If you order it, are you gonna review it too?
I know it will be pretty similar at some points, but I'd very interested in hearing about heat, battery life and if there is other differences between the models.
-
According to zepto.dk, this model will be announced very soon in white as:
The zepto mythos A14
-
That will be an really sexy piece of hardware!
-
It wont be much longer before we can get these here... Anyone interested in free shipping? Place an order online, PM with your info and ill have your "standard ground US shipping" credited back to you. -

-
at the frontpage press "start her" (just under the text "find den notebook der passer til dig") - it means ("find the notebook that fits you")
Then pick "spil og underholdning" (means games and entertainment).
After that, pick "god til allround"
Then you will see the mythos a14. Below the text says "på vej" which means "on the way" or "coming soon". -

ZeptoUSA...
What are the chances of the 9650M GT, or even better the 9800M in some form (probably GS) making it into an A14?
Considering the 9800M GS is now going to be available in a notebook as compact (thin) as the MSI GT627. -
Very doubtful.. at first they had a 15,4" with a 9800M GT planned, but it hasn't come yet and probably never will. My guess is because of heat issues.
-
It may be possible. I think you have to compromise somewhere when it comes to laptops... size, weight, power, heat etc.
Heat is a major issue for laptops. But there are things that can be done to the existing setup to allow for cooler temps and that could mean stepping things up to run a higher heat producing video card while maintaining the temps that youd see with the lesser card right from zeptos factory.
I think there will be enough demand for us to say at the very least get an A14, put the better card in it and test it ourselves. The problem is, if we decide to offer a card that isnt normally offered by Zepto then the cost goes up significantly. As it stands, the US market cares almost solely on how "how cheap can i get it for" despite superior design or customer service in many cases.. ie Dell.
If anyone is truly interested in something like this, let me know what you want and we can try to make something work in regards to price. -
And the 9650GT produces less heat because it's baked at 55nm
and the 9600GT is baked at 65nm... so imho it isn't very doubtful
@ ZeptoUSA: Send me an A14 with a 9650M GT and I will review it! =) -
they answer 1 out of 10 mails, no way they answer by phone (italy), just a little box telling few things about my order and moreover horrible delay despite the "15 days delivery" when i ordered it.. -
Yes there are 15" laptops with 98XX GPU's inside them, but they are very thick, i personally don't view them as "laptops", weighing over 3,5 kilos..
-
-
Sure you paying for the unit AND Shipping/Duties? lol -
You are in a forum, answering. They do not even answer by phone.. -
-
The Zepto support has been better, but after ordering the new line they've been bombed with orders and when the early Nox machines had problems with drivers or in some cases defect hardware, they just lost it imo.
I've sent them two mails within the last 2 months and I've heard nothing from them, and I hear they dont answer phonecalls? That's pretty weak, but they're working as fast as they can, I'd assume.
As for the other laptops with a 9800M GT, Thorne pretty much said it. -
ZeptoUSA...
I would definitely be interested in the 9800m GS in an A14, if it is a viable prospect. I don't know if it will help at all, but the 9800m GS is built on 55 nm like the 9650m GT, whereas the 9600m GT is 65 nm. Unfortunately I know that the 9800 does a whole lot more processing on the smaller architecture, and could therefore produce more heat.
If you guys are willing to do the testing, I'd definitely be one of the willing buyers if you offer it up at a reasonable price. And by reasonable, I hope you understand that I don't mean cheap. But if it could be had at a price comparable to say a fairly similarly spec'd Sager NP8660/Clevo M860TU, you'd have yourself one very happy customer.
And even if the 9800m GS won't work in the A14 chassis, I'd still be interested to see the 9650m GT as an upgrade option from the standard 9600m GT. I've been debating between the NOX A14, NOX A15, MSI 1651 and the Sager NP8660 for weeks now. Each has their strong points. In my opinion an A15 sporting the 9800GS would be a better choice for me than either the MSI or Sager, and an A14 with said gpu would be absolutely outstanding.
And since I have already been this longwinded, I will add a positive comment regarding service from Zepto USA. I emailed them with questions when the A14 first showed up on their site and they got back to me via email the very same day. I haven't purchased anything from them yet, but that quick response did offer me a greater degree of comfort in considering a company I hadn't even thought about in the past. -
i cant call zepto.dk cause of my english. Ok it isn't that bad, but i prefer writing since i can take my time and maybe search for words i do not know.
The problem is that the distributor sends only automatic email regarding the order like:"order accepted" or "payment accepted", that's all.
It is 3 times I ask about my order via mail to zepto.dk and play.srl and i did not receive any answer. Delivery was planned for 3rd november. No words about the delay and I found out I got the rma just for a case, since none alerted me where to check my order progress.
This is bad, sadly bad.
Moreover, and I dunno why, the delivery will be not direct. I payed for 1day delivery, since I knew about long times taken by zepto, but did not know that the package will be not send to me from dk but to san marino, where the italian distributor is located, that will forward it to me. So i figure out, they will not use 1day delivery from denmark and i will have to wait a bit more. -

