I had posted about this before, but it seems as though just recently the 6615's successor has been officially announced by Zepto.

Zepto Community Post
According to the admin on that site (and Google's German translation tools) The product has (as was speculated previously):
Built in HDMI / DVI
Nvidia Geforce Go 8600
Santa Rosa Chipset
HP DVD Burner (I think, could be Lightscribe but that's just guessing on my part).
And apparently it will be realeased at some time shortly after May 25 I think, which is when Intel's platform is officially launched.
-
ohhh yhee baby finally
do you know what the price will be?
-
yes would be nice... also whether there will be a 6214w sized version and the actual specs of the 8600 would be nice i read somewhere it only had 12 pipelines? and read somewhere else that the desktop 8600 would have 64 which seems very strange to me.. though i have no idea how accurate these sites were

I asked Finland's Zepto reputative about the incoming model, here's a .doc file i received with their response:
Product insight: Znote 6625WD
The new Znote 6625WD will be launched as the successor of the popular Znote 6615WD, as Zeptos Santa Rosa 15,4 gamer notebook. The notebook will be equipped with lots of new features, and will come in an even more stylish design. Amongst its new features, the Znote 6625WD will include:
HDMI for digital connection to external monitors/LCD TVs-
WSXGA 1680x1050 HD ready
Bluetooth 2.0 with H2DP
Geforce Go 512MB 8600 graphics card
Optional HD DVD RW drive
DirectX10 support
965 Intel Mobile Express
The Znote 6625WD will be launched together with the launch of the new Santa Rosa platform, scheduled to take place in April/May 2007.
More about: Santa Rosa platform
Santa Rosa is the codename for the 4th generation of Centrino, showcased in CES 2006 and planned to market in April 2007.
Quick facts:
The second generation Intel Core 2 processor (codename Merom) which uses Socket P.
800 MT/s front side bus with Dynamic Front Side Bus Switching to save power when running at lower CPU power.
Intel Mobile 965 Express chipset (codename Crestline) with Intels GMA X3000 graphics technology.
Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN IEEE 802.11abgn mini-PCI-Express wireless network (codename Kedron).
NAND flash memory storage (codename Robson)
WWAN internetaccess via mobile telephone network with HSDPA (3.5G) wireless technology developed with Nokia (codename Windigo)
EFI, which replaces BIOS
Intel Dynamic Acceleration (IDA), for better Windows Vista Aero support
Support for WiMAX (802.16) was planned for Santa Rosa, but is not included in this platform. WiMAX will come in 2008 with the Montevina platform.
Santa Rosa platform will be branded as "Centrino Pro". -
Wow that is really exciting but yeah, does anyone know what the approximate price will be? Also, I wonder how much RAM it will support, since with Vista, 2GB is the new 1GB if you see what I mean. And with all those gizmos do you think it will have a 9 or 12 cell battery as standard?
-
Hm..i read that there is a limit to the gfx card you can equip in a 14" because of heat issues. Do any of you from Zepto (Rene?)
know if there is going to be a succesor for the 7700 go regarding 14" notebooks? Or is the 8600 and 8800 limited to +15"?
-
I have it on good authority that there will be a 14.1" model complete with an 8600Go around May. Which I will be buying
-
i've got a feeling there may be some more over heating going on though!
i know the go8600 etc. arent released yet but does anyone have any links to performance figures/comparisions/benchmarks? anything infact! just want to know a little more about it -
-
This is something I translated using a free translator from another website I visited.
------
For some weeks has been well known that Nvidia in the coming months will increase its offer of DirectX10-kompatiblen graphic cards with more favorable models. With Zepto, also a first notebook-manufacturer announced now a device with a DirectX10-Grafikkarte.
The Zepto Znote 6625 WD notebooks should come in the period between April and May on the market. In the device, the graphics representation is supposed to be received by a new Nvidia graphics chip. At the same time it concerns according to the manufacturer the model GeForce Go 8600, that is equipped in this case with 512 megabytes dediziertem GDDR3-Speicher.
While the clock speed remains further unclear, is well known that the new graphics processor works for notebooks with 12 pixel pipelines and the storage is addressed over a 256-bit-interface 256-bit-interface bit 256-bit-interface interface.
One not first of all wanted to name us notebook-chip new further details to Nvidias. Out of the technical data of the new device follows however that a HDMI-connection is supposed to be built in, that can be used for the edition of digital contents on LCD-monitors and -televisions.
With the Znote 6625 WD Zepto wants to address above all game fans, that place high demands on the achievement of a notebook. The device controls therefore a 15,4-Zoll-Display with a WXGA-solution of 1680X1050 pixel and is equipped optionally with a HD DVD-burner, that will cost between 300 and 400 Euros.
The device is based on the new notebook-platform "Santa pink" of Intel, that is supposed to be introduced in the second quarter 2007. So also a new chip sentence to the use, whose label reads Intel mobile 965 express, comes. This brings an incorporated graphics solution with, the Intel GMA X3000.
To the equipment belong probably also a WLAN-module new thanks to the new Intel chip sentence that after the new standard 802.11n funkt and therefore clearly higher data rates enables than previously. With "Santa pink" Intel replaces moreover the traditional BIOS by EFI. In notebooks without additional graphics processor, a special technology provides for an accelerated representation of the Aero-surface of windows Vista.
The Zepto Znote 6625 WD should be according to the manufacturer to praising available from 1200 Euros whereby then probably a 1.86 Gigahertz are built in fast Core 2 duos CPU by Intel, a 80-Gigabyte-Festplatte, 1 GB memory. The optional HD DVD-burner is in this price as well as mentioned not contained.

