No, it does not, but I have heard the mechanicals are prone for issues (and are loud).

Anyone have a bios update for this machine?
Just want to make sure I'm on latest (or best) and I dont see ANYTHING about bios.... -
Is it possible to fix the low power state issue by moving the operating system to another drive or do I have to remove the original?

One of the reasons that they are selling the EVOO brand so inexpensively is probably because it is an exclusive brand of Walmart… Not to mention it is a partnership with THX.... Therefore, it is it good chance that the laptop price is being subsidized (to some extent) through this partnership in order to gain a foothold in the high-end gaming laptop market… Once the brand has proven itself, gamers will pay good money for premium laptops.
That being said, I think the price of this brand will increase overall in the next year or two as new models come out and as the brand becomes better known, provided of course, that gamers are happy with the quality and performance of the laptops and they get good reviews.
Even so, being a Walmart exclusive, the price will always be competitive with other gaming laptops but I think the current prices are more competitive than you would normally see even from Walmart. Furthermore, Walmart pushes it suppliers to razor thin margins, but the suppliers often make it up due to the incredible volume that they can sell through Walmart.
The combination of the THX partnership, being a Walmart house brand (or at least an exclusive) , and being a totally new brand altogether, explain why we are seeing such deep discounts. -
For unlocking help you can look at the Win-Raid forums. -

I just purchased this from Walmart during the sale. Everything seems great on it so far except for the battery life which I expected. I am having one issue with the trackpad, however, fairly often when I go to click somewhere on the screen the pointer will jump to the taskbar and I end up opening another program. I heard rumors of the trackpad not being very accurate but so far nowhere else has mentioned the pointer jumping around. I lowered the trackpad sensitivity but that didn't seem to help. Has anyone else run into this issue or have a solution?

I am looking for help related to wake up for this laptop.
I use this laptop as a desktop replacement with lid closed all the time. It connects to a external monitor and USB wireless keyboard and mouse. Every night when I select power->sleep to put the laptop to sleep, the next day I have to open up the lid and touch on keyboard to get the laptop wake up - using the wireless keyboard/mouse does not work..
I have checked everything in device manager in terms of power management and all "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" have been unchecked. "allow this device to wake the computer" are always dimmed...
This leads me to believe the BIOS disabled the USB wake up option, unfortunately when I go into BIOS on this laptop I do not see any option of USB wake...
Any help will be greatly appreciated... -

Synaptics etc. I think the hardware is actually okay, but something does feel off with the trackpad. I have had it "bounce" a few times. -

FYI - you can pick these up from VIipOutlet (Walmarts outlet for returns) on Ebay for $549 after the 15% promo they run fairly often:

Here is a firestrike run with my ebay unit for $549. I also repasted and undervolted to -130 mv. +160 on core and +800 on memory for the GPU.

Note if you buy a Lenovo or HP system, you will get the remaining factory warranty as these go by serial number. You can get some really nice deals here if you are patient. They tend to update inventory around 10AM CST.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 9, 2020 -

Re-ran firestrike and time spy with the latest nvidia drivers and I am really impressed the performance of this machine. I was expecting around 15k in firestrike but this thing is hitting over 17k for a 1660ti while only pulling 80 watts - https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/43749793? . Time Spy is hitting over 6400 in graphics - https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/43750363? .Last edited by a moderator: Feb 9, 2020 -

I have had a few of these apart, as well as MANY other machines - with the correct tools you won't strip the screws.
You need good screwdrivers. And not stubby jewelry drivers. When they are adequate length, you can make sure it's completely straight and vertical applying pressure to the screw properly and not at an off angle which is super important.
That and biting the head of the screw properly are all you need. -

Anyone have a firmware upgrade for one of these yet? Or an updated firmware from a compatible brand?
-
Repasted my unit last night, seems to be doing better. I'm surprised people are having to limit all core boost to 3.6ghz cause I'm not going over 90 with all core boost of 4.0. There is like a 5fps difference between office and turbo but my god is turbo so much louder, and I didn't notice a huge temp difference either, which reminds me how much I used office mode while gaming on the first model I had.
-
I've generally seen people limiting to save battery life, not for temps really.
What paste did you go with? What are your temps? -

