I don't use many bluetooth devices, but my CF-P2 connected to my son's phone without any problems, and I've seen various people on this thread say that it works with TomTom bluetooth. Check peewee and bigbadbobs links posted on pages 9 and 10 for help
-
Okay, managed to get things going...
Tomtom is now working with my bt gps. And I'm syncing Outlook over BT via Windows Mobile Device Center.
How to sync: first enable an incoming port on the PC via the bluetooth settings. Then allow connections in WMDC to the port just created in the bluetooth settings. Let the P2 find the PC, bond and if all goes well the shared COM port shows up as service of the PC. Select and hold the shared COM port on the P2 and select "use to connect for ActiveSync". Click the port again and syncing will start.... at least it does here.... -
Hi
I have a Panasonic CF-P2 and I am trying to make my own usb connector using an old GD-92 charger connector.
The problem is I am a complete newby when it comes to wiring so please please could somebody tell me where to solder the usb wires to the GD-92 connector please? I have looked at prevoius posts but they don't make much sense to me.
A diagram would be much appreciated if somebody can please do this?
Many many thanks -
-
Thanks very much for the quick response and useful info! I wired up as instructed but nothing happens when plugged in?
I'll triple check everything but sure i have done it correctly. -
Sorry about previus post, one of the wires was slightly touching another so carefully adjusted it and now it connects to pc! I'm very happy it works! thanks to everyone for the handy info!

I wired my car kit today but didnt want to use the chunky cradle.
if you open the cradle and remove the connector, with a bit of careful trimming you can get the insert to fit in a gd92 connector housing.
i now have a short lead coming out of the dash to connect to the p2 which sits in a small cradle clipped to the air vent.
Planning on wiring the mic and speaker to my car audio system. -
Good find, i don't use the car kit becouse it's to bulky
I will try it your way, thanks

hi thanks for your help but i found a way to do it.
hard reset. when it comes back on just as the backup kicks in press the reset button
then when it comes back on you get a warning that says restore did not finish.
but now your on the today screen so drag the warning out of the way and go to
start. programs. panasonic backup. now put in a sd card and backup to it.
now hard reset and start form sd and BANG your in.
thanks. -
Good find hanny.
I got a gd87 car charger today, suits the cf-p2 just fine without rewiring. -
-
hanny, could you please copy your british gas backup file to pc and share it with us when you can. i'd like to play with it's drivers and diagnostics for the car kit.
Bob. -
sorry i deleted it all.
-
no worries mate. so did I.
If anyone else still has the british gas backup file i'd be interested. -
try hard reset without sd and backup file.
-
I gave it a try but mine has been factory re-set.

The display protector glass of my Samsung B2700 broke last week. So I had the excuse for my girl to buy an other phone ;-)
I got also today my CF-P2 from UK. It's a unit without WLAN and a castrated OS. To get access to the normal Windows Menu I connected it via the Car-adapter via usb to my cf-29, where active-sync from my HTC was installed. After a hard reset the screen, where I have to calibrate the touchscreen on the cf-p2, will pop in front. Now I copied the content of the '...windows/start menu' folder from the phone to my laptop and after calibrating the touchscreen and the restart of the phone I copied it back and deleted the content of the '...windows/start up' folder. After an softreset now I have an normal windows mobile menu, with access to the backup point
And I could not use my sd-card. :-( So I want to look for the contact pins on the holder and by the way I disassembled the phone
Here are the pics of the inside, boards, antennas and connectors (I also found the place for the wifi-card) :Attached Files:

I have a 2Gb Sandisk in mine that works perfectly - just plug and play.
I have just got my hands on a Pretech SDIO 802.11b Wireless LAN card. When I've had time to play around with it, I'll report back -
Nice, thank u.
Anyone who know, where to find an schematic diagram for the cf-p2? -
I have the user manuals for the P2 and the docking station, but not the service manual.
-
Just picked up one of these for a project and the lack of USB cable is annoying!
For those of us who don't DIY has anyone sourced the cable (preferably UK based)?
When I hard reset the system it goes through an install of software that just seems to remove a lot of Windows Mobile functionality, if (as I've done on other devices) I quit before this install happens I get the proper Windows Mobile, but I also get a warning dialog telling me to hard reset to do the full install.
It's impossible to lose this dialog as it seems to survive being killed in the running programs!
Any suggestions how to get full WM without the dialog?
Thank you. -

