    hello,

I am looking for some help for my laptop,

i have a packard bell easynote R1004, and a few weeks ago nowit wouldnt charge, whenever i connected the mains adapter it made the light on the box on the adapter flash on and off and also a light on the front of my laptop but nothing happened, so now im stuck with a dead laptop..

i bought a new mains adapter hoping it would solve the problem but it does exactly the same thing with this one, so i presume its a fault with a charging circuit or something..

    thanks in advance..

If I understand correctly, it's a case of both won't charge and won't run of mains power (with / without battery in place).

You've already done what I would suggest, which is to try another mains adaptor so it looks like a fault in the computer.

If my memory is correct then the Easynote is a DSG computer, so you may want to contact the Tech Guys.

DSG is the name of the company that owns PC World, Dixons, Currys, ...

The Tech Guys is their service unit who should know their way around that notebook and have the right parts.

DSG have to make their profit somewhere. :D

If you don't want to pay The Tech Guys then you will need to find a good specialist electronics shop who can work out what needs to be fixed, and fix it.

EasyNote has nothing to do with DSG unlike Advent, which you probably confused it with, John. PackardBell is owned by NEC.

Similar thing happened to my friends HP in december. I don't know how I fixed it, really, but it just powered on 20 minutes after i disconnected all the power sources and cleared CMOS.

You might consider changing your motherboard. When I was thinking to do it to my old EasyNote R9252, I could only find it at LaptopSpares.co.uk. However, it seems like you need to contact them for a price quote, I didn't see prices on the site
