Problem with new Windows update. Saw a few Illegear Selenite having the same issue
It does have Optimus. Tongfang laptops do not have disabled Optimus from what I know

Unfortunately idk about the power draw since HWinfo will not detect the correct power draw and I don't have a power meter to measure it. However I can see the max voltage is 0.95V, the clock speed is higher than average and the performance is indeed higher than every 2080MQ laptops. You can check out all the details in my Selenite review article:
    https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1047391-review-illegear-selenite-laptop-i7-8750h-rtx-2070/

Yes the adapter is adequate (considering it can also handle a full 2070N without any issues). Tongfang laptops don't have MUX switch, all of them have Optimus

I would go for 2070. 2080MQ is too expensive imo, and the performance is still behind a full 2080N even with turbo mode

thanks for the input. yes i did read your review on linustechtips and you stated that the 2080MQ scores 23k in firestrike graphics, which is pretty impressive given it's a max q and a 2080N 150W scores about 25-26k. however i didnt see you post any time spy and firestrike score for the 2070N model so i was wondering what's the score like.

i notice that tong fang resellers like illegear dont actually provide BIOS and EC firmware updates in their support page. i wonder where can you find and update the BIOS & EC for these systems.

I didn't get to test the 2070 model with 3dmark benchmarks (changed my testing method). Expect normal 2070 mobile performance due to lack of turbo feature

Talked to Illegear before about the lack of BIOS+EC updates. Already provided my feedback so let's see what will they do

Optimus is the switch between iGPU and dGPU in my understanding.
If the dGPU is used, the frame still has to pass the iGPU, but calculation is done on dGPU. If the dGPU is not needed (windows), the iGPU takes over the calculations

Laptops with a disabled iGPU and a real native dGPU are faster because they don't pass through the slower iGPU.

    hello

i recently got an Overpowered 17+ laptop which i installed a fresh windows 10 on it, problem is that deleted sound blaster connect, and i read the speakers suck without it (which they kinda do so far)
i tried going to the OP support page and downloading the realtek audio driver and the sound blaster driver from there, the realtek driver installs normally, but the sound blaster is a bit different
in the sound blaster zip i found two folders, one "Creative UWP Driver" with "CreativeAudioEffectsComponentInstaller_2.0.0.22.exe" in it which seems to install, but when i check the creative folder it creates in C:\Program Files (x86) that folder is empty, so im not sure if it actually installs
the other folder is called "EQ" with "SPKEQ_TF_PCAPP_US_1_00_17.exe" inside, which seems to do nothing

im not really sure what to try next, so any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

The support of Tongfang isn't very great. I have a standard laptop (no rebranding at all), but where do I get latests updates? Is it so hard in 2019 to put a website live and host this...
It seems impossible to get. My laptop is working fine, but I would like to change the SSD from an sata to an NVME but I'm scared to do at this stage.

I have a cloning kit in hands, but I think it only works with samsung SSD's, correct?

Yes, but it was unconventional. I had the original SSD (which was a 256gb) so I cloned it and put the image on the new SSD I had purchased (1 GB SSD) instead of doing a fresh Windows 10 install.
I am not sure if that will work for you but give it a shot. It was a learning experience. :)

i actually found a microsoft store link for it, it didn't work at first (gave a blank page) but after two days it magically started working, i don't really know how but im happy it did lol

    -------

anyone here can help me with updating my overpowred 17+ bios? currently im at bios 1.04
i tried going to overpowered support page and downloading the bios from there, inside of it i found those files https://i.imgur.com/vhDWt3N.png
i tried following what OWNorDisown did in his video at 6:50 ( ), but when i do that the window gives me a warning about rom layout being changed https://imgur.com/dVswHrH

i've never updated a bios before, so i don't know if that's normal or not, can anyone help with this?

Hi guys! Does anyone have any links to reviews of the Recoil 3 from Pcspecialist? I don't know which of the top laptops it is...I think:
    GK7CP6R

It has the 2070 rtx and a i7-9750H. Literally can't find anything on it and I won't buy a laptop without reading/watching reviews. It is between this and the MSI GE75.

