I have an old Packard Bell Igo 2440 laptop.

Recently I have the problem that while using the computer it just turns off or it freezes. Once in a while I also get a blue screen (BSOD). But mainly the freezing and turning off by itself is very frustrating. After it turns off it is very difficult to turn on again. Press the on button, the light will show but nothing will show on screen and I can't hear the beeb it makes when loading the bios.

I have uninstalled all the unnecessary software and just use it for internet and microsoft word.

does anyone have the same symptoms and does anyone know how to fix this problem?? it would be nice to get the laptop working again, just for a while. need to finish some important papers for school.

Maybe it's overheating? Try cleaning out dust from cooling ducts. If that's still a problem, you might want to look into buying a notebook cooler.

Also, it could just be kicking the bucket. Your iGo has lasted longer thus far then almost every other PB from that period, so it's a distinct possibility.
