I have an HP EasyNote EN TS44HR which has just stopped working. It is 13 months old and just outside warranty. I forgot to create recovery disks and all I have when I power on is a blinking cursor at the top LHS of the screen. If I leave it I then get an error message which says 'A disk read error occurred, Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart'.

If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful.

No you don't. That's a Packard Bell, company currently owned by Acer.
...now I have to figure out where to move this thread... brb :) ...moved to Packard Bell forum and renamed...

And now to the original problem:

Short version: Apparently you need to buy a new hard drive and reinstall Windows.
Long version: You can run all kinds of diagnostics but eventually it goes back to the short version.
