Lol seriously it's getting annoying that the display restarts and the mouse goes back to the center of the screen.

So let's go back to basics
What OS and is it 32 or 64bit?
What is the full model number of the CF30. Preferably from the BIOS, not the sticker.

Ran that and installed stuff then killed the sound driver..... Still having display issue when trying to use anything related to the Fn key. Should I take video to show what I mean?

Restarted and Fn keys do not work at all.
Bluetooth is dead, wifi switch does not work.

Nope, it should not do that. Mine shows the volume until I take my finger off the key. Did you load all the drivers??

    BIOS V1.01L20
    Controller V1.10L11.

using the 30 now to write this, thanks for posting that. I am downloading it now and will report back later about how the process went. I am thinking about going to frys electronics and buying a 500gb ssd & PC5300 memory ( yes i know over kill in a mk1 but 5300 cheaper then 4200 memory), this machine is more fun to use then my Sony Vaio (slimmer, newer etc).

    hmmm ...
that sounds like an interrupt issue/conflict .
much like what happens when the gps module is activated (back in the bios) and there aint one installed .
as far as a fix goes ...
i would imagine that the bios flash has to be checked or done again ... who knows , a cosmic ray can flip bits .

I'll try repeating the bios again, and see if there is GPS settings to disable.

Also, is there a way to prevent this from popping up every time the machine is restarted?

    First,
after the BIOS flash, be sure to pull cmos battery and hold power button on with unit unplugged and no battery.
I have seen the bios needing reset after a flash.

    Second,
What COA is on the bottom? what OS was originally on it? Vista or XP.
I would install it with a restore disk to verify all of the hardware. (I do feel it's software)

I would download Belarc advisor and run it. Save the output file. Print it is better.
It should list all of the installed programs and serial numbers.
I suspect that Win7 is hacked and not legit.

Are you talking about the screen flicker?
I deleted all 3 hotkey stuff and restarted and reinstalled and still the same. It's as if the video driver doesn't play well with Panasonic hotkey? I am. Unsure where to grab a different video file or which video driver to download. I already tried Intel 945 and it still flickers after each FN use. The Fn + key brightness is not affected.

FORGET ANY DRIVER FROM ANYWHERE BUT PANASONIC.

Delete all other drivers. They will not work and will cause problems.
    here is a link ==> http://business.panasonic.com/support-computerstablets-downloads-searchdownloads

1)..You do have the wrong bios for win7.
2)..It is a butchered and hacked win7 install.
    3) It must have a proper BIOS update
    4) The hard drive must be repartitioned and reformated before trying to install any OS. This cleans all the old improper crap.

I would go to the Panasonic Toughbook web site and download the proper BIOS files and read ALL of the instructions to upgrade the BIOS. Then buy a Vista recovery disk. Run the Vista disk. Finally do a upgrade install of Win7 over Vista.

    3) How much time and money wasted on this already? Did you get a really good deal? I hope you did because so far it seems like you were mislead and cheated. I personally would be contacting the seller and / or filing a claim for defective merchandise. Defective with a missing palmrest / COA and inproper OS install.

Plan B. Tell the seller to stuff this and get a refund. Then buy a CF30 from a member here. A CF30 that is complete and working. Usually includes the factory recovery disks also. The guys here will configure it however you wish.
No, I am not selling any CF30's. I do not have a dog in this one. I can however recommend 2 different members.

    No waste of time.

Sometimes I figure it's best to state it all in one direct approach.
Things get lost in multiple posts and posters.

Somedays I can be very direct.

I don't like seeing guys spend so much time going in circles trying to get these running. They are not easy like a Dell or Hp.

Got the laptop for 75 shipped, seller is a recycling type place on eBay.
Arrived with a SSD & Battery, missing palm rest. Can't complain because I was expecting a real beater with no HD and No battery, Bluetooth etc. I would say I got a deal. Usually what I do is reinstall windows when I get a Windows machine but this had pre-installed 7 and the setup process was not complete (sorta like how dell sends there machines BNIB).

SO, I am going to reinstall Vista ultimate and then try to upgrade from there. Will my driver migrate or will I need to do a fresh install of 7 and reinstall drivers using Vista compatability mode after installing 7?

With the SSD included you did ok.
Well first make sure everything is working in Vista, then try Win7.

You still need to upgrade that bios for Vista to run properly

    here's a thought ...
how about loading a 'nix os just to make sure it is going to fly ?
    simple enough to do .

but yeah ... flash that bios ... there is no way that vista and eventually W7 will run worth a tinkers dam without it/them .
that is how i got my '30 that had 1600 hours on it ...
someone tried to load W7 with a vistaless vintage bios and it was crashing and puking .
these machines are like the difference between a 18 year old girl and a 40 year old woman ...
you may be able to slip things by an 18 year old but they will absolutely not fly with the 40 year old .

if you look up my thread that first landed me here , you will see that it is in direct reference to what you are doing .

The machine works, it's just changing volume or brightness causes an issue. Since it's a fairly new install I have no issue going back to Vista, and working my through to 7. Now that zip file I downloaded called: Darrin Gartrell Drivers is for Vista right? The same bios updater is within that file?

At one time when Panasonic had the drivers it was a little confusing which drivers to get so Darren made the zip file for us of all the drivers which made everyone's life a lot easier.

Let me ask this, if one has a mk1 has the bios update, has windows 7 and has GPS disables via bios. What if they purchased GPS and installed it. Wouldn't enabling GPS via bios just cause the machine to go erratic? Or is the erratic mouse issue only caused when they have GPS enabled and NO GPS module on board?

BTW my bios has no option for a GPS, unless it's hidden I don't see it.

Not sure what causes the erratic mouse but the only way to fix it is like Shawn said you must install the GPS patch.
