What do you think yourself...
Zepto itself hasn't seen many A14's for themselves..
so thay haven't made a datasheet with final specs yet!
@ ZeptoUSA: And there aren't drivers for the 9650M GT yet...
Zepto NL has got some Mythos laptops with that GPU but haven't got good drivers... Even on nVidia.com there aren't 9650M GT drivers and also on laptopvideo2.go which always have tweaked drivers there aren't...
-
ftp://ftp.zepto.com/Notebooks/Mythos_A15/Drivers/Vista/64bit/02_Graphicscard/ here are for vista 64 bit version added on 5 nov.
edit: and here
ftp://ftp.zepto.com/Notebooks/Mythos_A15/Drivers/Vista/32bit/02_Graphicscard/
vista 32 bit -
Yeah I know but that are 9600M GT drivers,
so the scores with the 9650M GT aren't that high and comparible..
Thanks anyway! -
the 9650 GT is an overclocked 9600 GT but got a 55 nm process instead of a 65 nm. (this decrease the energy consumption and the overheating)
-
That's also something I allready knew
So it is different and it doesn't work properly with 9600M GT based drivers
-
Final config specs arent available. We may not offer this with the Solid State Drives to keep pricing out of the 4500.00 range.
In regards to the drivers and such, this is another reason why I am taking pre orders and will have this coupon available through black friday.
I will keep everyone posted who wants information. -
i still don't get it why..
drivers are all the same, the same drivers work for the 8800 etc.. if u improve drivers all video cards will take advantage of it. The driver is just an interface for the operative system, and i guess all video cards (by nvidia) of the same serie use the same commands.
By the way, I hope they will improve them as much as they can since I'll touch my gef. 9650 in the mythos in few days. -
Do that... For $4500,- I can buy a massive Alienware
Me
So a 8800GTX driver is the same as the 9600M GT driver... Don't think so..
Why do you think a site like www.laptopvideo2go.com uses 'modded inf' files?
Whatabout the 3D mark Scores:
With my 8600M GT 512MB DDR2 I've got 3669 points with the 179.13 driver
With the 9600M GT 512MB DDR3 I've got 5520 points with the 179.13 driver
So I've gotten more points in reallife than Zepto says the cards will get
The tests were run @ 1280x800 and their benchmarks? I don't know
Than we will check it at: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html
The 8600M GT ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-8600M-GT.3986.0.html) is on place # 54 with 3347 points in 3D Mark '06
Core Speed * 475 MHz
Shader Speed * 950 MHz
Memory Speed * 400 MHz
The 9600M GT ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9600M-GT.9449.0.html) is on place # 38 with 5095 points in 3D Mark '06
Core Speed * 500 MHz
Shader Speed * 1250 MHz
Memory Speed * 800 MHz
That's an increase of 1748 points in comparison with the 8600M GT
or an increase of 52,21% in comparison with the 8600M GT
The 9650M GT ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9650M-GT.10764.0.html) is on place 31 with 5407 points in 3D Mark '06
Core Speed * 550 MHz
Shader Speed * 1325 MHz
Memory Speed * 800 MHz
That's an increase of 312 points in comparison with the 9600M GT
or an increase of 6,12% in comparison with the 9600M GT
My point: A 9650M GT in a laptop with the same hardware as the laptop with the 9600M GT can't score less points with the same driver
Let's say the 9650M GT only scores 5% more than a 9600MGT, it has to score over 6000 points in 3D Mark '06 on the 1280x800 resolution!!
(based on my own benchmarks)
And if I read this:
According to Zepto (first manufacturer who announced the card) the 9650M GT should be up to 20% faster than a 9600M GT.
it has to get the 6100 points (5095 x 1,20) (based on NoteBookCheck)
it has to get the 6600 points (5500 x 1,20) (based on my own benchmarks)
Weird that a benchmark on NoteBookCheck only shows an increase of 6,12%... -
yes
do you have ever read an inf file of your video card? do it.
the use of modded inf files (I used them as well), is cause a driver can be used for a video card but is not tested for it. So they don't release that driver as compatible, even tho it is. So laptop2go just add into the info file a line with an other model, and the operative system is not locked installing it.
