Hey Blebleuh, they didn't give an EC file seperately. That being said, the N.1.00 that is in their Zip also only has the Bios file, I'll upload it to my Google Drive as well so people don't have to download a 5.5GB zip. They both have EC 1.33.09 in the names and seem like they're from Sept. The N.1.00 Bios seems to have the Bios in there twice, but I didn't change anything from the folders.

There is not a seperate EC file in either, so its just the BIOS and I updated it by navigating to the unzipped folder and running the F.bat contained within.

My GDrive link is here for the folder - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1n92DI2cxv_6LgY1memEtpyANI4EAu24I

Let me know if you have other questions. Suprisingly, OP support got back to me 10 hours after emailing them last night so that was kinda nice.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. I would personally just use the smaller drive as the OS drive and install a 2x NVME in the second slot for the rest of the software then call it a day.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will eagerly wait for your battery swap tutorial btw. Mine's already shipped!

Just outta curiosity, why not go for a x4? Does the board not support it? The one I linked is only 10 bucks more expensive and seems to be x4

1st slot is Sata or 4x NVME
    2nd 2x NVME

I tested a really fast NVME 3200/1800 in the 2x lane and it was quite a bit faster than a direct 2x speed.

Sorry for my ignorance, don't understand the nvme tecnology all that well. Doesn't it scale down to 2x if used in that slot? or in the scaling do I lose more speed than I would get by using a standard 2x?

Just trying to buy the most future proof part possible, thats why I'm thinking about buy the one I linked. If the laptop has no problem scaling down the 4x linked and it will run at the same speed as an 2x, I don't mind paying the 10 bucks difference.

Yes, an NVMe 4x drive should work in a 2x slot at 2x speed.

I'm using driver version 417.35 installed from Geforce Experience, reinstalled driver twice but it doesn't solve the problem.

Btw, Bob thanks for the great laptop recommendation. It ran great out of the box and with your awesome throttle stop tutorial this thing is humming. No throttling what so ever with -.250 core and -.125 cache with 100% cpu and gpu load temps are 88 and 68 respectively with max fans. With cooler master (edit: notepal x slim) cooling pad it drops another 5 to 6 degrees.

Other than this weird fake issue, it running cool and performing as expected of a gtx1060.

edit: I should note these temps were achieved with ambient temps of around 15C or cooler, after running same test at 25C there is definitely throttling when stress testing. It still runs near the thermal limit but my cooling pad and re-paste with kryonaut solved the throttling with temps ranging from 81C to 89C across all cores.

Can you please share your ThrotteStop settings? I'm still running stability tests but I'm nowhere close to -.250

How are you guys going about the multiplier?

Hey guys, I've got the 17+. I'm curious what you guys are seeing for your GPU frequency? On BF5 and Overwatch the most I get is 1620Mhz, overclocking has zero affect. I'm also seeing wattage pulled by the CPU upwards of 65w. Temps during BF V are hitting 97c.

    Settings:
    Gaming mode - Active
Power settings - Equilibrium and Balanced
    Undervolted. -.130 core and cache

I'm hesitant to repaste in case I decide to return and Bob said it had little affect on the Mech G2, but it appears people are having good luck with paste.

Thanks for the help guys. Sorry for bringing 17" questions here, but I got crickets there

From what I see in HWInfo the only PCIE slot seems a full 4x lanes so if there is a limited 2x slots should be the SATA/PCIE one or maybe both are 4x, I've never heard before that one is only 2x. To me this would make sense because a slot that is supposed to work with SATA drives doesn't require the full bandwidth.
In my only PCIE slot I have a Samsung 970 EVO that reachs its max speed of 3500+ read and 2500+ write during speedtest. Annotazione 2019-01-05 121900.jpg IMG_4924.JPG

Yeah I read that over in the slickdeals forums. Seems like there were several people affected by this. Huge mess up on the shippers part. Walmart is using a third party shipper for these.

On my OP1 I just loaded the 1.02 BIOS linked earlier and it seemed to cap my turbo speeds, so I downgraded back to the 1.00 BIOS and it resolved the issue. The 1.02 BIOS was giving me around 130 points less in Cinebench and was only turbo-ing up to like 3.7GHZ. With the 1.00 BIOS installed it was getting up to 3.89-3.95 pretty reliably. I think I am going to stay on 1.00 until they release a new BIOS that has the same or better performance.

Add another one based on this chassis: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Medio...750H-GTX-1060-FHD-Laptop-Review.390681.0.html ... looks like it's based on the GK5CN67 but I see little difference (EDIT: there is definitely some, not thin and light like this one) between that and the GK5CN6Z. We were really spoiled at the prices we got these at, thank you Walmart.

EDIT: Eek, 60 hz panel on that one... looks chunky too, says 5.6 lbs.

    Watch Bob's video,

As you can see in the video, you can take it all the way down to -.350 core voltage, but then the issue is the cpu will throttle itself to 3.1ghz.
At -.250 core and -.125 cache voltage, my laptop hovers around 3.5ghz and boosts to 3.9ghz often.
Although I don't think -.250 is necessary unless you want to squeeze out every last bit of cooling you can get. At -.125v core and cache stress testing with aida64 for cpu and furmark for gpu my temps were 85 but at -.250 core and -.125 cache they were 82.
These temps are with max fans, Cooler Master's NotePal X-Slim cooling pad, and ambient temp of 22c.