Or if anyone could tell me what temps it runs, how loud it is, gaming performance v aother laptop and keyboard that would be great!

It is the GK7CP7S, I have that config (not rebranded). I’m running 80-85 degrees on both CPU and GPU (without throttlestop) and not making to much noise. If you want a silent device, go with the lenovo y740, otherwise the tongfang is great.
Performance of Tongfang is great, keyboard missing strokes from time to time (text writing).

Ah thanks! That's a good temp right? Does it also have a control centre like MSI where you ca control fan speed, do driver updates, etc?

Also when I buy it I want to add a second m.2 drive, do you know if that voids the warranty?

Good to hear about sound, i'm not massively bothered just dot want crazy high sounds!

Have you tested it on games like Far Cry 5, Tomb Raider, BF? What FPS do you get?

Far Cry 5 is running great. 90-100 FPS fluently.

    Scores of cinebench and Fitestrike.
    Tongfang GK7CP7S, i7-9750H, RTX2070, 16GB DDR4 2666MHz in dual channel (Kingstong HyperX CL15)
    Cinebench R15 --> CPU 1310, OpenGL 124,21fps
Firestrike: Score 18386, 21670 Graphics score, 16921 Physics score and 9163 combined score
The cinebench scores stays around 1300 inevery consecutive run, pretty neat.

I don’t use the machine very oftem. No further testing done...

I'm planning on buying my first gaming laptop in 13 years and am deciding between the Eluktronics MECH-17 or the Clevo PB71. I read this entire thread and the thread for that laptop, and at this point the main advantage of the PB71 I can see is G-Sync support. I don't care about Thunderbolt 3.

However, the one thing stopping me from ordering the MECH-17 is the screen. A question about motion blur / ghosting was brought up earlier in the thread:
But if you watch Dave game on the laptop, you can clearly see significant motion blur (skip ahead to 2:28):

Here's a review of the Walmart version of the laptop, which also shows significant motion blur (skip ahead to 14:00):

I've researched many gaming laptops, and none of them have screens with as bad motion blur as seen in those two videos. I'm surprised more people haven't complained about it because it seems very annoying for fast-paced content. Am I missing something here?

Mine doesn’t have tearing at all.
The new panels have 9ms response time instead of 30ms like they had in the past.

My clevo has an AUO panel (the same as the MSI G65) and this one looks the same in terms of quality. The Tongfang has even no light bleed, the clevo was very bad in that.

Also, I looked up the MSI G65 to compare to the Clevo panel, and I also see ghosting (skip to 3:52):

    It's not as bad, though.

Not with Far Cry 5, ghost Recon: Wildlands, COD or CS:Go.

Okay, I trust your opinions. Still, I'd like it if someone could report back with the panel model number for me so I can look up its specs.

One more thing: I am considering getting a cooling pad for the laptop because it seems like using one could bring the temperatures down even lower. Is this a good idea?

I have an Eluktronics MECH-17 G1R with the 9750H and the full 2070. The Panel model number is BOE07B6. For a detailed review of that exact panel, check this review: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Schen...7CP7S-Laptop-Review.414909.0.html#toc-display

I opted for the Liquid Ultra CPU and MasterGel GPU Thermal Compound upgrades, and have been happy with my temps. However, a cooling pad certainly wouldn't hurt anything.

    Open Device Manager
Double Click on your Monitor to open up Properties
Click the Details tab at the top
Select Hardware Ids in the drop-down menu
Your display model number will show in the Value window after MONITOR\

I found it with HW info, I have the same panel.

I have an OEM Tongfang (Not rebranded) with the 9750H and the full 2070. The Panel model number is also BOE07B6. For a detailed review of that exact panel, check this review: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Schen...7CP7S-Laptop-Review.414909.0.html#toc-display. I don't complain about the panel. It is bright (indoor), nice colors and very responsive.

