Heres hoping powernotebooks.com will ship my 10:15 (wxga+) before August, because I think it will probably be a pain loading my OS and software in Iraq!

Is there any idea as to when the resellers will know more regarding the WXGA+ and WSXGA? Im sure the news will be all over this board when more info is available but it would be nice to know when to check back.

I BELIEVE (dont quote me on this) that Donald said that the end of July would be a better estimate for the other screen sizes like WSXGA+.

As far as when you will get yours? No, they all go out from Bizcom to Sager, Xoti c, Powernotebooks, etc once the shipment comes in. Since Sager sells for Sager, and PNB and Xotic also sell for Sager, the backlog may be worse for Sager, but I dont think in the end it will matter once the notebooks actually start showing up.

Opps, a typo (actually my hype for the real 8800 version :p), it's the 8600, sorry . By the way, if you are going to install a driver, my recommendation goes for 160.03 (from laptopvideo2go.com), I had the 165.xx version and I couldn't play Quake 4 for a week, until I tried to downgrade the driver (Vista x32 talking). Greetings ;)

Hate to be bearer of bad news but the WSXGA+ screens will most likely not be in this week. Maybe next week. Or the way that it is going... maybe next month or next year.

Very frustrating. I REALLY wanted mine by the 27 of this month but no dice. Just talked to my reseller and he told me to call next week to get an update. Not the resellers fault, purely this fiasco lies on Comapl's shoulders.

BTW, I've had mine ordered since June 4th.

    I hear ya Ohmide.

I almost pulled the plug on the whole thing a few days ago and ordered an Asus G1S. The only thing that is stopping me right now is that it is loaded with Vista and I have my Compal ordered with XP. Also, I have heard great things about the matte screen on the Compal.
No HDMI port on the compal either. Getting close to pulling the plug.

Honestly if they don't get in the WSXGA+ screens this week or if they tell me there is another two week delay on the screens, I'm most likely gonna just cancel the order and go to Bestbuy and pick up an Asus G1s. With my configuration, it costs about the same...I really need it by the end of July or first week of August by the latest...
Here is hoping for some good news! :D

Guys, the last official word I saw coming out of Donald (in his "press releases") was that the WSXGA+ laptops would ship at the end of July. I interpret that to mean next week at the earliest. I'm totally amazed that people are still hoping for shipment of those machines this week.

Well in the other thread the reps said that they won't be getting the WSXGA+ screens this week, which means that they won't be shipping next week, so they will ship the week after, which will put it into August. Plus, who knows if they'll get enough to cover all the shipments as I remember them saying most of the orders were for WSXGA+. I need mine for school and school starts 6th of August. Unfortunately I have to consider my options. :(

What was mentioned Lemur was that they thought they may see the WSXGA screens at their warehouse at the end of this week, and after assembly ship them next week. Im not gonna dig that thread up, the reason I am a little disheartened once again is that they send "end of the week" yet its Tuesday and they have already been informed and informed us that nothing is on the way. Heres to hoping when they get going on those screens, they really get going! :)

Tis true, it was announced that there was a problem procuring the WXGA screens, and Donald started asking if people would prefer the WXGA+ matte screens. I was told the WSXGA matte screens were expected to be the earliest arrivals, back when it was still looking like they might be here in early July. :-(

StoCom, thanks for setting me straight. I keep going back and forth between the Sager and Compal forums and ended up mixing up the deadlines. The Sager deadline was what I had in mind and is clearly later than what Donald gave for the PowerPros. Oops...

    I ordered a fully customized COMPAL IFL90 with WXGA+ on July 8th.

I've read most of this thread and it's making me very pessimistic. Does this mean I won't have my laptop by August 17th? I'd actually like to have it by at least August 1st.

If not, I will cancel my order because I cannot wait that long, I can't head off to college empty-handed. It'd also mean that I wasted a week+ of waiting for nothing.

So if I ordered a machine with a WSXGA+ (1680x1050) on the 15th, when might I expect it to arrive? I've seen a couple of numbers around so far, but they don't agree with one another...

Call your reseller. Only your reseller has any chance to know how many units they may get and where you fit in their waiting list.

I virtually gurantee that you will not have it by the 1st of August. I will not have mine by then and I have been on the waiting list since June 4th. I could have ordered a new car and had it in less time.

My reseller told me to call in the middle of next week to find out the status of the shipment. That would be the week of July 23rd., so a I plan on calling on the 25th or so. Keep in mind, he told me to call to check on the STATUS of their arrivals into their warehouse so they can build them and ship them out. I took that to mean that even they don't know IF they will even arrive next week.
As I have said before, it has now gotten to the point that Compal has fudged this up so bad that if delayed further I will pull the plug and buy an Asus G1S.

Also... This is in no way a dig against my reseller. In fact I have stuck with this order BECAUSE OF the reseller. If it was anyone else (Dell for example) I would have pulled the plug a month ago.
I am still bothered significantly by no HDMI port.

Yeah if they don't get the screen shipments next week, I might have to just cancel. Its been 6 weeks and if it is another two week delay, then that is just crap. I say Compal should refund us.

Or give a discount or free next day shipping (pay the resellers for it). It is getting ridiculous. I also did try and ask my reseller how many people were in line at their warehouse before me but I keep getting the "impossible" answer. I'm not saying the reseller is bad either I haven't had much of a problem at all with them it's the wait that's killing me. Glad it's not dell either.

Discounts are something you can bring up when you call to cancel. That's the last chance the reseller has to keep you as a customer.

Yeah they wouldn't tell me what spot in line I was either. I'm just hoping I'm far enough ahead that I will get a laptop out of the first shipment. Compal should definitely pay the resellers or give us some sort of compensation.

today i changed from a WXGA+ screen to a WXGA. i figure i don't normally go above 1280x1024 at the moment anyway, so that's not much lower. also, i don't think there will be a very big performance difference between the 512mb and 256mb video cards, and i saved $100.

if u ordered a sager, they cant really tell u what position u are in line cuz all the shipments are managed by sager in the end, and so the resellers cant tell what position u are in in sagers line.

i emailed sager about the wsxga+ screens, and i got a very fast, but also very terse, response saying it should be sometime in the next week or two...after waiting over a month already for this ifl90 model, another week or two is quite depressing :(

The question was to the reseller asking what place we are in their line, as in how many people have placed orders through them for the Sager.

Yeah, this computer is fairly new in the market, and the computer was announced at about the same time production for it started, I'm assuming. There's also long shipping delays because I guess Compal likes to send computers via sea or something.

What value would that information give anyone?

Please people, we are all at the edge of our patience but there is little value in worrying about what cannot be controlled.

We need to exhibit our frustration, but also our character with the ability to be patient and not constantly ask for information that, even if it was public information which it is not, would not give anyone knowledge that would be useful.

We all appreciate your patience, and the maturity that it exhibits. :)

Yes but if I read that there were two people in powernotebooks that placed orders for a laptop of mine, I would know that I would be in the first shipment of the laptops.
