They sell different ones there too, but check the adapter size is correct. The one above is the same as my overpowered (5.5/2.5mm). Some use a larger barrel.

You can use a service like superbuy (google superbuy taobao) to ship to you, but since it's kinda heavy, after shipping it'll be expensive. But if they have on taobao, they prob sell on ebay as well which will make shipping cheaper, but longer delivery times?

So they don't have any spare chargers available? That's odd.

Yeah, that's what i've been told on multiple occasions. It seems like the manufacturer is firing on all cylinders to get these out as is so spare parts are hard to come by.... at least that's what i'm being told.

Can someone compare their level of coil whine with mine while running a Firestrike session? It's starting to worry me, I have the 2070 chassis.

I've noticed it happens only on GPU intensive tasks. And the whine completely stops at the Loading screens. Does yours sound the same if you get your ear close to the keyboard? (I can hear it from about 12in/30cm onward)

It is more audible just after the loading screens finish / before the fans kick in and cover it.

Edit: i initially thought this came from the fan but I reran firestrike again (ran it maybe 10+ times and have never noticed it before) and this time put my ear literally on the keyboard and I do hear a humming/buzz. However as soon as I move my ear 4-5 inches away from the kB I can’t hear it over the fans.

Is that something you hear that far out? I also hear it around where the CPU and GPU are. I assume it’s coming from the fact that those are drawing power... interesting.

Does anyone know if the panel on the latest Eluktronics Mech 17 is the same one that came with the OP17? I had to return the OP last year because I could notice ghosting / high pixel response time. Same panel or no?

Potentially it should be OK, if it states it can take 16" devices. I found a perfect sized sleeve for mine, just received the 16" version of this sleeve and it's just right:

How loud is the fan noise?

Edit: does anyone know if Mech 17 has XMP profiles to set ram speeds? I found this on Amazon
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XRBS4Y5/

But it seems it only runs at 2666 if enabled in bios.

So I redeemed some HP gift card/points for this “Hp 27b curved display”. It claims it’s 75hz freesync but I’m unable to break past 60hz, even if I try to create a new resolution. Am I doing it wrong... wouldn’t be the first time lol.

Edit: disregard the jerry rigged setup, just testing it out.

Okay so when I go into the BF V settings it shows the display as 1920x1080 @ 74.97hz but shows 60hz in the Nvidia control panel..

What type of video cable are you using? Hdmi or display port? Not sure with that exact monitor but I know hdmi is pretty much useless for high refresh rates on new monitors.

*Edit* just realized you're running at 1080p not 4k so the hdmi should be fine. Have you changed the display settings in windows to 75hz? https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-monitor-refresh-rate-windows-10

That's the odd thing. I was in BF V and it showed the display as 74.9hz lol.

Also pretty impressed with the performance. I was playing for about an hour or so with laptop with lid closed and back raised. Everything is set to ultra, motion blur at 10 %, v sync off, dx 12 disabled and I'm at a solid 80-100 with temps at 67 ish. I was kinda shocked lol. I assume it takes a hit once you turn on ray tracing. I'll try that out later.

I'm on the bios and only see voltage offset for cpu. No ram settings.

Also fans can ramp up but definitely nothing out of the norm of what all/most gaming laptops are. Ambient noise for me is about 48db and it ramps up to about 59-60db. It is also a "hollow whoosh" and doesn't have a piercing tone like some of the other laptops I've owned.

That's some fantastic performance! And yeah I noticed a huge tank in performance with Ray tracing. But I found that you could get a good chunk of it back by lowering the resolution settings to about medium with dxr enabled. Dlss doesn't seem to do much for 1080p at the moment.

And did you check your display settings in widows to see if that was the bottleneck?

so turns out under the list of resolutions, if i kept scrolling down under "PC" the first 1920x1080 was 75hz. I was looking under UHD, HD, and SD list. user error :)

I have that ram in my 2070 version I just received. As mentioned earlier there are no xmp settings for RAM in bios, although the description does state "Modify CPU and Memory profiles" lol. But look at Newegg, they have the ram cheaper or did on Monday at least.

Just got my Mech 17 2070 version last night. Started setting her up this morning. Initial impressions are that the keyboard seems a little more responsive than my OP17 1060. I like the Eluktronics gave it a 50mv undervolt in Bios right from the start. A nice touch. Below are some initial Firestrike runs as well as my settings.
    Mech 17:
32GB Crucial running at 2400 for now
    512gb Sabrent Rocket NVME
    128GB PM971(free so why not)
i7-8750 at -50 undervolt( I will consider this stock settings for the CPU below)
    RTX 2070.
    Stock thermal paste.

Laptop propped up on my OP17 during tests :D All drivers latest as of this morning.

So far I am pretty happy, I will be selling my OP and my 1080 desktop as this matches or beats their performance and overall I have missed my laptop obsession over the last year :)

Paid ~1460 + 140 for ram + like 58 for sabrent SSD. Can't beat that price for an RTX 2070 NOT Max Q laptop.

First run, 100% stock, sorry did not get temps

As of right now my highest is 17,702 . -125mV on CPU +190 core and +750 memory on GPU

Max CPU temp was 77, max GPU was 76. I can post a link to the results if desired.
Gfx score was 20,935 Physics 16,304

I want to hit 21k gfx and 17,800 firestrike but I may be at the ceiling of my silicone lottery... lol

That's pretty sweet man. I kinda stopped tweaking with it once it broke 17.3k with 20+k graphics but I should try to see what I can squeeze out of it. I just got lazy once it beat it out both my Alienware 17r4 and omen x 17 both with an i7 7820hk and 1080 clocked 16k ish and those were mammoths lol.