Regarding benchmarks:
you don't know what processor has been used, which ram and how many ram, you even don't know which operative system and a lot of things more. (talking about zepto benchs)
maybe they used beta new drivers that better use clock and vram. Maybe cause driver is still not caring about 55 nm. But when this will come out, I'm sure all NEW video cards, such as 9600 9650 and so on will take an advantage from it. -
If you want to pay for a Name... The customer service must make up for the $$$$... wait...
The a14 will be much less 4500...
-
So... Why haven't they put the 9650M GT's in the lines...
Zepto is stupid and use a T2300, with 256MB RAM and Windows 3.11
I reviewed serveral Zepto's and which kind of hardware did they sent?
The best of the best of the best, that maybe 1 sick hardwaren00b will buy
Bringing out a videocard, the 9650M GT, without good drivers is weird imho...
This is not really Zepto related but nVidia offcourse
-
Ofcourse I have no more answers, maybe they did not test it at all.. just nvidia told them about that 20% faster in a determined conditions, or maybe they just read it somewhere else (lol).
-
ZeptoUSA... as I stated before, mark me down as interested, pending specs and pricing. And I hope your "much less than 4,500" is in line with my much less than 4,500.
I don't know what others are thinking, but I was thinking along the lines of about half that with an OS installed. (I would gladly give up Blue-Ray if you were considering making that part of the spec.)
And I know you have to configure a pre-built with enough decent spec components to increase margins to make it worth your while. I just hope you don't over spec it so much that it puts it beyond the reach of customers you are trying to target.
Also, is there anything we can do as comsumers to get Zepto to consider making the 9650m GT a standard upgrade option similar to what they are starting to do with the A15? Or is this simply a function driven by unit cost (margins) and the notebook market as whole?
Also, how will the pre-order deal for black friday work? When will it begin? Will it require full purchase price be sent, a deposit, or just signing up on a list? -
Be vocal... email them directly, email the Zepto distributor in your country/region. And to answer your question, yes and no. I think you could argue that either way.
I do not have a complete answer for you yet. It will begin as soon as we have nailed down a specific config and pricing. Which should be in the next few business days.
I dont think that we have decided, most like billing information will be needed and charged in full. This is NOT set in stone yet. -
Let the emails commence!
-
This is sooo the laptop I want to get.
-
rton20s, thanks. Any chance that the 5.5lb weight for the 14inch includes the battery?
-
Yes it does
-
almost have the info finalized.
-
Dave (ZeptoUSA), post up as soon as you have the spec. Will you have pricing when the spec is released? Here's to Zepto and a killer Black Friday deal on an incredible notebook!
-
I'm interested as well. Thanks!
-
I think it will get posted this weekend.
-
Cant wait ^^
-
It's friday, it's friday... But ZeptoUSA is still sleeping I think =)
And I've got a Zepto mail with 'The Worlds Wildest Machine'
An A14 with 8GB RAM but still a 9600M GT... =) -
I am awake.. but let me tell you. I wish I was sleeping
Im hoping our new site will be up and running today so i can post everything. It looks like there may be a longer than expected delay on getting the A14's however. I believe someone may have underestimated the demand for them. I do however have hope that they work something out
-
ZeptoUSA:
I am also very interested in this notebook. It looks like one of, if not the only 14" that offers this kind of GPU along with OS flexibility, 7200 RPM HDD, etc.
Along the lines of OS support, will there be a centralized "support" or "drivers" section of your website? Or am I just missing it? Do you perceive Windows XP, 32 or 64-bit compatibility to be an issue, seeing as how you only offer Vista installs? Will future driver updates be handled directly from zeptousa.com?
Also, I may have missed it, but is the display LED or cathode backlit?
