My personal opinion is G-sync is not needed on a high refresh screen. Plus it kills what little battery this has.
    You sure?

This seems to indicate both slots are X4? Or is that something different?

For those concerned about removing the warranty sticker, the manual explicitely indicates you can do this on page 20:

HDD / RAM / SSD / WLAN Compartment Cover Screws You can remove the screws to install or remove the HDD / RAM / SSD / WLAN compartment cover. ( Please refer to the HDD / RAM / SSD / WLAN compartment view on the following page.

The only thing they say you need to contact them for is the SSD on page 21:

If need to upgrade SATA SSD to PCIE SSD: Please contact technical support and after-sales service.

Link to the warranty - you might want to download this copy in case they change it:

You might be correct on that. I had heard that it was only a 2 lane but have not tested it yet. I edited my other post until we can get a conclusive answer. There is enough false info about this laptop already....

For the next 30 days I wouldn't worry about the warranty sticker. Do you think John Smith behind the customer service desk at Walmart is going to know about a warranty sticker? You might even get away with returning this thing 6 months from now without a receipt and getting store credit if something died on it.

Hmm I heard the same: 2 lane ... 4 lane would be even better. I only have one M2 NVMe SSD and one M2 SATA SSD to test with which I already replaced in their respective slots (NVMe on 1 and SATA on 2). Thanks for the flyer link @billycuth, I've been meaning to save that.

To answer some previous questions, I used 2x16GB Crucial memory in mine, nothing fancy: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-16GB...7151&sr=8-2&keywords=crucial+sodimm+ddr4+2666 .. about the goldkey memory, I will probably sell that off. I looked and they DO sell faster Ballistix sticks (CL15/16 vs 19 @ 2666 mhz) but that relies on XMP profiles which this BIOS does not support, so you'll likely be defaulted to a basic slower profile.

Just waiting for battery to come back in stock now and I will do that + Kryonaut repaste next ... does anyone have the exact dimensions of the battery? If we can find an equivalent that's readily available, fits, and is compatible, that would be great.

someone said this 16gb patriot stick was compatible with the goldkey memory: https://www.amazon.com/Patriot-2666...sr=8-2&keywords=patriot+16gb+sodimm+ddr4+2666 so I'm gonna try that and report back. Also, did anyone get the intel software pack that was supposedly included with the OP line of laptops? I didn't and walmart support is saying I have to physically return the laptop in order to get it.... haha if I didn't own PUBG already I might, but it's still pretty annoying cause I planned on selling the code

Yes, I'm sure you could pair it with any basic ddr4 2666 stick and it would work perfectly fine. I'm just anal about that kind of stuff and want matched sticks from the same batch.

Oh, BTW another question about these wallmart laptops:

Can you provide the following information about the box / package?

width, length, height of the box.
+ gross weight of everything as it comes in the box. Including the laptop, packaging, and power brick etc?
(and which model, the 15, 15+, or 17+)

    It would really help.

For those of us wanting to import it into another country, coming from USA. Since we dont have wallmart... as it still works out a lot cheaper! Thank you.

    17.5" x 5" x 13" - this is the exterior box for the 15+. Very well packaged.

Shipping weight was 12.30 LBS for the 15+, Ill update this comment when I get home and can measure the dimensions of the shipping box but it was SUPER tightly packed. Compared to my y530 which came in an oven-sized box, this basically had no extra packaging except for the foam corner protecters around the actual laptop box.

That's the dual pack I was thinking about getting. I have Gskill in my desktop. Any idea if that CAS Latency is better or worse that the stock gold key? I don't have mine yet to compare the values. I'm also kind of in a mind set that there would be a hurry to sell these. If I sell them I'll want to catch that big wave of people buying these after this sale.

I should have a performance review of the 15+ featuring single vs dual channel ram by Friday.

All of which are on the most recent BIOS/EC, gaming center and Windows build 1809.

since there's less traffic on the 17 chassis thread, i am posting my question here, MOD please remove this post if it's inappropriate

could someone please confirm if the 17+ has one stick of 32GB RAM, or 2x16GB RAM?

this review from tomshardware says their 17+ has room for another stick, when i first read it, i thought the 17+ has 3 ram slots (hey, bigger chassis, why not?! and yes i am a noob, lol), but someone on slickdeals interpreted that as one stick of 32GB

    https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/walmart-overpowered-gaming-laptop-17-plus,5555.html

    someone shed some light?

It's "faster" since it's CL15 versus CL19, but I don't even think the OP 15+ will really be able to take advantage of it.

What are you guys running for undervolt settings?

When I run benchmarking in XTU I am getting some power throttling and current limit throttling. Temps just touch 90C though. Weird.

Can't break 1,000 on the score, and my cache frequency and core frequencies are different.
