Check MD5SUM / SHA256SUM of downloaded ISO, use the no frills, but very effective Etcher application to burn it. Shut down OP, plug in flash drive, turn on, press F7 to get to boot menu, select UEFI [Flash drive name]. I booted up 5 different sticks (Acronis, Clonezilla, Linux Mint, Windows, and Memtest) and they all work just fine.

If it still doesn't work, try a different USB stick / USB port.

What settings are people using to up the PL1 and PL2 power limits to 45w and 56w respectively on the CPU? With the Control Center software installed, my PL1 and PL2 settings stay at 35W each regardless of which mode I select. I am running the latest bios, command center software and windows 1809. I can only get the PL1 and PL2 power limits to 45W and 56W if I remove the Control Center software. Also running dual channel memory.

Ok re-installed the Control Center software and that did the trick. Gaming mode was not upping the limits vs office before - working properly now.

Anyone here willing to buy another extra of this laptop battery? I'm going to mod the laptop to make it last longer but I don't need the extra battery.

I'd also like to know if reversing the Fn key is possible. I used SharpKeys to remap a few different keys, but it doesn't detect some of the Fn hotkeys.

Mine still has all the factory plastic on it. I plan to replace it all with a vinyl wrap next week. I will definitely share that...if it goes according to plan.

Hey ya'll, I just flashed the bios and ec(1.16/1.33.09) and got the mechrevo gaming center(1.2.2.2). But there is this weird Chinese app that launches with the gaming center at start up and plays music, anyway to remove that annoying program or do I have to install the whole mechrevo gaming center and install a diff one. Also what's the most stable/powerful combo of bios/ec/gaming center?

Well there you go! For such a low framerate, even a dual core with hypertrheading would do. That´s why you won´t see your CPU downclocking much, it anything at all. The problems start when you want to take advantage of a high refresh display. At 60fps (GPU bottlenbeck), the CPU is barely working, so it will never reach its power limit.

If by any chance you try to connect the device to an external 144hz monitor and use Low Settings, 80% res scale 1080p, uncapped framerate, your CPU will struggle to maintain the 3,9ghz, as it will be heavily used, specially on Battlefield.

Successfully upgraded the ram in my 15+, didn't have much luck getting the trackpad tightened down, couldn't seem to get enough of the screwdriver down on it to turn it (or else it was already tight) and I didn't want to over tighten them either. Almost got the warranty sticker off without too much damage but then ripped the corner off trying to get it off the razor blade and dug a little in the case with the blade as well so it is obvious that it was removed anyway. The only game I really have that I can play is Forza Horizon 4. Prior to switching to the dual channel ram, it seemed to be a little jerky at times and in the new Fortune Island DLC it was even worse (more eye candy I guess), however, I didn't have any way to benchmark it since the game wouldn't start when I had MSI Afterburner running. After the change I did discover that the game can display the FPS and GPU utilization and turned that on. In the base game I was seeing rates from the mid 80s to the mid 100s and in the DLC it dropped from the 70s to 90s. For the video in the game I had it set to what it detected as optimal settings. I don't know if anyone else has this game and has seen similar numbers or what. I still am not in love with the trackpad (or like for that matter) and did they really have to make the corers on the front so sharp. Still not sure if I am going to keep it or not, but haven't found anything remotely interesting that is in my price range. Anyway just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone has seen anything similar.

Playing Farm Sim 19 my cpu wattage is under 20 watts and I’m getting frame drops with only 70% GPU usage. Is this caused by the Ram issue? Cause it’s not even close to the 35 watts. For reference, my 6700k desktop cpu runs over 40 watts while playing.

Also ran Cinebench and the wattage was below 20 as well.

As far as the trackpad being finicky, I changed the sensitivity from Medium to Low and pretty much don't notice any other issues. Possibly the default image that came on the laptop had this on and it went away when I formatted.

I hear you. I pretty much hate the touchpad. Part of the reason is that mine needs tightened, but that won't help with the rough feeling it has. It is like identical to the Logitech K400's wireless keyboard's touchpad, which was manufactured almost 8 years ago. The Logitech K830's wireless keyboard's touchpad even is much better.

I would put a plastic protector over the trackpad. I'm still using mine with the plastic it came with over it, and I can't really complain. I was expecting the worst after using a MacBook for the past 5 years, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Had no problem transitioning to this trackpad.

I have not done any gaming yet and I'm currently downloading Battlefield1. Have most people done a fresh windows iso install? I don't see any bloatware on mine and it seems running well without a new install.

Yes, I have been playing FH4 constantly on it, and just played a few PUBG games as well. I'm in love with the performance on this laptop compared to one I had at similar price point but much different specs. I had an ASUS FX504GE-US52, but performance was sub par, couldn't run FH4 even on lowest settings.

