By the way, i wonder if anyone else is having this issue:

Laptop randomly wakes up when lid is closed.

i checked what is waking it up, and see it as "ACPI event" whatever that means, i have no clue whatsoever.
Laptop always loses all battery charge when i close the lid and leave it alone for 1-2 days.

when lid is closed, it's supposed to go to sleep, which it does. but for some unknown reason it randomly wakes up, EVERY FREAKING TIME. doesn't matter on battery or plugged in, the darn thing wakes up from sleep by itself with the lid closed.

On the stock unit, while gaming the temps were reaching above 90 degrees, and that was just plain hurting to see.

So here are a couple of things I did, with the help from the feedback of this forum:

    • The Biwin SSD was always above 60 degrees, so replaced it with Samsung Evo. (kept it as a secondary drive for some time but the temps didn't falll even after being the secondary drive. So got it out for good)
    • Got an additional laptop cooler - This dropped my temps while gaming by about 5-8 degrees.
    • ThrottleStop - even undervolting didn't drop my temps much, but disabling the Turbo brought the temps in early 70's
So now gaming doesn't hurt much.

Don't ask why I game on a laptop.... it's only for Call of Duty : Warzone... gaming online with family. #grounded

Thanks, that is my current plan- we can't swap the biwin to the second slot. I think I'll try a clone first, but I'm fine with a complete reinstall if needed, I've got all the drivers backed up (and I'll have the biwin as well).

Do you know if the sleep level issues are fixed if we change boot to the second m2 slot and leave the biwin?

Yes!! Same here. Hoping replacing the hd tomorrow works :D

I was thinking it was my mouse, but I made sure that was off, and that the laptop was also sleeping before I walked away.

    Warm in the morning!!

Anyone know if there is a control center app, maybe from one of the other resellers, that allows you to change individual key colors? I had that on the Overpowered LP2 I bought last year and miss it on this one.
    Thanks!

The one from Eluktronics should and I believe the one from Monster does, too. AFAIK they are the same Control Center software, just have different branding and icons.

Thank you Mr. Fox. I am not familiar with the Monster version, which reseller are they? The Eluktronics version is the G2, correct? Also, have you ever stumbled across a bios update from any of them?

Anyone know if you can charge or do video out over the usb-c port? Was considering a usb-c dock if it's possible. If not my lazy ass will have to plug/unplug 3-4 cables to dock/un-dock

I grabbed one off VIPOutlet, unfortunately the touchpad is defective. The movement is inverted, choppy, and non-responsive. My only option is to return for a refund and possibly rebuy it for ~$100 more.

Does anyone know the touchpad part number, where to get it, and if it is easily replaceable? I am debating doing this if it makes sense.

No, at least not in terms of the GPU, as the GTX 1660Ti is a downgrade from RTX 2060. The 2060 is about 10-15% faster and has DLSS and ray tracing.

I don't know if this has been answered or not, but does anyone know the replacement part number for the motherboard? I have the 1650 model, and I wanted to see if I can get the mothrboard with the 1660 ti on it. I'm sure it'd just be easier to pay extra and exchange, but long story short, I don't have that luxury. I've looked everywhere for the part number, but I can't find it. Thanks guys, much appreciated!

@hodgeMN, were you using Throttlestop or XTU, and did you mess with your TPL settings at all?

Hi Bro. Check your activation status. If you see that it is activated with a digital license linked to your Micro$lop account you will not need a product key. Just do a clean install and skip entering a key. When you log in to the new Windows installation using your Micro$lop account it will activate on its own.

You're welcome. I use Macrium Reflect to create an image and use that to preserve everything. I have never done a W10 reset. This video might be helpful.

    just a quick update fellas:

8 months of use (i bought it in december 2019):

    -no major issues

    only minor issue:

laptop still does not go to sleep too well. everytime i close the lid at 100% battery and check in the morning = battery is dead. i'm using a larger 62whr battery. i notice laptop fans ramp up when sleeping.

only way to remedy this is to manually shutdown the laptop every time. closing lid to make it sleep is useless as it continues to drain battery.

i only use laptop at home or on hotels where i know i'll have external power source. The laptop is a big fail for portability due to battery draining while in sleep mode.

    Keyboard still works perfectly fine.

Cpu and gpu are both undervolted and repasted, temps hover around 80~85 while in intense gaming sessions. Fans are dumb loud no matter what mode, but then again i have yet to see a thin gaming laptop that has quiet fans. Even a $2500 razer blade has annoyingly loud fans.

Would i recommend this? not for beginners, just go with a major brand if you want a good out of the box experience. The evoo laptop is cheap for all intents and purposes, but the out of the box experience is not that good.

