I have some photos from when onirakkiss disassembled his CF-P2.
Here you go... I think these may be of some use to you.

    Ok,
i can get the wlan chips: but I have to order $400 worth of'm.
I do believe we would also need those other 2 Texas Instruments chips as well.

I was kind of hoping Onirakiss would comment on the probability

Hello and welcome. For the usb lead, see this post on how to wire one http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/512386-cf-p2-british-gas-version-4.html#post6655540 (I've survived without one, just use panasonic backup weekly.)
The in car chargers can sometimes be found on ebay, otherwise I'd check with pan-toughbooks.com as I believe they stock the chargers.
    :)

    EDIT:
    Here's a car charger for the CF-P2 http://cgi.ebay.com/PANASONIC-TOUGH...ories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item3cb14aae12

Your carrier will need to support GSM 850MHz/1900MHz, as these are the frequencies that the CF-P2 supports.

Correction... These are quad band world phones. They do support GSM as Lxsys said. However the bands are as follows: US:1900mhz/800mhz; Europe:1800mhz/900mhz.

You can use ANY GSM cell phone SIM in this phone as they are unlocked to work with any carrier (Tmobile/ATT for example). Companies like Sprint, Verizon and Alltel will NOT work as they run on the far superior CDMA network's (Which also run on either 1900mhz or 800mhz here in the US.)

As far as 800mhz/850mhz - they are used synonymously. If someone says 850mhz, that also means 800mhz. Same with 900mhz/950mhz. I don't know why this is but it is!

It may be because it spans frequencies from 800MHz to 850MHz?

Was looking at getting one of these also. I would just use for
    calling, email and navigation.

Did read the whole thread but was wondering if anyone made any
    headway for the internal GPS.

The seller I was looking at for these is protrade101 is that were I
    should go?

Is there a newer panasonic model out in the rugged line?

    Greetz.

    1. No. there is no internal gps. The units labeled gps, have tom tom installed. You will need an external gps receiver

Thanks for the fast reply. I will just get a couple to play with, one nice unit
and 2-3 donors/test/trial and error units. Ublox has some really small gps
boards that may fit inside the P2 and might be able to tie into one of the
rs232 ports or ps/2 ports inside.

I'm still carrying my HTC TP2 since I can't realy do anithing with that CF-P2 until we'll find a solution here on this forum. :D Maybe some day Panasonic will wake up and take their finger out of their butt so they can think clearly and understand that there is a whole market out there that looking for a rugged smartphone to protect their data.

Here is a solution to the volume problem, at least it was for me. Apparently British Gas also had a problem with the volume. These files are from the original British Gas program. Place "sethsvol.exe" in the Windows folder. Place "Volume Aid" in the Windows\Programs folder. "sethsvol" allows a +9db increase in receiver volume.

Wow. Thanks. I thought I was going to have to open my CF-P2 up and solder in a little amplifier. I was intrigued to see the CF-P2 reboot when the apply button was pressed. I'm wondering if it writes something to a chip, then requests a reset as a sort of hackish hack.

Also, just out of interest, what archiver did you use to put them in the .zip? Linux threw a wobbly trying to extract them to the FAT formatted SD card because a "\" somehow got in the file names.

AFAIK they're *NOT* waterproof. Mine looks like it could take a bit of rain, but they are nowhere near waterproof from what I can see. I'll have to check the manual.

it tells the audio chip to output more power (in layman's terms).
they keep it at a moderate level so it will last longer/not as likely to burn out.
Kind of like overpowering an LED. Yeah, you can get twice the light out of it with twice the current, but it's gonna burn out twice as fast.

I don't imagine it would be too much of an issue in these circumstances though...
    IMHO.

Anybody p2 owners has original wi-fi pegasus wlan module on board?Photo plz?
    Thanks.

the pegasus is actually several different chips.
re-read the thread and pay attention to Onirakiss's posts (and mine, but not becuase I know anything, but becuase I know for a fact that I had described the parts in several posts)

Adding wifi to non equiped units is problematic becuase you can't get small quantities of the chips needed, and then you have to have access to a hot air rework station to solder the bga chips on, without toasting the p2 mobo....

I was going to add the wifi so we could use it as a house phone of sorts (skype).

I'm really curious about what type (part no) the cif camera would be. now that would be cool: replace the light sensor with a cheesmo camera for skyping of wifi......

