but I mean, you have to admit, it is a little dissapointing to order a laptop in mid may.. when it says it will arive in mid june, and then have to possibily consider that it probably wont even come before august...

    You win the prize... :D

As you know what was happening is that when a pilot missed his landing he had to circle and approach again to land, and everyone else in the air had to wait to make their approach before they could land. Many were running out of gas and going back to base anyway, so the new policy increased total landings and saved the whole program.

Yep it saved a program that saved ~2 million West Berliners from starving/freezing to death and it could of started WW3 which would have been a blast ;)

I can just imagine how that would happen:

[Angus, Charlie and Bob (not appearing in this story) are all technicians in a reseller's shop.]

Angus: I was cleaning behind the fridge and look what I found!!!

Charlie: An IFL90?!? What was it doing there?

Angus: It's probably Bob... he always puts stuff on the fridge. And it aaaalways falls behind.

Charlie: Well, we better ship it.

Angus: Yeah... hmm... I know, let's ship it to vipergts2207!

    I've already waited 37 days. I'm hoping I don't have to wait another 30. :p
I wish when I was ordering they had the WXGA with the 512 mb video card. Only reason I picked the WSXGA screen...

So if Nytingale ordered it on July 6th, is he one of the lucky few who will get it shipped in mid-july? Just like the rest of us who ordered in June?

Just to give thewalrus something good to hold onto, remember that powernotebooks and xotic are the only ones offering the WXGA+, Sager isn't. So you're not too far behind whatever the line is, you just need them to show up.

    Just trying to help ;)

    You won't believe it!
After waiting for a month I canceled my order at my first reseller. This was because of bad (and in my opinion misleeding) communication.
Then I placed a new order last Monday at Alternate.nl and believe it or not, I got mine yesterday!!!
    But:
What I got was not what I ordered! I ordered an IFL90 with:
    - T7300 proc
    - 1GB Robson
    - TV tuner
    - 2GB Ram
    - 160 GB 7200 rpm harddisk
    - WSXGA+ (1680x1050)
    - etc.
    What I got was:
    - T7100 proc
    - No Robson
    - No tuner

Today I called Alternate and they were stunned. They don't even sell a machine in such a configuration! But they were great, I can use this one until they have a machine the way I ordered it

But now I still have to wait...

I guess getting an IFL-90 early has its price, in this case, you don't get what you quite wanted.

How's it gonna work out for you? Are they sending an IFL-90 with the specs over right now and you ship yours back?

None taken, no worries, kinda hard to actually take offense when you had no way of knowing and I mean... I am in a forum for things technical not exactly a place most would expect to find a gal in the first place!
And yeah that was my discovery too, alas. a month to wait. I shall have to find a new game to distract me till then.

well, the problem is i'm going to college on sep. 1st, so i need it at least a couple days before then to get it running/make sure it works. if it goes into august without a solid date on when it will be released, i will almost definitely need to do something to ensure that i will have some kind of laptop on sep 1st.

Are you going far? because trust me, it doesn't matter what school you go to, the only thing you need for about the first week of any given college semester... is yourself and maybe a pencil and paper, not even books as there is almost always a grace period. there will not be anything you'll actually need a computer for the first week except perhaps whatever fun distraction it can provide.
Besides, despite previous delays I don't think anyone is expecting it to slip into september... hopefully.

That is a pretty precise "gut" feeling :D

It will depend on when you order, what screen resolution and configuration you select, and where you are and what shipping method you choose. Give me a call so we can discuss your configuration and potential ship date.

    Waiting.. Not as much.

Im one of those people who always scale down to 1024x768, so native res wont be used often.

Even if you tell me it's betta!

    Cuz im ignant!

It is very wise to plan to have the laptop as ready as possible before classes begin. Even if the pedagogical load is not the heaviest during the first week of class, that's still not a time during which you want to be burdened with configuring your computer. For one thing, you most likely will have to spend time dealing with some administrative tasks during that time period. Then, whatever leisure time you will have you will want to spend on the social events that mark the start of the semester rather than on configuring a computer.

Regarding when classes "really" start, that can vary a lot from school to school, from department to department and from teacher to teacher so come prepared.

For me, going to med school, I don't really get a "grace" period. When they say classes start August 6th, they mean August 6th. So I would really like to have it by the end of July when I move to a different city....

As far as I know they'll try to get the one I ordered and in the mean time I can use this one. Not really a punishment ;-)

Hi guys, I got mine like 3 weeks ago, all black, fingerprint sensor, core2 duo, geforce 8800, 2gb ram and everything else like the Hel80, something new I like is the 5 touch-buttons (like i-pods) browser, mail, wow video, wow audio and mute, i feel the laptop case to be much harder, and it heats way lower than my previous Hel80, also theres 2 button to the left, one like usb and one like a plug cable, dunno what they are for, but will research later on, i ordered my notebook without vista, since i didnt like it very much, somehow they got it installed with an original home premium and this vista is clearly better than the one i tried with my hel80, not sure if its because of a better processor + gfx card. Greetings.
