Do any clevo resellers plan to sell the ocz whitebook? It is a barebone laptop and i remember hearing killernotebooks planning to sell the whitebook.
Its probably more complicated than that though
Please answer i fyou know anything, 3870*2 is a dream for me, since the nvidia fiasco
Excuse my bad grammar/spelling, im typing on my ipod touch this during history class![]()
-
Dont mind me asking, but what is the nvidia fiasco? Also, how will the 3870 sli compare to the current nvidia gpus? And isnt ocz hdds causing trouble in laptops? It looks like a good laptop, but I would want to know about the hdd problem before I bought it. If the hdds check out without having any problems, it may be a possibility that they would carry it.
-
it will come with quad core, yes in its 1.5" thick chassis.

Go to guruofgaming.com
At the top click forums
Then click the section for gaming notebooks
Look for something called a NAGAMAKI I think you will like what you see.
I hope I don't get banned for this...LOL -
-
It looks nice, but I still have my doubts about it. I wonder how good the cooling will have to be on these things? I mean, two gpus, two hdds, and a mobile quad core in a 1.5" chassis? It seems like everything is going to be packed in pretty tight.
-
Mark has agreed to sell me his review unit. so I will let you know how it runs once i got it. ;p
-
Is that the laptop he is sending for the "Fastest Laptop of the World" competition?
-
No, he is doing the 9262 for the Fastest. BUT thats awesome Nirvana, I hope he gives you a good price. From what we have seen so far, it is a definite upgrade to your 5793 so I'm glad to see you get it
.
-
Wonder how much he is going to sell it for?hmm....
Your lucky man for even getting a chance.
Congrats! -
Well, since that the OCZ whitebook is not a Clevo notebook, I wouldn't be certain to say that all clevo resellers will also sell this notebook.
However, some have been popping around: Digitalstorm Online has one as the "Dominator DM 17," Maingear has it as the eX-L, and RK Computers has it as the RKC-1756. Your closest bet to buying it as a barebone would be buying it from the latter (RK Computers: http://www.rkcomputer.net/rkcnotebooks/index.php?l=product_detail&p=95). Starts at $1577 with no memory, HD, bluetooth, wireless card, and OS license. I e-mailed them and they told me that it should be available by the end of the month or by the beginning of September. -
Oh, and it might be an interesting investment with this whitebook (Arima/Flextronics W840) now that the M98 XT has been spotted (due to it supporting crossfire):

so many good high end gaming notebooks now... i feel like i may regret my NP8660 purchase in a very short time ...
this notebook is however a 17inch.. is it not? -
btw I though you are AW fans???? jumping on Clevo boat now? -
And yes it is a 17" gaming notebook.
-
Will this notebook be able to touch the 9262 gaming wise though? I mean, which will be more powerful the crossfire ati 3780 or sli 9800m gtx? Obviously the whitebook will be more portable, but if its marketed as a gaming notebook its fair to ask which one will perform better.
-
9262: desktop quad
whitebook: mobile quad (if there's one)
9262: 9800m gtx <--faster
whitebook: 3870 <--slower
9262: signle 9800m gtx or dual 9800m gt
whitebook: dual 3870 -
No one knows yet.
We`ll have to see when they are launched at the end of the month.
I would expect a 860TU review until then... -
Personally I dont think you can beat Nvidia chips, until I have proof they are still king.
-
So then, 9262 would still be the top dog for gaming or performance? Obviously its not nearly as portable as the whitebook thought. So then for a portable gaming laptop, the whitebook would be top of the line? How is this going to compare to the w700?
-
W700 is not for gaming, and apparently won't able to catch up both whitebook and 9262.
-
Hmm it seems like all thats different between the w700 and the whitebook is the hdd and the gpu. And the ocz hdd is scaring me.
I thought I would ask, Nirvana is it the size of the 9262 thats keeping you from buying one? I see you have a 5793 and now want a whitebook or m700 if there isnt a quad core for the whitebook. -
youdontneedtoknow Notebook Evangelist
w700 will be the most powerful laptop with great support...
-
The W700 is meant to be a mobile work station and is priced accordingling, nearly $1k more than an equivalently performing Clevo. Guess they should call it an AW
If you are worried about the OCZ SSD, then don't get one. Pretty simple. It's not as if the whitebook has one permanently installed in it.
In my opinion, ATI GPUs are slightly better than nVidias because of their cost vs performance ratio. Yes, nVidia's top of the line is faster than ATI's, but you will generally pay nearly twice as much for that slightly better performance. Now if you can afford it, good for you. If you want to get the most for your money, then ATI is ussually your best bet.
It is nice to finally see an ATI Crossfire option coming to the mobile world. I can't wait to see well it performs. -
Oh I thought ocz whitebook meant that the hdd choices will be all ocz
. And the w700 is supposed to be the most powerful youdontneedtoknow? It doesnt look like it will but I cant be for sure.

They don't even put the high end ati on laptops in time, how am I supposed to order it?

Toshiba is pretty good too, I like their hand gesture recognition software, it is going to be the future.
-
Wait, youdontneedtoknow what did you say? I didnt quite understand what you said in your post about the ati high end graphics card.

Although the pics practically confirm it, does the whitebook have a backlit keyboard? I know the m9750 didnt

but but this is an area for Sager and Clevo ...

-
I am joking though, please, nobody take me seriously. Unless I am being serious of course. -
heh whose that as your avatar?
-
Anyway. What is the name of the barebone from which the OCZ white notebook is made and who is producing it?
PL -
That is none other than the Amazing Bruce Campbell in his most infamous role as Ash from the most infamous movie Evil Dead 2 which is a remake of the not so infamous Evil Dead. It's not really a sequel, just a remake. Army of Darkness is the sequel. Come to think of it, I believe that image is taken from Army of Darkness. If you are a man and have not seen any of the above mentioned movies, then stop what you are doing right now and go rent them. All of them! NOW! -

Check out the prices at CyberPowerPC:

SCHWEET!!! -
While the price at CyberPowerPC may be sweet, the folks they have working there are a bunch of noobs! I went on their chat live several times to ask why it was that on their configuration page they only offer one hard drive for this notebook when it is capable of dual HD. It's the same for their Clevo D901C. You can only configure one HD. I chatted with 3 different people and all three were clueless and kept arguing with me that none of their systems are capable of RAID. I'm not even sure if these dummies even know what RAID is. You'd figure that they would hire someone with at least some knowledge of the products they offer. The prices are pretty sweet though. If you're tech savy, you can add the extra HD's yourselves and save some $$$$.

To answer one of the original questions, I might be stocking this laptop. I'm in talks with OCZ, but I'm still deciding - Arima/Flextronics doesn't have the best reputation.
And, to make a suggestion, there is a thread I started in the Other Manufacturer section that might be better suited for discussion, as not to bog down the Clevo forum: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=288194
info about the ocz whitebook?