I apologize if the questions sound too forward or are the result of my lack of research. I am interested in this notebook and am glad there is a manufacturer that doesn't immediately associate "performance" with "massive footprint". -
the drivers are located at ftp.zepto.com
What I know why they only offer Vista was some compatibility problem with the Merom processors (T9xxx) and that they havent tested XP on the laptops. -
I'm sorry, an FTP?
I know Zepto is relatively new to the game, but that's just not acceptable. While it's true that most people who would buy an A14 know their way around an FTP, many do not. Further, if Zepto really wants to compete with the big boys than a better system needs to be implemented. -
Well I dont see what the problem is with ftps
You just click on notebooks and then your model and then what driver you need.
Most users just use the driver CD that comes with the laptop anyway -
Right, for people like you and I who know how to manually install drivers and access FTPs this isn't really a problem. But many people don't know how to do that. Although, granted, these same people are most likely just going to order the machine with Windows pre-installed.
You mention a driver CD. So have previous Zepto machines come with driver CDs? I'm having trouble finding this info on the Zepto USA website. It seems a little sparse in this area.
Again, I have no problem with a driver CD either. The motherboard of my current desktop has a nice setup where you pop the CD in, check which drivers and utilities you want to install and it goes to town, restarting and continuing the install process automatically until finished.
Again, not being too antagonistic here but in a market that is already crowded it is little things that Zepto can do that will differentiate itself from competitors. From this thread alone we can see that they already have their ear to the ground and listen to the wants of consumers, which is a great start. -
I got a driver CD with my 6625 a year ago and I doubt they have removed it
-
Cool, I'm glad to hear that.
-
ok ok.. new website isnt up. I will try to get something going today.
-
What is going on with the special Black Friday deal, ZeptoUSA. Any updates?
-
Almost no update. Issues with the website and supply issues are killing me here.
Lemme see if I can get an update. -
Okay...
They should be up. -
SO... if I get the black friday 9650gt deal without the OS are there drivers for this system out for windows XP? I would like to install it if possible and I have an extra copy of the os lying around.
-
Yes. Zepto International has the XP drivers posted now.
ftp://ftp.zepto.dk/Notebooks/Nox_A14/Drivers/XP/ -
Man, those really are some good deals. And as much as I'd love to jump on one, I just can't. None of the configurations are close enough to what I really want to push my purchasing schedule up and stretch my finances to make it happen right now. Probably gonna have to spend a few bucks more later to get what I really want, but I'll be in a better position to afford it.
Either way, I really appreciate what Zepto USA is trying to do for their customers here! -
message me what you are looking for and ill check into it atleast.
-
So I have to pay $2600,- or 2000,- euro for a uberconfig...
That's just a little less than what I have to pay in The Netherlands (2100,- euro)
So I'm not in for this deal =) (shippingcosts are still excluded)
Keep up the good work!
EDIT: And I don't want a 5400rpm'er as well, but I want 7200rpm (and 4GB is more than enough pour moi) -
email me at [email protected]
-
Thanks =)
But I have connections with Zepto NL, so don't need that
-
BOOO!!!
-
Why should I buy a laptop from the USA which cost me the same...
When I live in the Netherland where I have the connections and so on...
Not even speak about warranty and that kind of important issues!! -
what? ZeptoUSA didnt even say anything.
-
I just wanted to know why I should buy a laptop from the USA
when I also can buy it here in my own country, that's it =) -
Other than having to ship the unit to us for any issues you may have... have you seen any of the other Zepto's with this kind of customer service?
-
Seriously?
Thursday was a national holiday, and we are closed again today. I could be like all the other guys and ignore customers when we arent open
-
Well there are different consumer rights in US than in Europe. So it would be stupid to buy a device that is available at same price and better service at the local dealer.
And then we should ship the device to US for servicing, and you would then send it to Denmark, and they would send it back to the US and then you would send it back to Europe... Now if that aint redundant i dont know what is.
And if we buy from outside a EU country there would be further taxing on the laptop. So i really cant see any gains in trying to get EU citizens to buy a laptop from the US. The only way this would happen if there was no dealers in EU.