I don't have BF5 but with AC Odyssey, and Witcher 3 at Ultra settings my GPU is clocking just about 1800 mhz.
Your temp of 97c seems pretty high to me, with AC and Witcher my temps max out at 78 with no cooling pad and max fans. I had the 17+ as well and as far as I remember it ran around 6c cooler than the 15+.

Hey john2john, I thought I fixed the issue by updating the integrated graphics Intel UHD 630 driver through device manager. Then I reinstalled the nvidia graphics drivers from Geforce experience. Last night it was not showing FAKE anymore but when I turned op laptop this morning it back to being FAKE again. GG

I am getting 1600-1700MHz clock speeds in Battlefield 1 regardless of OC settings, but there are other games that seem to ramp up the frequency more easily. Remember your goal is not high frequency, but high framerates. So compare your framerates with others instead of clock speed to get a performance comparison.

Holy schmoley, this is quite the thread you guys have going on here! Any chance that there is a summary page of what needs to be done to the OP computers once you get them to get optimize performance? I know about the second stick of RAM fix, but not sure what else. Mine is a Nov manufacture date.

**I'm not super techy. I mean, I can get my way around and install a stick of RAM... :)

You can also find usefull tutorials on @B0B's youtube channel.

EDIT: by the way, @sicily428 you can maybe update 1st page, as I changed/added several things last two days. Thanks ;)

Last night I checked when I read the initial post and the 1060 wasn't even showing up at all, only integrated graphics. So I checked just now, and it was showing up, but displayed FAKE like yours. Then I launched a game, exited, restarted aida64 and it showed without FAKE. Could this be something with optimus?

I actually had a Medion PC back in 2004 - 2007 that was Medion Desktop with Pentium 4. There was a slickdeal where Aldi's the grocery store was blowing them out for $500 - 600. I loved that PC and ended up replacing the heatsink on it with something better.

    Fake nVIDIA video cards detection
AIDA64 can now identify counterfeit nVIDIA video cards with reflashed BIOS images, fake PCI identifiers and pretend device descriptions. Prime example of such video cards are old GeForce GTX 650 cards sold as GeForce GTX 1050 in popular webshops.

    Here is what mine shows.

    Thanks for your reply.

I've watched Bob's video. Was wondering specifically about your settings and multiplier. Cause running it at 63T (stock multiplier in my case), I can't get much farther than .140 (Bob's video is based on a different chassis, running an older iteration of TS). So, wondering if you lowered the multiplier to 41T, as his video shows. Don't know what effect the multiplier has, trying to research about it

In regards to all the AIDA64 Fake GPU reports. This seems to be a well known issue by the AIDA developers, and seems to have been patched in the new beta version of the program. Its produced by the applications feature to "wake up GPUs" in order to make sure they show up in AIDAs menu without the need to run a program that makes use of the dedicated GPU.

    For more info: https://forums.aida64.com/topic/4594-fixed-fake-gtx-1050-report/

Per Bob's TS video, Windows power to balanced (Better performance) slider dead center
Added the Patriot 16gb stick, bringing to 32gb Dual channel ram
Replaced SSD with WD Blue 500gb
    Repasted with Kryonaut

In PUBG on medium settings after 15 mins of play:
CPU and CPU temps Low 80s, 3.9ghz CPU
CPU hovering around 35w - is this normal?
Saw CPU hit 90 degress - hit turbo fan button to quickly bring temps down by ~10 degrees
    60-80FPS in game

Question to the group is are these expected temps after a repaste?
Is the 35w CPU expected with the undervolt?

I can't remember if I lowered it or it was at 41 default but there's a good chance I lowered it after watching Bob's video and reading this article
    https://beebom.com/how-use-throttlestop-control-cpu/
    It says
"The set multiplier might seem complicated at first, but it’s quite easy to understand. All the currently available Intel Core CPUs available today have a base clock of 100 MHz regardless of the multiplier. Let’s assume you have a i7 7820HK CPU with a base frequency of 2.9 GHz and a boost frequency of 3.9 GHz, you can overclock it to 4 GHz by setting the multiplier to 40, which essentially means 40 x 100 MHz base clock = 4 GHz. Once done, the FID column on the right side of the application’s window will show 40.xx, if it actually worked. Unfortunately, the processor I have is an i7-7700HQ, which is cannot be overclocked, so the software won’t let me overclock at all."

So a multiplier of 41 would allow the 8750h to reach its Max Turbo Frequency of 4.10 GHz

But like in Bob's video, I've left the Set Multiplier Box unchecked so I don't know what effect reducing it to 41 has if any.

    edit:
Okay so after playing with TS a little more I think I get it now. On battery mode I set Multiplier to 20. Then I ran TS bench with the Multiplier box ticked and unticked. When ticked the cpu topped out at 2.0 GHz and when unticked it got up 3.90 GHz.

Following that logic, 41 is the correct Multiplier setting for the 8750h in performance mode because its Max Turbo Frequency is 4.10 GHz

cpu is pulling 3.9 so there isn't a reason to push more wattage to it. should be fine imo