CLB-NL
Okay, I have something in the works. I still do not know $$$ or time frame. I may not know for a few business days. Is this acceptable? -
-
-
I haven't got any money now...
I also can order with Zepto NL but I want to buy so much...
Winterholidays, headset, schoolbooks and so on, and so on -
Ill get things together on my end and let you know how much, up to you as when you can do it. -
YeahYeah I've been in America the last summerholidays for a trip,
and I've spend there thousands of dollars, so don't blame me muhaha -
ZeptoUsa,
I also am very interested in the A14 with a 9650m GT. If you decide to offer it let me know. I am definitely willing to pay for the extra video card power! -
First they have to test it
Zepto NL is also gonna test an A14 with the 9650M GT GPU...
Maybe I can test it personally, but we will see... EX-CI-TING! -
-
Such powerfull hardware in a such a little case. Heat problems?
-
a 9650 is less "hot" than a 9600.. some for class "p" processors..
-
-
Excellent news ZeptoUSA. So with a reduction in heat, does that mean they might even consider testing the 55nm 9800m GS to see how it does heat wise compared to the original 9600m GT?
No one could touch a NOX A14 with a 9800m GS at any price when you look at the combination of style, portability and performance you might be able to offer.
And I assume Zepto is only using/testing GDDR3 units, correct? -
A 9600/9650 and a 9800 haven't got the same size / slot, so that's not possible!
-
Its going to be a 9650gt, not a 9800. The video card will be DDR3, yes.
-
anyone got any close up pics of the laptop? someone here I think said they had it. Would be great to see soem closups; trying to compare the design and build to the clevo m8650
thanks for the help -
It isn't delivered anywhere in the world yet =s
And here you can find reallife pictures of the A15's:

I know this may not be the place to ask this...
But what is the difference between the 9800m GS and the 9650m GT that makes one viable for use and the other unusable. I tried doing some google searching and couldn't come up with anything concrete. Where can I find information about this "slot" you refer to CLB-NL? If anyone has a good link to take a look at (no matter how technical) I would be glad to go take a look.
And I actually need something more than one is a G96 and one is a G94 or that one is NB9P and the other is NB9E. If that is the answer, I would love to hear a deeper explanation. That information can be found easily. Deciphering exactly what each of those things means is not as easy a task.
I ask because I want to be a better informed consumer. Especially if I am going to be the type of consumer asking laptop manufacturers to do something out of the ordinary for me.
Oh, and to keep it somewhat on topic. Even outfitted with a 9650m GT (GDDR3) the NOX A14 will be one incredible little notebook. -
Just search for MXM, that's the kind of GPU-slot
You have different ones: MXM II / MXM III and so on...
(and you can check www.mxm-upgrade.com to check which laptops has got which slots)
And for comparison between GPU's you can check:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html -
Thanks CLB-NL, It looks like I was on the right track when I was looking into MXM. However I am still having a hard time finding out exactly which cards are built on which module. By your post, I assume that the NOX uses MXM-II as do the 9600m GT and 9650m GT. However the 9800m GS uses MXM-III.
If this is the case, can you or anyone else point me in the direction of a resource that could list which MXM standard each graphics card uses? Judging by the stuff I saw on mxm-upgrade.com, the manufacturers of both laptops and video cards do their best to keep this information our of the public eye. -
thanks for the links CLB-NL.

Your Welcome

Looks like i will be taking pre orders for a very high end pre-optioned Nox a14 for black friday with 9650's... but i mean fully optioned out unit
with a really really nice discount coupon available..
I wanted to have the units here and ready to go, but i believe Zeptos supply of 9650gt's arent going to be as high as I would have liked.. -
ZeptoUSA, I may be interested. However, I would like you to PM me whatever details you may have on the deal. (Specs, pricing, delivery timeframe.) I don't mind splurging a bit from what I was planning to spend, but a fully option NOX A14 with just the 9600m GT will run $4600+ before a "really really nice discount coupon." And that is just too rich for my blood.
-
whats the difference in weight between the 14.1 and 15.4 versions?
-
NOX A14 = 2.4 kg (5.5 lbs)
NOX A15 = 2.8 kg (6.1 lbs)
At least that is the information I have been able to gather. Still don't know that I have seen final dimensions on the A14. -
ZeptoUSA,
I would also maybe interested in the pre-optioned deal. But would want to get specs regarding the configuration and the PC as well.
Is the dimensions going to be the same? The user manuals on the global site show the same specs for the A14 as the A15. Only difference is it comes with the smaller LCD.