I really really want to know the battery life specs for this. I have a feeling it wil be really bad.
I would love this spec in a small screen notebook with good battery life. Perhaps a 6214 Santa Rosa Notebook which weighs <2.8kg with about 4 hours battery life with a 9/12 cell battery -
Woah is that HD-DVD burner? Or HP? Cos that's very different.
-
-
-
The OP has stated HP and muses that it could be a lightscribe drive, whilst a second member has stated HD drive - which could well be a typo? - it isn't that hard to put "HD DVD drive". Dunno what Jaymz is on about though...
-
Yes I think I can confirm that it is HP (as in Hewlett Packard I assume) not HD (High Definition); the site that originally previewed the laptop said:
So yeah, I know some laptops have been released with HD-DVD-ROM drives, but I'm not sure if there are any with an HD-DVD burner, so that made me a bit suspicious. As for the Lightscribe remark, yeah, that was just a guess, of what a neat thing to have that would be. Out of interest, what percentage of HP DVD drives have Lightscribe?
Hope that clears everything up, and thanks. -
Hm well apparently it is an HD-DVD burner. The post on the Zepto Forum was updated and it showed some pics, comparing it to the 6615. Looks basically the same but with a darker case. Only bad thing is that the screen looks very glarey
. I couldn't understand most of the forum, but the admin seemed to think it had a Glare TFT with an anti-reflective coating, similar to the 6615. How is the 6615's screen in that regard?
-
did you really ever hear, when buying a configuration, of specification of the DVD make (aka H.P. here) ? why would there be so important to mention an H.P. whatever device (DVDs, HDDs, etc) ? -
I assumed it was to emphasise that they had switched from the Sony DVD writers which you always hear about being rubbish.
-
-
-
Right because people are saying on the Zepto forum that the 6615 too has a slightly shiny screen. I really dunno.... The main reason I wanted to get a Zepto 6615 was because of the matte screen; I can't stand glossy ones, so if the 6625 has a shiny screen I may avoid buying it.
-
I was told by the slaes Guy Christian at Zepto that the 6615 is a Matte screen....I certainly hope so as I am about to receive mine!
-
Hm well this is all confusing hopefully if Rene or someone reads this he could explain.
By the way is Rene S a guy or a girl? I assumed guy but now that I think about it that is a girl or a guy's name, right?Sorry Rene
-
I very much doubt that any of Zepto's representatives here will post into this thread, as they should keep their mouths shut regarding these new models. Or at least, so i've understood.
-
Well Rene did post a bit earlier I think, or in another thread, and some rep did send a load of specs to someone. Plus the admins on the official Zepto forum are posting a lot of stuff, except it's all in German so I don't understand some of it.
-
Fortunately I speak a bit of German:
The model that you saw is apparently just that: a model. The real thing will apparently have what they call an anti-reflection coating.
If anyone has any more German links then I will be happy to have a go at translating them.
Another post suggested that the 6214/6314 follow-up is also imminent. Yay! -
Did you look on www.zeptoforum.com? Cos the last time I looked there was one big news post with pictures. Interesting to hear it's literally a model, as in a mockup. Oh and also there were some threads linked from the comments bit of that picture posting.
But basically I was confused cos I just used Google to computer-translate it all, and that's a bit rubbish.
Thanks though! -
Trust me.
I'm typing here on a 6615WD. -
OK yeah, it's a matte. It's just that there's been a bit of confusion; on the Zepto site it was listed as ''Crystal Clear'' which is an industry euphemism for glare-type screen, I mentioned this to Rene and it got changed back to matte, but now it's back at Crystal Clear.
The UK site in general is a bit bad...Last time I checked, only one DVD player is listed, and it's out of stock, compared with the Dk site which has a Samsung one, there is no TV tuner listed either which I am going to buy when I get a Zepto so I hope that gets sorted.
Edit: Oh, and the 6214 or whatever it's called did recently change from a matte to a glossy. -
Yeah, the Danish site is still the "better one", but the others have been making progress lately too.
-
I prefer gloss for notebooks, matte for desktop. Probably because with a notebook, you can change where you use it.
With a desktop, if you set up the TFT monitor on a desk by a window, it will be awful to work with every sunny day. -
I think I would say the opposite.
Matte is best for desktop cos you need to use it all around the place, and even outside, where no matter how you turn it gets washed out if you have a glossy.
Whereas inside, glossy can be ok cos you can set up your computer facing away from a window and never have to worry about glare again.
But for some reason there are very few glossy desktop screens and the majority of notebooks are glossy. -
I don't know how mutch I'm allowed to say, (or how mutch I can say and still be sure I realy know the latest fakts off) but to straigt out som concerns.
The "old" 6615WD has a matte screen, nothing else whatever the UK homepage says.
The latest I've heard the 6625WD will be equiped with a matte sceen with 1680*1050 in resolution, just like the 6615WD.
There will be a replacement for the 6214W/6314W but the specs on that i don't know, but the latest I've heard was that it will have a matte screen with 1440×900 in resolution. But from what I know there has been no final decision.
I Can't tell what ODD it's going to be in the new machines. But in the current machines we now uses Samsung DVD-RW std drives instead of the Sony. The Combo and Slot-in models are as far as I know newer versions of Sony drives.
The Pictures that is shown att ZeptoForums is not the final computer, it's just a sample we got from our wendor. It has a 1280*800 "Crystal Clear" screen witch i don't think is comming on the final product. I think there will be a black keyboard aswell to match up witch the new black look.
I wonder when they took that pictures, couse that looks like my workplace and I can't remember I borrowd them my table
Edit: And to make clear Rene is a boy! -
Thanks, I thought he was
Thanks ever so much for you help, much appreciated! That certainly is a nice resolution for a 14'' laptop, 1440x900, rarely seen.
Anyway, thanks again, and make sure you prod whatever slacker is supposed to be sorting out the UK site ;-) -
-
I think I saw it on a Thinkpad once that I was using, but yeah, not many notebooks seem to have as high a res as Zepto's.
-
Anyone care to guess at the weight of this wonderful laptop?
-
i guess 2.95 kg, damn i want this to come out, am i the only one checking this thread daily?
-
Nope, me too.
-
hehe bring it on, i keep on translating german pages to see if anything new is going on, but there seems to be no news, if the zepto rep hasnt seen a real one yet it might be more like June before this bad boy hits the Uk :-(
-
Just been looking at Zeptoforums and it seems that the first samples of the 6625 and 6224 will be arriving in Germany in the next week or so. Reviews are to follow in fairly short order. As soon as I see something I will post a rough translation.
-
A bit more info here, damn roll on May
-
Any news on a 14.1" version?
-
Man I kind of feel peaved this being announced as soon as I got my 6615. Just as well I despise Vista.