Good to hear about the fan. I saw the video few pages back and it sounds loud beside coil whine which I'm not worried about. It seems like the phone was very close to the fan when filming

Sadly it's no longer on sale and it's back ordered. Since it's running at 2400, I see lots of 2400 ram deals for $150. It would have been nice to get this tho.

^^^ Anyone have anything on this? It's one of those pet peeve deal-breakers for me, though I understand not everyone will care about response time that much. The motion blur on the OP17 was too much for me. Can I expect the same panel on the 2070 Mech-17? Any info anyone has would be much appreciated -- looking to make a purchase very soon.

The OP17 and the older Mech 17 used a 30ms panel. The thin bezel Mech 17 uses a 9ms panel. That's according to Eluktronics.

I have a 3ms panel on my desktop and I personally can't see a difference but that's just me.

I second this. I haven't used the op17, however the response time on the mech-17 2070 seems totally fine. I've noticed zero ghosting so far. It's definitely not a 30ms response time. The 9ms eluktronics states for the panel is accurate. Every game I've played on this laptop so far has been an absolute joy.

Thanks. Can the display be mirrored to an external monitor while playing full screen games? As in, both displays on and running on the 2070? Or does Optimus prevent this?

Hey guys, what's the latest and best bios for the Mech 17-G1R? Mine has an i7-8750h and RTX 2060 (so it's the GK7CP0S I believe) and I'm curently on the default BIOS as I just got the laptop. I heard that a bios update can fix the problem with the display not opening when the lid is closed then reopened.

I have a 5ms panel monitor and I'm not noticing any motion blur. I'm coming from a 120hz ~20ms panel and and it's noticeably snappier in apex and other fast paced games. Based on eluktronics response on dave2d's review, they're claiming 9ms.

You are able to mirror the game on both displays however it puts additional strain the 2070. I was still able to hit 70+ fps on both monitors but once I closed the lid I get 100+fps on the primary.

Response time claims aren’t necessarily standardized so the 9ms number doesn’t mean much. It could perform vastly differently than another panel that claims 7ms, for example, even though the quoted spec is only 2ms different. There’s a lot of marketing BS involved in response times. So I’m curious to know what the panel parts numbers are for both the OP17+ and the RTX Mech-17s, and if they really are different. Some of the websites that list response times are also clearly wrong, as shown by the Dave2D video. So it’s possible that the OP17 really had this “9ms response time panel” even though those websites showed it as 30ms or whatever.

That’s very strange. Generally the card outputs what it outputs and doesn’t have to do extra work to mirror displays. Extending displays or changing resolution is obviously another story. But generally mirroring doesn’t affect anything. Someting to do with Optimus or the iGPU? I’ve never used an Optimus laptop before.

When I first got my OP 17+ I was getting Cinebench Marks around 1200 with -125 under voltage. I just checked this morning and it is now at 976. :-( I checked Throttle Stop and it is still set for -125.
I want to check the other settings, does someone have a link to the Throttle Stop screen-shots that were posted back when everyone was trying to tweak their machines. I think there in the other thread around page 70-120 but haven't found them yet (I should have bookmarked it).

Anyone know where I would find the audio drivers and software? OP LP3 drivers listed on the support site does not work for me.

Also does anyone know if the subwoofer actually works?

That''s a very good question, I tried the drivers on the eluktronics site and the creative drivers don't recognize the hardware either. When i opened it I noticed a "subwoofer" but im underwhelmed with the audio, for casual browsing it's passable. No one should be gaming out of laptop speakers imo lol.

Thank you. I undervolted mine so the thermal head room is enough to push is above 1850 through most of the game.

I really can't understand how Eluktronics and Tongfang did this. 2 weeks later with the thermal paste curing and an undervolt on both CPU and GPU, my Temps are a averaging high 60's and low 70's after a few hours of gameplay. I am not using a fan under my chassis.

Amazing how Alienware, Asus and MSI to some extent still can't figure good thermals out.

How much did you undervolt by? I might tinker with it a bit and having a reference point to start at would be helpful.

And I agree! Tongfang has totally surprised me with the cooling solution in this laptop.

    Hello,

I have 2 questions regarding how this laptop works with external G-Sync monitors.

The simple question is: if I attach a G-Sync compatible monitor to one of the MiniDisplayPorts, will the monitor match it's refresh rate to the FPS that the laptop graphics card is outputting?

The complicated question is: If I use the 2 MiniDisplayPorts to hook up 2 external, G-Sync compatible monitors, could I display a game across all 3 screens (2 external monitors & the laptop screen) with nVidia Surround, with the G-Sync monitors adjusting their refresh rate to the FPS of the game, even though the laptop screen is locked to a 144Hz refresh rate? If the answer is no, is there any way to run a triple G-Sync monitor setup with this laptop since there are only 2 MiniDisplayPorts?

    Thanks for your help.

Sorry missed that one. Yeah i'm right around 1650-1690 mhz. I myself am shocked as to how they got this figured out. The folks over on the m15 forums are raving about 85C on a max q unit, and it's not any better on the gs75 page.

Can you post a pic of your settings, i 'd love to undervolt the gpu but i'd rather go with something tried and true lol

    That #2 is a doozy :D.

On #1, currently my external monitor is freesync, but with the newest drivers and nvidia's added "compatibility" it treats it somewhat similarly to gsync. With that being said, once it do enable free sync it does match the resolution of the monitor.

I believe it should. Eluktronics doesn't get a special version of the chassis. If you're going to the larger battery you will likely have to remove the motherboard, which isn't too difficult. You'll have to do this to move the sata cable out of the way after you remove the drive caddy.