Anyone been able to render using nVidia CUDA w/ this laptop? I've tried Adobe Premiere 2019 13.1.4, 13.1.5 & 2020 14.0.1 keeps on using GPU0 which is Intel QuickSync. Wanted to make sure it wasn't EVOO utility or something slowing down performance.
-
shadow of the tomb raider did thermal throttle on max settings in the crowds of people and festivities but only downclocked 200mhz on single cores while maintaining 70-90fps. Still can't tell much of a difference between turbo/office/gaming but the office fan is so much quieter.
-
Anyone have any info on a getting additional power supplies (chargers?)
I'd love a second one.. -
https://prnt.sc/r5mrm2 554w package draw? I'm assuming HWmonitor just glitched but I've never seen that. Wish I didnt get up to 92-94 in most games easily on cpu from 3790 to 3990ghz.
-
Definitely a reporting error.
I pasted with liquid metal. What game are you hitting those temps in? I'd like to compare. -
-
99 without throttling isn't necessarily a GOOD thing. I'm gonna fire up some Star Wars @ Max settings and see what temps I hit.
-
Good or bad, it was odd nonetheless. This new Evoo hits maxes of 97-99 too apparently but it does what it's typically suppose to by down clocking. Not as strong as my i7 6700k 1080ti desktop but it was cheaper and has 3 years of guaranteed service at the very least. How worth it is it to replace the ssd in the laptop to gain further c states and longer battery life? Figured i'd take the biwin m.2 in the laptop and place it in my desktop in place of the 1tb samsung 860 evo i'd throw into the laptop. Wish there was fan control, even idle web browsing or youtube videos can cause it to ramp up in power savings mode.
-
Okay. So.
Played Jedi Fallen for the last hour at Max settings.
Low 70s GPU.
High 70s CPU.
Max settings is about 70-80fps in that game.
If you need more storage space, toss in a better SSD. But if the 512 is adequate, I think I'd start with putting in a bigger battery. I did a bigger battery and put in an NVME drive, since I was sitting on one. I took out the biwin. I get decent battery life, 4+ hours of web browsing no problem.
The liquid metal for me I think is what is really keeping my temps down. -
Well ye, liquid metal is huge but are you also using a cooling pad and turbo mode? I don't wanna pay 80 dollars for a small battery upgrade that also requires getting rid of my 2.5' sata ssd. You gain battery life and thermals through the upgrade from the biwin 512gb m.2 cause it is always 53C, other ssds are <40C. I don't get more than 2 hours of web browsing if I forget to turn off afterburner or put power saving mode on.
-
Hey my friend just trying to tell you my setup and my temps.
No laptop cooler.
I've used turbo mode but don't see much difference in frames or temps when gaming, between any of the modes really.
Stock GPU frequencies. I only have afterburner installed for the Riva OSD.
I have 2 drives:
Inland Premium 2TB SSD. And a Crucial 1TB SSD MSATA drive. MX300 I think.
Liquid metal and bigger battery.
Undervolt -130 on cpu and core. -35 on Intel GPUFaisal Siddiqui likes this. -
I've got my gpu oced by 190 on core 800 on mem. I just grabbed some 8 dollar mx-4 so it won't match that of liquid metal but you prolly also got a really good unit in comparison to my lemon
. Still performs well enough and I think the warranty is transferable if I decide to sell it after the fact, so that's nice. I use a cheap cooling pad too is the crazy part. I could check the paste when/if I swap the drives but I feel like it'd be a waste of time.
-
Whereas before i'd down clock to 3788 or 3888, i'm now spiking down to 800 but I haven't noticed it in terms of frame pacing ingame. Turbo fan mode unlocks the electroboost feature for gpu at the cost of louder fans in comparison to office/gaming. Just realized it was my ram that was 53 degrees. The biwin 512gb preinstalled ssd runs at 65-70C o.0!! The secondary cheap 128gb offbrand sata ssd ive got installed next to the battery is at a constant 40C!
-
I broke my screen, my kid smashed the corner of it with a book, and now I get a really messed up picture.
Should I have a laptop shop replace it?
Or is it pretty easy to do yourself? I've never really worked on laptops before. -
will this hard drive fit in the extra hard drive space it has?

Hi All,
I'm a little confused after reviewing this thread. I would like to get a new larger NVME SSD as my primary drive. Am I able to slide the stock BIWIN (sp) over to the second slot/image the drive or is the second slot incapable of using the stock drive because it's sata? I have apparently been out of the game too long, as I am completely confused by same form factor, but different compatibility of these drives.
Also, what process have folks used to image the drive, or do you just install windows from scratch?
Thanks! -
as for process, i never ever ever ever image a OS drive. i always install from scratch. Not saying is better or worse than imaging, it's just my preference as i like to have a 100% clean start. i';ve installed one of eluktronics control centers to control the rgb keyboard.