Only thing I hate about the laptop is the lack of support, I have no clue where to fetch bios drivers for instance.
I don't use a cooling pad, but I use the laptop elevated, I have bought a cheap X-stand which doesn't restrict airflow beneath the laptop because it is completly open.
Temps are max low in the 80's for CPU and GPU for intensive games. My laptop has thermal pads on GPU and CPU.

I noticed you basically have the laptop I want (I'm going to be buying from PCSpecialist and it's called Recoil 3). How are you finding the laptop? How hot does it get when gaming (keyboard and the system)?

I'm trying to decide between this and the MSI GE75 which is crazy expensive but have heard the heating is great ad performance higher than other laptops with the same spec.

I've just go back from two continents sporting this laptop and it has been rock solid . This chassis is very optimal. The only one that I'm looking forward to is the unreleased MAG-17 from Eluktronics (the MAG-15 just go announced and reviewed on youtube).

When I plug in my headphone, sound still plays through speaker. When I check through control panel, I can only see speak in sound>playback and no headphone. Anyone know how to resolve this or had a similar issue? I have Mech 17 and installed their audio driver plus Sound Blaster. It wasn't there in the beginning but only recently (or I didn't noticed it before).

Does anyone know if their machine reaches C7/C8 sleep states? I have tried everything I could find but it does not go below C3 state resulting in lower battery backup while my Dell G7 and predator could easily reach there. Check Package C state
    [IMG]

There is a new 94whr battery that came in the revamped MAG 15 laptop that should fit into this chassis. One guy here has already bought it and I am waiting for his reply if it fits.

No issue here, Earlier the driver mine came with did not use the subwoofer at all. But in subsequent driver update it started working.
There is another realtek 2.82 driver that makes the speakers very loud but the con is that sub does not turn off even after you plugged in the earphone. You can try them and check if the issue gets fixed

Is it possible that someone with a Eluktronics MECH-17 (or MECH-15) with a GTX 1660 ti and 9750h post a copy of their original video card bios?

From what I can put together, some Elktronics laptops with 'Eluktroboost' lack the 80w power limit that all other 1660 ti notebooks have. I want to figure out if this is a change in the bios or if it uses some other way such as a laptop equivalent to a shunt mod to bypass this power limit.

You can read it to a .rom file bypressing the button to the right if the bios version readout on GPU-Z.

Edit: TongFang 1660 ti laptops with 'turbo mode' may also have this tdp bypass so those vbios would be helpful as well.

I have limited the CPU to 3.2GHz with a -100mV undervolt and locked the GPU at 1440MHz (max boost on paper) and the laptop is near silent :p. I love it. Far cry still runs around 100FPS with ultra settings.
It consumes around 30-35W on CPU and 80-85W on GPU. I had better choosen a RTX2060 or 1660Ti instead of RTX2070, anyone would like to swap :p.

Fan profile is at performance but as said near silent, the speakers are outperforming the fans with ease (eventhough those not so great speakers...).
Temp on CPU is around 70 degrees, GPU 65 degree celcius.

Kindly check with all owners, since there are many rebrands of the same tongfang GK7CP7S, example illegear selenite, aftershock apex 17, eluktronics mec 17 G1R, XMG Neo 17 etc, can the BIOS and EC firmware released by say Eluktronics Mec 17 G1R be flashed into illegear Selenite or any other rebrands as long as they are the same model?

The Eluktronics has the RTX boost, so maybe that one not.
    The rest should be interchangable.

so does it mean i can flash XMG NEO 17 BIOS and EC firmware into illegear Selenite? to be specific i'm referring to the 2070 model which has no boost whatsoever for every tongfang GK7CP7S chasis.

    I didn’t know.
I locked the RTX2070 @ 1440MHz, consuming 85W and the CPU @ 3200MHz. My laptop is silent and never over 70 degrees celcius :D.

@1440MHz, 2070 should consume around 115W unless u undervolt it. if that'sthe case you have a lot of thermal headroom to overclock higher!

I measured a peak of 105W and an average of 90W with the open beta of Ghost recon last weekend.
I have some thermal headroom and boost goes till 1900+MHz if you don't change anything. But I prefer silence over performance.