Okay, went through all the thread again and found this post from Hanny and managed to answer my second question:
-
-
Could someone make me a few of these USB cables?
Happy to pay for the parts, your time and postage.... -
-
-
Schematic diagram????? please please can i have a copy?
-
Thanks to Onirakkiss. good karma to the man.
-
here's the full pinout for the 14 pin connector. (from onirakkis)
1=gnd
2=usb host D+
3=usb host D-
4=usb sync D+
5=usb sync D-
6=usb +5v in (usb detect)
7=i2c bus clock (this bus seems to output system data to somewhere???)
8=i2c bus data
9=audio out to car speaker
10=gnd
11=audio in from car mic
12=cradle detect (input,active low)
13=external power/charge
14= cradle int??? (input,active low)
pda does not supply +5v for usb device, this must be externally supplied.
there should be a radio mute signal somewhere too. -
I've just splashed out on one, and also a bluetooth GPS receiver. I'm hoping that it has got good firmware.
I have a quick question: if I wanted to use USB host , would there be pins that I had to short to enable the USB host data lines? I understand that I will need an external power source for the 5V (4xAA and voltage regulator i think), but will I also need to apply this power to the phone?
Edit:
It's arrived and all looks good at the moment. -
Did any of you guys tryed to look for a different panasonic USB cable? How about GD52,GD53,GD87,GD88,GD92?
Hint-use google/ebay
Good luck -

Received my CF-P2 last week and wired a USB cable this morning following the pin-outs posted earlier - thank you all very much. I have been thinking about the replacement battery issue and noticed that the Fujifilm NP-120 battery has identical dimensions; almost identical electrical characteristics (3.7V, 1800 mAh); and the same connector arrangement. Given that they are all likely made by Matsua (i.e. Panasonic) anyway, it seems to me to be worth an experiment. I will get hold of an NP-120 equivalent (plenty on Amazon, no doubt elsewhere too) and report back - unless of course someone has such a battery lying around and feels brave?
Ed -
I have now tried an NP-120 compatible battery in the CF-P2. It powers the CF-P2 just fine and charges on the wall charger that came with the phone. The only issue was that the Panasonic original has a couple of pieces of thickish tape on the bottom which help to press the SIM card onto the contacts. I presently have a piece of card adding a little extra depth to the battery to do the same and the phone function now works as well. Seems like the NP-120 battery was (is?) used in a number of cameras so there are plenty of them about.

But to answer your question, the same pins used for sync: (USB) +5v, -5v, D+, & D-. And the external 5v would need to be fed to the slave device directly, if the P2 does not output 5v at the connector.
And several people have asked about the max size sd card you can use. I don't have a P2 to try out, but (at least most of) every other WM03/03se PPC Phone I've used or been exposed to, sill support up to 4gb sd cards: NOT 4gb SDHC, just a 4gb SD card. Other than that, 2gb sd cards should work in any device from the last 10 years (well, most devices) -
I gave up on the idea of using USB host for my GPS, it had CE drivers for a USB to serial but I couldn't be bothered with making a connector and cable, as well as a battery pack. I instead got myself a Bluetooth GPS which is a less hackish solution.
As for the SD, I've got my P2 to read+write to a 2GB sandisk, if I can get my hands on a 4GB non HC type card I'll try it out and see what happens. -

I don't know about the P2 cause I don't have one (But I"m excited cause they'll be on there way soon!):
Anyway, I had a PPC Phone 2002 (HTC Wallaby), and it had serial capability from the charge/dock connector. Make the cable, set the com port and what not, and stream nmea output to the port. Viola.
I failed to notice the USB HOST+ & - in that pinout further up. It's got my curousity peaked. I know there were several larger tablet style hand helds running CNET3/3.5 (??, the precursor to Windows Mobile 2002), as well as WM2002/03/03se that had USB ports and supported host mode.
I can't wait to play around with this thing! -
