Arf, so confusing.

@Jacob Hawkes Please, could you give us some clarification on the following points ?
    - What do we actually get when we buy a new keyboard from our PCS account on the "My spare parts" page ? Only caps ? Switches + caps ? Or fully mounted keyboard ?
    - Do you know which caps style will be mounted with incoming new quiet keyboards ?
    - If we bought a Recoil II with the clicky keyboard, will we be able to buy new quiet keyboards as a spare part and install it our-self ?

    I bought a asus rog plus 17.3.
The damn laptop gives off some high pitched noise which I find annoying. Damn, and if I exchange it the next asus will probably have the same annoying noise.
Then there is only the Chinese brand as my last option where u only hear the blowing wind coming out. But which has a slow response time, the serviced told me 16ms.
And of course worse graphic card and no gsync...
Horrible I don't know what to do it's a dilemma both options seem bad

You can't complain you car has not the same quality of a Maserati if you have a budget for a citroen. You have just a too low budget. Add other 500-600€ and buy a zephyrus or a razer

Yes, in my account I have "My spare parts". The think is that I bought a replacement for my keyboard (hoping a new entire keyboard) and PCS contact me to confirm that they only send the caps, not the entire keyboard. After explaining my problem to the support girl she sent me for free a couple of switches, and refunded my money :)

Has anyone replaced the slim versions LCD? Curious how easy it is vs the regular thick bezel version (ie is it just the same prying/replacement or more steps).

Well that doesn't exist, so no. Although the 6GB 1060 might as well have been called the 1060 Ti and the 3GB version the regular 1060. Mid-range and low end Turing GPUs are rumored for early next year, including a 2060 Ti, so we'll see.

Well that's what I'm getting at the recent upgrade to the 1060 with GDDR5x and 10,000Gbps clocks using the 1070 GPU underclocked on top of the '17 9000Gbps upgrade.

Would the probable 2060 even come out as a 1060 upgrade if they keep upgrading the 1060.

Was the Laptop 1060s ever upgraded to those '17 specs?

For those who still messing around with Linux. I managed to disable the dgpu completely for better battery life. The battery thingy tells me that I have 8:45 h idle and I would guess around 4h while working with the Laptop. Didn't disable bluetooth or the webcam and didn't limit the cpu or anything.

the 1600mV discharge is a snapshot it looks like the battery discharges around 1300-1700 mA with the dgpu and around 800-1000 mA without it. Currently running Manjaro Linux with the 4.19 Kernel. But to be honest I am still struggeling to make the dgpu switch off permanent as the system freezes currently on wakeup after suspend.
So still work to do. On Manjaro my one and only steam game for linux works and runs wonderfully with the igpu, no difference to windows, having to admit that total war medieval 2 is not really a benchmark for anything.

I am thinking of undervolting the nvidia card on windows. ;)

Walmart will be soon be a reseller for this chassis as well. Interesting. Price is pretty good. $1400 for 144hz, i7-8750H, 1060, 16GB, 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD.

They already have the page up and it specifically mentions the mechanical keyboard. I hope they'll have this in store to test out. I'm curious about how loud the keys are in real life. Just wish they could have come up with a better brand name than Overpowered, complete with a big OP logo on the laptop. Ugh.

Is it normal that I can not install the Intel UHD Graphics drivers? I have installed the ones that Windows gave me, but if I download from the pcspecialist website or if I search for drivers with the intel tool, it tells me that it can not be installed.

    Oh Thanks Sr.
    is the Mobile-Intel-HM370-Chipset
    Link: https://ark.intel.com/products/135101/Mobile-Intel-HM370-Chipset

It is very important to know the PCI lanes available in this model.
the CPU has 16 available to be used by the GPU.

    The GPU uses 16 lanes

And the chipset has 16 more that will be used for USB connections, SATA, M2 (nvme PCI uses CPU lanes) etc.

So as I see the standard configuration of this model the GPU instead of using the 16 lanes ... it will only use 8

GPU-Z provides information on how many lanes the GPU is using

I received the cyberpower tracer iii slim today. It didn't come with any kind of game center (just some led app that didn't work). I downloaded the gaming center and it works to control fans (and switching performances changes the clocks).
The problem im having is that the "gaming mode" for the fan does nothing. The fan just never turns on in that setting and the clocks just drop more and more and the temps rise to above 80.

Any idea what version of the gaming center I should try or something I can do to fix the gaming mode?

I downloaded the 1.2.2.2 gaming center in this thread (and have tried other versions to similar results).
According to cpu-z my bios is by "American Megatrends" , and in biois the version is N 1.03. EC 1.19.09

    This is the gtx1050ti + 8750h version

Yep thats what im clicking, and every time it brings up this:
    https://i.imgur.com/H6puVWF.png

Edit: I also tried an earlier than that version on page 109, same results.

The fan doesn't seem to turn on at all when pc reboots/starts up (and when it setup windows there was 0 fan noise which also surprised me).

If I enable the control app and set the fan to office mode and whatever percentage, temps ingame seem to be fine, but it is kind annoying having to change it manually every time I game. Also the fan boost button doesnt turn fan on max, it just toggles between game mode (no fan at all) and office mode.

Yes. The PC will go in throttling very easily. Just low it and you will not have any trouble.

I found the updated BIOS from Illegear. 1.06 BIOS and EC:1.24.09. It will resolve all your issues.

The default one for Intel are 45W and 78W for short power max (for 30 seconds).

Oh well is really too much. Just low it down as i told you before.

Which version of Gaming Center are you using?
The mechrevo version automatically changes the Watts when you switch between Gaming (45W &55W) and Office Mode (35W &35W)

1.2.2.1 and high performance. but I dont understand why these high values have been set, is that how they come from the factory?
the only thing that I have changed has been the voltage at -145.

I flashed both the EC and BIOS (with illegear replacing the cyberpowerpc logo).

However it did not have any impact on game mode, the fans still stay off and temps rise to 90c or more.

Still, enabling the fans manually in office mode still works fine, and ingame the gpu stays pinned at 99% with 1785mhz boost and the cpu bounces between 3.3 and 3.9 ghz (probably because it's set to office mode and not gaming mode), and the temps stay between 65c-78c (depending on game). I could probably enable EST and set it to 0 in throttle stop to stop the clock bouncing.

Still no idea what cyberpower did to cause such behavior. The fan boost button also switches between office/game mode and not turbo fan like for other versions of this.

    Ok guys final toughts here.

I own a Recoil II and with bios and ec from here http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=07617434095608468172
With gaming center 1.2.2.3 from Mechrevo.
After you install gaming center you can install XTU to unlimit the power(90W) to the CPU. I get like 1265+CB score.
I have a script that will run the xtu profile that overrides the gaming center profile when u lock/unlock laptop so u can get desired power limit + undervolt.

Works great and i`m sure it will work for any of u.
If u need the script just ask for it.
My settings are -120mv and 30W limit.
This way i use office mode with fans at 50% at 65C and 0 in rest.
So silent <3. temps @ 77-80 on GPU and 75-80 to CPU. but it is silent.
make sure the laptop`s back is rised like 2 cm from the table. Use a rubber thing to elevate it. Cooling pads not needed.
    fans off when not gaming.

    Works great.