On this thing, man its night and day!!! I would even go the extra distance to say it outperforms my XBOX1X model!!!!

I just updated BIOS using the one from OP website, and TBH, I had better results on the stock one while gaming, but nothing real noticeable...

I have everything stock internally, undervolted -.125. Gaming fans, and a modified Performance Power setting (basically so the hard disk doesn't turn off on power, and set the minimum core to 5% instead of 100%).

Runs great, I don't see any big difference running turbo fans except the heat on my lap while I'm being casual... Of course for and FPS I hook up an external mouse and viola!!!

Game settings are default optimized which set basically everything to HIGH > ULTRA.
    FPS - 80 - 100
While streaming the FPS drops about 15-20%, not too bad and playable on HIGH settings.
SINGLE CHANNEL 16GB STOCK RAM. :D
    Cinebench scores were 1280+.

For everyone that has complaints about the speaker sound, I agree it could be louder, but it still gets up there...

Check out the Sound Blaster Connect program that comes with this thing... pretty cool things you can do to adjust the volume. I noticed there was an adjustment for a tab to "automatically" adjust volume so it doesn't have too loud of sounds when other things are going on.. I turned that off and I can enjoy playing CASUALLY with no problems... For anything competitive I use my Astro A40TR's and there ya go..

My gamertag is the same as my forum name, let's link up.

I didn't do a fresh install either. Just went to town with CCleaner.
Damn, very nice. I ran a couple Cinebench and got 1170 and 1204.

And yeah, these are the settings I'm using in Sound Blaster Connect.

    https://i.imgur.com/nUC3dVZ.png
    https://i.imgur.com/JaYebGx.png

I played around with the bass and EQ settings, but end up not bothering because I really couldn't tell a difference, there's no bass either way to me.

I flashed the bios to 1.0.5, but can someone tell me how/where I can get the latest EC?

Also, any way to have the light bar turn off when on battery and stay on when plugged in? And or turn it off when the laptop is closed (automatically)?

I had an RBS2019 for all of about 8 hours. That trackpad is a joy to use. I've never owned a macbook because they are way overpriced and completely underspecd (for any kind of gamer, anyway).

I've been running on the stock image and so far I've gotten 3 blue screens. Don't know why. Once I get a new drive I am going to install everything fresh.

I have a 16GB of goldkey coming and I am gonna get a 970 EVO drive (eventually a new battery if they ever come back in stock). Once it all comes I will open it up and do a repaste as well while I am in there. Debating liquid metal..

You'll want to resolve those blue screens before reinstalling, otherwise you'll just be pushing the issue forward. What error code / message did you get on the bluescreen? That will help narrow down the problem.

It's not just that the speakers don't get loud... it's that they are horribly distorted and have poor midrange and low reproduction. Especially noticeable with music.

A soundbar or external speakers will fix that.
I took pics of two of the three:

When you have an Administrative command prompt open you have to change to the directory (CD) where your batch file is located. For example I unzipped it to a folder on my c drive called OP Bios-EC. So I would've typed
    cd (hit enter)
    cd c:\OP Bios-EC (hit enter)
then run your batch file by typing the name of the batch file and hitting enter.

So i returned my 15+ and purchased the 17+, I am liking everything about it except for one thing. The fan button is swapping Office Mode and Game Mode instead of activating Turbo. Is this an issue any other tongfangs have and is there a way to fix this?

If you don't know cd, maybe you shouldn't be flashing your bios. You really shouldn't claim tech savvy, that command is basic like the very first command you learn without a mouse.

I see all this talk about flashing a new BIOS update and EC, but what are the benefits of doing so? I'm not particularly seeing any issues with my machines stock BIOS and EC. I read through a fair number of posts and haven't come across a reason why people are doing it. What issues is it fixing? I was always under the impression that you shouldn't update the BIOS unless something is broke.

I pop the hood of many cars... Doesn't make me a mechanic.

Yes it is easy to build a PC and a lot of people have done it, but he's not claiming to be special or looking for any kind of validation. Nor is he claiming to be a "mechanic" or tech in this case, all he said was that he feels he knows more about PCs than your average Joe and that this process seems like it would be hard for your average Joe. And I agree with him, your average user has not built their own PC and this process would not be easy for people that don't know what they're doing / where to look. Don't know why you guys are busting his balls.

Mine will do this if I press near the top of the key. On mine, the 'X' key does this really bad. I can hold the key down completely, near the top of the key, and it won't register. I thought I was just missing the key when it happened while gaming, but now messing with it in notepad I'm realizing how bad it is. Anyone else able to reproduce this? First time I'm actually thinking about exchanging this machine, but I'll wait and see how much it bothers me.

I am of the same opinion. I'm not going to bother until I have a reason to update EC and BIOS.

Yes, I have that problem. I frequently have keys not register and occasionally get double-taps.