This item fully suitable for Panasonic cf-p2?
SDIO MINI SD WLAN-11B CARD on eBay (end time 13-Jan-11 15:09:18 GMT)
Because I'd like to bay this item for my Panasonic CF-P2(without wi-fi).
I really want wi-fi on board of the cf-p2 item.
Because Panasonic Pegasus wlan module is very rare item( no one photo on the internet ).
Old Casio pocket pc have pegasus wlan module too, but Casio pocket pc(pegasus wlan module on board) item too rarest then Panasonic cf-p2!
    P.S.
One question about item upgrading from wm2003se to wm5 or wm6 & e.t.c.
It is possible? Yes or Not?
    Sorry for my english.

The CF P2 does support SDIO cards. The Spectec card is a SDIO card. It will probably work. I have one of these Spectec cards I would sell you for a good price, but I am guessing you are not in the USA, and postage costs may be expensive.

Hiya. First, if you haven't already done it, empty the SD of all it has other than the backup file I posted earlier. Its confirmed to work on cards 4GB or less. I'm saying this because I couldn't pull much detail from your post, so my solution here may be a bit hit-and-miss.

Try pressing and holding the rest button and the power button down at the same time, holding for 5 seconds and releasing. This *should* get the CF-P2 to do a "full" master reset. Let it boot etc, and wait for backup program to start. Flash on the backup file I posted earlier, and then wait. Once the phone has rebooted, and is done restoring, remove the SD. See if it stays uncrippled.
While you're at it, check to see if the backup battery onboard is low. If it is, wait for it to charge up before you start restoring, as this may be the reason for the phone going back to the crippled version. It shouldn't take too long, but make sure the phone has had a really good charge. (6-8 hours should do if its been sitting around doing nothing for the past month or two)

    :) Good luck.

Edit: I see you found the wikispaces page i made :p

the process has been confirmed to *NOT* work with 8GB SD cards.

i have the one with gps with no bluetooth or wi-fi i tried to hard reset the crippled version with the BK200601010-reset.baf file on a 2gb sd card so i can use the windows mobile fully i went here... http://toughbook.wikispaces.com/CF-P2 i followed the instructions after the reset it goes to data restore then goes back to crippled version what can i do????

forget it problem solver for people have problems doing the unlock crippled version this is what i did i formatted my sd card by clicking right click on the sd on my computer then i clicked "format" then i went to "restore device defaults" then i went to where it says "volume label" and i deleted what ever name it was there then i disable the check mark where it says "quick format" then i clicked "start" then i downloaded to the BK200601010-reset.baf file to the sd card then i hardreset and it worked now my phone has bluetooth now thats strange on crippled mode it didn't have bluetooth

oops i typed it wrong i put down the word "solver" i ment "problem solved"

dmc081, apologies if I'm coming across rude here, but I clearly replied with instructions on getting it working. The information about SD card size has already been established, on this thread and on the Wikispaces page that I created.
Also, please learn to use the "edit" function. 6 posts all after each other, including one totally unnecessary one to correct a typo, are extremely hard to read on a Braille terminal. It would be better if it were just kept to one or two, instead of "spamming" the thread with them. Thanks :)

Mods: Any chance of a post merge?

As far as I am aware, only the CF-P2, as different phones use different chips in different places, with different ways of accessing them. This file was also found in the original British Gas ROM, so it does look pretty specific to the CF-P2.

Hi. The Windows folder is a folder on the phone where a majority of the files used to make Windows Mobile work live.
You can get to the Windows folder by going to Programs>File Explorer. When in File Explorer, look for the dropdown up at the top, and select "My Device". You can then select the "Windows" folder from there.

If you can access the dropdown, you should be able to run the sethsvol.exe from the SD card without copying things to the Windows folder. Or at least, I was able to when I tried it.

    Hope it helps.

    lxsys -

You are using a CF-P2 SmartPhone with a Braille terminal? How does it connect to the phone? How do you navigate the SmartPhone OS with a Braille terminal?

    Just curious,

LOL, no, I'm using the Braille terminal on my XP box with MozBraille. I navigate Windows mobile with the use of a magnifying glass. I just find the PC far easier to use with a Braille terminal compared to having screen magnifiers and all sorts of other laggy and often buggy software.
Although, now you mention it, I think the PacMate Braille display may be able to be hooked up to a Windows CE3.0 devices, so with USB host and a bit of tweaking it could be possible.
