The Zepto Nox A14

ZeptoUSA, would it be possible to get a replacement hinge? I'm assuming it would be quicker from you rather than Zepto, from what I've heard support isn't the fastest. Email me luke.barker(at)blueyonder.co.uk

Shoot me an email or PM when you figure out what the new special is going to be. I should be getting that tax money within a few weeks. As long as no one else releases something grounbreaking between now and then, the A14 is tops on my notebook list.

By the way, the site update is looking good. Nice to see the 9650m GT as a standard option on the site.

So i finally got my nox a14 and i have to say it looks very very good. Got a nice white keyboard with it so it looks unique, same as my 6214 because that one also had a white keyboard with black housing. Although it is very nice, im gonna try to sell it because i want to switch to a macbook. (any dutchies interested can contact me )

 

If you don't mind, can you tell us why do you prefer a macbook over the Zepto Nox A14 ??

 

Doesnt have much to do with the zepto, just that i want a macbook instead of a windows laptop. And now i got this brand new laptop it seemed like a good time to sell it

OMG clb hacked my puter .

J/k I made these pictures for my auction. I like the white alot, was used to it with my old one. And yes, it was put in because the black ones were out of stock. They said it could take a few weeks before they would get new ones (good luck to the ppl that are waiting).

I haven't done much on it, but from what I've seen it's very nice. The little image/message you see when you use a hot button or activate the wifi is really nice. Just to bad they didn't put vista home premium on it instead of home basic but well, i can't complain because the home basic was free

Was wondering what is the availability on the 9650GT? Still hard to come by? Should I just get a 9600GT if I need the laptop now?

Also, on the zeptousa.com site (which redirects to dennedusa.com), is it ready to order on it? The driver link doesn't seem to be working and it only allows paypal. Is paypal the only way I can pay?

One more thing, is ground shipping really free? That's what it shows when checking out. Pretty cool.

Yeah the driver link is bad, if anyone is in need of drivers ASAP head over to the international site and you can get them there.

I gave up on zepto. I've been waiting for the B series since october and this is ridiculous so I ordered a 13'' from LG instead.

Well, that is right. (Though they have the 13'' with 9600M GT, same as some Nox A14 have) But also much cheaper. I decided I wanted battery life instead of a dedicated gaming machine. It might actually be an advantage to my grades... =p

Yeah, almost ultraportable. :] Still I wish I could buy a Zepto bag... They are so nice but it isn't really fair to carry my lg in one. Anyhow, good luck to anyone choosing zepto!

 

I wouldn't say lower specs really if you go for the 9600. I would have bought the p310 if there was a retailer in UK and I hadn't got such a nice deal for my Nox (~£900)

Yes, I was fondling a friends Nox the other day and it has a great quality feeling. Not like the thinkpads but it still feels solid and durable.

I may be wrong but it doesnt look like a 14 inch laptop. it looks like a 15 inch laptop with a 14 inch screen.

 

Actually I would have gone for the Nox with 1280x800 if available. A few things are just too small to read/view at native 1680x1050 and also, if you prefer native resolution, games run just that much smoother at 1280x800

We updated the website with the new Intel CPU's. To celebrate we have a special on the A14.

 

I just realized a really good thing with Zepto. At least from what I have seen they refrain from putting a load of stickers on their laptops. I had to remove 5 (FIVE?!?!) stickers from my palm rest. And it was not easy. (Thinner and paper to remove the glue)

 

we hate stickers...

A question, between 9 cell and 6 cell battery do they differ in footprint beyond the weight? For example, does the 9 cell protrude from the chasis? I've been looking at the Nox A14 since hearing of it, though wonder if I waited too long. Would be nice to have in time for Spring Break.

I know that this would void the warranty, but how upgradeable is the GPU in the NOX A14 ?? Would I be able to upgrade it with some of the new GPU's that are coming out or our already such as the ATI Mobility 3870 and the upcoming ATI Moility HD4860 ??? Thanks for any info. God Bless

 

The Nox has a MXM-II GPU slot. I believe those cards are MXM-III?

 

You would probably not be able to upgrade the GPU, and even less be able to switch from nVIDIA to ATI.

afaik the GPU is stuck on the motherboard (atleast on my 6224W, but note that the case of 6224W is from invetec and the case of NOX is from another manufac.).

 

The Nox does not have intergrated graphics. See my above post.