I was able to significantly cut down the fan noise (on Windows 10) by using ThrottleStop (a free program) to disable hyper threading (or on second thought, it might have been speedstep....it was a while ago, so not 100% sure...but it is very obvious when you do it)... Granted it might affect performance on really intensive programs/games, but easy enough to switch back and forth via ThrottleStep profiles. Nice thing about 6 cores is no matter what you disable, this thing is still (overall) a beast performance-wise). Throttlestop fix might even help your battery drain issues during sleep, but that is just a guess/wishful thinking.

Also worth mentioning is that MacOSX (hackintosh) also runs very quiet without any need to tweak or run throttlestop (though I am referring to just normal use, not intensive use, since I have not run much on OSX yet). Of course, MacOSX does not use dedicated graphics, just Intel stuff, so that certainly would affect fan noise as the heatsink is merged between CPU and dedicated GPU. BTW, Hackintoshing this laptop is VERY easy but requires about a $30 investment since you need a different Wifi/bluetooth card. If you go that route I recommend a dual boot windows/MacOSX (on separate internal drives to make backups, etc, cleaner) so you get the best of both worlds. A second drive is not required but it is worth the investment since there is room/ports for a 2nd NCME drive or a SSD (FYI; ssd cannot be installed if you have installed the larger capacity battery).

In addition, removing existing thermal paste and re-applying has been show to frop temp by 5 to 10 degrees Celsius...without a performance impact...though that assumes the initial application was flawed at factory, and disassembly us not fir the faint of heart.

One last thought: If desired you can unlock the bios on this laptop... but really only necessary if you have the expertise to make use of the (HUGE amount of) unlocked bios settings. Not the simplist thing to do but it can be done.

i'm already using throttlestop to achieve undervolt of cpu and afterburner for undervolting gpu.

Just bought this laptop and no audio comes out of the headphone jack. The speakers are still activated on the laptop and will play audio fine (both with and without headphones being connected). I've reset the computer 2 times already and installed the RealTek and THX drivers that been linked on here a few times. I've also made sure the headphones were set as a default audio device. Is this a problem anyone else has had? I believe the audio jack might be faulty and want to make sure that's the case before I return the laptop.

    Hello,
I was trying to set this up to be able to easily use an external keyboard, mouse and monitor. The issue I am having is I wanted to power on or wake from sleep without having to open the lid to get to the power button. I can't find any power management settings in the BIOS. Anyone else come across a solution for this?

I am not sure what setting you were looking for in bios to set this up… But if you can tell me what to look for I can look in my (unlocked bios) and tell you if I see that option.

Also, I could also test it for you if you give me some basic instruction...however, I don’t have time right now to do anything too complicated… But if it’s simple I’d be more than happy to adjust a bios setting or two and try it....just so you know if unlocking your bios would help.

Thank you. It would probably be under Power Management and then wake on USB or power on with mouse or keyboard. I did not know there was an unlocked Bios. Where did you find that at if you don't mind me asking. I had not found any alternate bios.
    Thanks again.

I think this is in the regular bios as well but since I don’t have the regular bios installed so I couldn’t say for sure… But under “advanced” there is a “wake from sleep with USB devices”

under the “advanced 2” menu there are a slew of power options and sub menus but I didn’t see one labeled as you described… But there’s all awful lot in there.

To request to get your bios unlocked take a look at my posts (TheRiddick) in this forum:
    https://www.win-raid.com/t4386f16-O...-Unlocked-BIOS-Guide-W-Files-9.html#msg101590

IMPORTANT: Make sure to dump (and keep a backup copy on another computer) of your original bios and then ask user Lost_N_Bios to make you an unlocked version... DO NOT just download the one that was unlocked for me (or anyone else) or you will lose some laptop specific identifiers.
(Lost_N_Bios may have created a generic unlocker for this EVOO mainboard since he unlocked mine many months ago, but I am not sure... always best to ask...and always best to back up your firmware before trying anything).

Post back here if you find a solution to the issue, I am sure others would find it useful.

Hi all, I'm aware this is an old thread but I only recently got my Evoo lp5 after buying it more than a year ago.
I am having an issue with the laptop booting with my newly installed Western digital sn730 nvme ssd. When it is installed in any of the two slots, the system stalls at the company logo. I can't even get into the bios or boot options with it installed! When it's removed and I replace it with another ssd (Samsung pm981), in either slot, everything works as normal.
The system booted twice with both ssd's installed, but every other time it always stalls at the logo screen. Is this ssd blacklisted by evoo? Do I need to remove the factory keys and secure boot for it to work? Or is it a motherboard issue? Help please