ZeptoForum Quick Review
Remember the tests are under Vista and 3DMark is not fully Vista compatible which means a slightly lower score under Vista than it scores in XP. -
I think, with better Drivers and 100% 3DMark DX10 Support, the Results will be higher then now. Under XP its the same, the DX9 dont can use the full 8600M Power. We will see, what the Future will bring ;-)

Here's the same thing with a more common language:
http://www.google.com/translate?u=h...ickRev/index.htm&langpair=de|en&hl=en&ie=UTF8 -
This looks absolutely bang on, hopefully they waste no time releasing it in the UK, and also keep the stupendously low price from the US.
Unfortunately i can see this being about 50% more over here.

Is the wireless on this notebook Draft-N standard or just A/B/G?
Update: It's A/B/G wireless, not Draft-N. Pricing TBD, but I would think something like $300 (dollars) over the 6214 model. Pre-orders starting in the next couple of weeks. Get involved!
Update 2: The comment re it being not Draft-N was based on a call I made into Zepto, but I have to think it's Draft-N and that the guy just misunderstood/misheard my question. Would love some clarification on this.
Thanks,
Petrov. -
I'm looking forward to this computer. I think these pictures are quite horrible. The guy who took the photos most certainly got no previous experience as a photographer. The 6224W looks mainly like the 6214W but in different colours. I still like the 6214/13 W black & white style
Since Rene and other guys from Zepto often sneaks around here I would like to present a few quiestions
Will the 6224W come with other colours?
Is it possible to use a 6214W empty chassis to fit 6224W hardware without having to modify the skrew-holes?
Is is possible to change the Go 7600 GPU-chip with the 8600 in 6214W or do you have to have the Santa Rosa mainboard? (not that I'm going to do this but it's a thought that interests me)
Regards
Kenneth
